Chapter 10

Wooyoung felt warm and comforted as he snuggled closer to the body beside him. The arms around his waist tightened and he shoved his head further into the neck it was tucked in.

"Hey Woo, I need to get up so I can go out for a run," San whispered, running his fingers through the youngers hair. Wooyoung's eyes slipped open and he yawned, flopping a leg over to wrap around San's waist.

"Stop moving," he whined, making the other chuckle.

"I've gotta go Youngie," San said with a giggle. Wooyoung whined again and hugged the fighter closer.

"No you don't," he mumbled.

"Yes I do," San whispered, starting to get up. Wooyoung growled cutely and clung even tighter onto San, like a little leach. He then nuzzled his face further into his neck and placed a soft kiss to it to try and get him to stop moving. It worked as San instantly froze and Wooyoung sleepily settled down as he had finally stopped moving.

"Ok, I don't have to go. You get some more sleep," San whispered, placing a soft kiss to Wooyoung's hair. Wooyoung et out a breath of air, his eyes slipping closed as he quickly drifted back off to sleep.

~~~~~
The next time Wooyoung woke up, he was a lot colder, not feeling a body beside him. He pouted as he realised San had left but he knew the other had better things to do than stay with him. He sighed and got out of bed, changing into new pants. He slipped his shirt off and chucked it onto the bed. He glanced down at his bruises and stitches before sighing. They still don't look too great so it might be best to get some more cream on it. He left his room and walked out to the kitchen, going to the cupboard above the fridge and grabbing the cream.
"Morning."
"Morning Sang. Can you put some more cream-shit." Wooyoung yelped and dropped behind the bench when he saw both Yeosang and San sitting together on the couch. He curled his arms around his torso as his heart raced.
"San, I didn't realise you were still here," he said shakily. San frowned at the shakiness in the youngers voice and how skittish he was. He has never seen Wooyoung without a shirt so he was caught off guard but remembered Wooyoung's reaction the night before and had looked away instantly.
"It's ok Wooyoung, I'm not looking. Promise," San assured him. Yeosang frowned and went to get up but Wooyoung suddenly ran past and back into his room. He came back a few seconds later wearing an oversized hoodie. He glanced to the couch, seeing Yeosang watching him worriedly while San was looking determinedly at the floor. Wooyoung's heart warmed at how San was trying to keep him comfortable.
"Sorry about that. I had assumed you left," Wooyoung said awkwardly.
"That's ok. I didn't look, I promise," San said softly, his eyes still fixed to the floor. Yeosang smiled softly, loving how respectful the fighter was towards his best friend. If he didn't know before, he knew now that he could trust this man to keep Wooyoung safe and happy.
"Don't worry, you can look now," Wooyoung said softly. San slowly lifted his head before glancing at Wooyoung and flashing him a small smile.
"San's just been giving me some tips on the best workouts to gain muscle and get a nice 6-pack for my abs," Yeosang said with a grin.
"You should definitely listen to him. His abs are hot," Wooyoung said with a nod. He froze as he realised what he just said and flushed bright red in embarrassment. He glanced over at San to see his cheeks were also tinted red and he was back to staring at the floor while Yeosang grinned widely.
"Well if they have the stamp of approval from you Youngie, they must be great. What would you rate them on a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is ew, wear a shirt and 10 is so hot, I wanna lick them," Yeosang asked seriously, blinking innocently at Wooyoung.
"YEOSANG," Wooyoung yelped in shock and mortification at his best friends words.
"I'm so sorry Sannie. Forgive my best friend, he doesn't really have a filter sometimes," Wooyoung said apologetically as he not so discretely stared daggers at a smug Yeosang.
"It's ok," San said quietly, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
"Anyway, who wants to go out for lunch," Yeosang asked, breaking the awkwardness as if it was never there.
"I should probably head out. I don't want to intrude on you guys," San said, shaking his head.
"Nonsense, we want you to join us. Don't we Wooyoung," Yeosang said.
"Of course," Wooyoung said, nodding instantly. He loves having San around so going to lunch with him sounds great.
"Are you sure," San asked uncertainly, glancing between two friends.
"Positive Sannie, please come," Wooyoung begged as he sat next to the fighter on the couch and wrapped his arms around his shoulders. San melted into the touch, slipping his arms around Wooyoung's waist and squeezing softly as he let out a breath and relaxed.
"Fine, I'll come. Where are you going," San asked.
"There's this really nice café that we like. It will be my shout," Yeosang said.
"No way, I-."
"I'm shouting Woo to make up for not being here for him and you for being here for him," Yeosang cut San off. San paused at that, thinking it over before conceding with a sigh.
"Perfect. We're all in clothes that we can go in so let's head out," Yeosang said, jumping off the couch. San glanced down at Wooyoung who smiled softly before the two of them got up and followed Yeosang to the doorway. They all put on their shoes and left the apartment.
"It's not too far away so we can just walk. You two good with that," Yeosang asked.
"Yeah, I'm good with that. I was supposed to go for a run earlier anyway so some exercise would be good," San said.
"I'll live," Wooyoung said with a sigh. Yeosang rolled his eyes at Wooyoung's dramatics but San just smiled secretively.
"Which way," San asked.
"Follow me," Yeosang said, moving in front of the two of them to lead the way. San glanced at Wooyoung before slipping his hand down and grasping the youngers. Wooyoung glanced at San briefly before linking their fingers together and tugging him forwards the walk to the café on took 15 minutes so before long, they were already there.
"This looks nice," San said quietly as they walked inside and he scanned how nice the interior was. He instinctively squeezed Wooyoung's hand and stepped closer. He glanced around nervously before leaning his head down to whisper into Wooyoung's ear.
"How expensive is this place," he asked quietly so only the two of them could hear.
"Don't worry about it, Yeosang's paying," Wooyoung replied quickly as Yeosang talked to the waiter.
"It doesn't just work like that. I'm not going to spend a heap of his money," San said with a frown.
"Stop stressing," Wooyoung said softly, leaning over to give him a kiss on the cheek. San frowned but remained quiet, removing his hand from Wooyoung. Wooyoung was a little nervous San was mad at him but that was quelled when San gave his back a light pat.
"Come on," Yeosang said, waving the other two on. The three of them were led to a nice and cosy booth in the corner of the café. Wooyoung already knew what he wanted so he didn't bother looking at the menu, instead glancing at San as he went over it. He was regretting agreeing to take San to the café, given his background and how uncomfortable he seemed if the way his hands were clenched around the menu were any indication. About a minute later he let out a sigh and put the menu down.
"Are you ready to order," Yeosang asked and San nodded mutely. Yeosang raised his hand and politely waved a waiter over.
"Hello, can we please order," he asked.
"Of course. What would you like," the waiter asked.
"I'll get the bagels with salmon and avocado please," Yeosang asked and the waiter nodded.
"I'll have the breakfast roll please," Wooyoung said. The waiter nodded again and wrote it down.
"And what would you like sir," the waiter asked, turning to San.
"I'll just have the cheese toastie," San replied quietly. Wooyoung frowned, knowing that was the smallest and cheapest item on the menu.
"Would you like any drinks," the waiter asked.
"I'll just have some water," San said.
"Same with me," Wooyoung said. He could tell San was uncomfortable with spending so much money and though Wooyoung can't get them out now, he can try to make him more comfortable.
"I'll take a water as well," Yeosang said.
"Ok, is there anything else," the waiter asked.
"No thank you," Wooyoung said quickly. The waiter nodded before leaving. Wooyoung frowned and glanced over at San again, watching as his eyes scanned over the café. Wooyoung quickly slipped his hand into the others under the table, slipping their fingers together. San squeezed tightly and glanced at Wooyoung, offering him a weak smile.
"I'm ok," he said softly.
"Are you sure? I'm sorry if taking you here has made you uncomfortable," Wooyoung said guiltily.
"No, I wanna be here. It's just pretty far out of my price range so it feels weird to be eating here," San admitted.
"I'm sorry. I didn't even think about that," Yeosang apologised.
"No, it's fine. I appreciate you guys letting me come out with you. I appreciate it a lot," San said honestly. Wooyoung smiled softly and gave San a small smile. This time San's smile back was a bit more relaxed and genuine.
~~~~~

The food came out around 15 minutes later and Wooyoung grinned happily as he saw his roll. They started eating and Wooyoung noticed that San kept glancing at Yeosang's bagels. Wooyoung discretely reached his foot out and tapped Yeosang's ankle. Yeosang looked up and Wooyoung tightened his lips to signal to remain quiet. He then gave a slight nod towards San and Yeosang glanced at him with a frown. It took a few seconds before Yeosang seemed to catch on to what Wooyoung was trying to hint at. They continued to eat but Yeosang slowed down a bit. When San and Wooyoung were almost finished, Yeosang still had one bagel left.

"Hey Woo, I'm full. Do you want my other bagel," Yeosang asked.

"Nah, I'm full," Wooyoung said, shaking his head. Yeosang then turned to San.

"Please tell me you're hungry because this food is too good to waste," Yeosang said.

"Oh, uh, are you sure you aren't hungry anymore," San asked slowly, clearly eying the bagel.

"Yeah, I really can't eat anymore," Yeosang said with a nod.

"Ok. If you're sure then I can eat it for you," San said. Yeosang nodded and pushed his plate over to San.

"And you said it tastes good," San added in question.

"Yeah, it's a salmon and avocado bagel. Those two are a great combination," Yeosang said with a nod.

"I've never had it before," San said quietly as he moved his plate off to the side and tugged Yeosang's closer.

"A salmon and avocado bagel," Wooyoung questioned.

"No, salmon," San replied as he sniffed the bagel. Wooyoung's heart clenched as he immediately knew why San wouldn't have eaten salmon before, however Yeosang did not.

"Huh, how come? Not a fan of fish," Yeosang asked.

"Couldn't afford it," San said with a shrug as he finally took a bite. Yeosang's wide eyes snapped to Wooyoung and the younger just frowned sadly.

"How's it taste," Wooyoung asked.

"This is so good," San mumbled as he chewed his mouth twitched up in a happy smile. Wooyoung was both sad but happy for the older boy. It was nice to see a happy smile on his face for once.

"Sucks for you that you're full Yeosang," San said with a giggle as he took another bite. Wooyoung smiled softly as he leaned his head against his hand that was propped up on the table as he gazed fondly at the fighter.

"What a shame," Yeosang said with a smile.

~~~~~
"You sure you have to go? You can spend more time here if you want," Wooyoung told San as they stopped in front of the hotel.
"I'm sure. I've got things I need to do. I'll give you a call later if anything happens," San said.
"Ok, fine," Wooyoung said with a sigh. San chuckled and leant down, placing a soft kiss to Wooyoung's hair before pulling back. He waved goodbye to the two boys before walking off. Yeosang immediately turned to Wooyoung who raised eyebrows.
"What," Wooyoung asked.
"I've said it before and I'm saying it again. You are so down bad for him," Yeosang said, shaking his head.
"I am not," Wooyoung lied, looking away so Yeosang wouldn't see his obvious blush.
"You are such a bad liar," Yeosang said, rolling his eyes at the younger.
"Come on, let's just go inside," Wooyoung said, walking past Yeosang and into the building. Yeosang chuckled but followed him quickly.
"I was thinking we could go down to the spa and relax for a bit if you want," Yeosang said as they went up the elevator. Wooyoung perked up at that and grinned.
"Ooo, a relaxing spa bath sounds delightful," he said, making Yeosang chuckle fondly. They went inside and Wooyoung rushed to his room eager to get down to the spa. He's had a long week so having a couple of hours for some relaxing time with his world sounds great. He grabbed out a pair of board shorts and some speedo's chucking them onto the bed. He was about to start getting changed when his phone suddenly started buzzing in his pocket. He sighed and pulled it out, recognising the number with a groan.
"Please don't say what I know you're going to say," he begged as he answered the phone.
"I'm sorry Woo, we're way behind on sorting through paperwork and Mr Jung told me to call you and tell you to come here now," they said.
"Damn it. Can't I come in later or maybe even tomorrow," Wooyoung asked.
"I'm sorry Wooyoung, he wants you to come in now," they said. Wooyoung groaned and sat down on his bed.
"I was just about to relax in the spa," he said with a sigh of frustration.
"I really am sorry Wooyoung. I wouldn't ask unless Mr Jung was insisting."
"I know you wouldn't Gigi," Wooyoung said with a sigh.
"Tell my father I will be there in half an hour," he added.
"I will. Take care." Wooyoung growled as soon as the call ended, punching his bed in frustration. He really did just want a break. He almost died less than a week ago, to which his father didn't even check on him and now he's ruining his relaxing time. Wooyoung just sat on his bed, staring at the wall for a few minutes until his door opened and Yeosang came in with a smile. The smile left his face as soon as he noticed how down Wooyoung was.
"Hey, what's wrong," he asked in concern as he went and squatted down in front of Wooyoung, resting his hands on the youngers thighs in a comforting manner.
"I can't come to the spa," Wooyoung said quietly, not looking at Yeosang.
"What, why," Yeosang asked with a frown.
"I need to go into HQ and help out with some paperwork or something," Wooyoung replied.
"You're kidding," Yeosang said in annoyance. Wooyoung shook his head sadly. Yeosang sighed and sat down beside Wooyoung, pulling him into a gentle hug. Wooyoung latched onto him tightly, resting his head down onto his shoulder.
"You don't have to go if you don't want to," Yeosang said.
"Yes I do. You and I both know I do," Wooyoung said with a sigh. Yeosang didn't reply, knowing Wooyoung was right. Unfortunately they don't have a say in matters like this. If their parents want them somewhere, they have to go.
"I'm sorry sweetheart," Yeosang whispered.
"Don't worry about it, it's not your fault," Wooyoung said.
"I should probably get going through. I need to message Kai to come and drive me. I really cannot be bothered walking," Wooyoung said.
"Ok. You call me if you need anything. Do you know what time you'll be getting home," Yeosang asked.
"Not sure, but it may take a while so probably pretty late," Wooyoung said.
"Alright. Look after yourself," Yeosang said softly. Wooyoung squeezed him one last time before getting up.
~~~~~

Wooyoung ended up having to work for quite a long time, not finishing until close to 11pm. It was quite late so he didn't want to call Kai and drag him out to drive him. Instead he made sure he had a clear path mapped out in his head of the busiest roads and set out to walk home. He promised he wouldn't walk alone downtown, however in the middle of the city is nowhere near as dangerous as downtown. Walking back to the hotel was fine however, he noticed something odd out the front as he was getting closer. He quickly put on his hood and stopped walking, stepping behind a large bin. There were 3 people sitting on the steps out the front which wouldn't be concerning except they all had bats in their laps. The alarms in his head were blaring and he had the strong inclination to stay away. He shuffled back and slipped down an alley. He glanced around the corner to double check he wasn't seeing things but sure enough, they were still sitting there. He quickly pulled out his phone and dialled San's number without thinking. It rung 3 times before San answered.

"Youngie? What's going on, it's the middle of the night," the fighter asked groggily, sounding very much like he had just woken up. Wooyoung cursed himself for not thinking about whether or not the older male might be asleep.

"I'm sorry, I just woke you up didn't I," he apologised.

"No, don't be s'okay. Why're you calling," San asked, still sounding half asleep.

"Look, I could be overreacting on this but everyone has been stressing about me staying safe and stuff so I thought I should probably call you," Wooyoung said.

"What happened? Are you hurt," San asked, suddenly sounding a lot more alert.

"I'm not hurt but I was coming home from the office and I noticed there's 3 guys outside the hotel and they have bats so I'm a bit concerned," Wooyoung said.

"Wooyoung, baby where are you? Please tell me you haven't gone near them," San said frantically. Wooyoung heard some rummaging and then the unmistakable sound of a door slamming shut.

"I didn't go near them. I ducked out of sight so they wouldn't see me," Wooyoung assured San.

"Where are you right now," San asked.

"Um, down the alley near Dante St I think," Wooyoung replied. He was confused when he suddenly heard about 8 rapid thumps before a louder bang.

"Stay there Wooyoung, I'm on my way," San rushed out breathlessly.

"Yeah, ok. I'm not going anywhere," Wooyoung said.

"Good. Good, stay there. I'm running there now so I'll be there soon. Don't move," San said firmly.

"Ok," Wooyoung said before the phone hung up. Wooyoung sighed and just waited where he was, glancing around every once in a while, just confirming that they were all still sitting outside.

He didn't even hear anyone approaching until a hand was placed over his mouth. He didn't jump though, somehow recognising the touch instantly. He spun around quickly and wrapped his arms around San's waist, the other hugging him back with a firmness that he hasn't had before.

"You're ok right? You aren't hurt, you're ok," San asked quickly, his chest heaving.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm ok," Wooyoung said softly, tucking his head into San's neck.

"Oh thank god," San breathed out in relief.

"I'm sorry it took me so long to actually jump into action. I should have realised that something was wrong when you were calling me at 11pm," San said guiltily.

"Are you kidding me? You just ran here in less than 10 minutes from downtown, which I didn't think was even possible considering how far it is. You protect me whenever you can, you make me feel safe," Wooyoung said, softly whispering the last part as he lifted his head to rest his forehead on the others. San let out a breath and tugged Wooyoung closer by the waist, his eyes slipping closed. The two of them remained close like that for a few minutes, just wrapped in each other's embrace. Eventually San pulled away and took a step back.

"You should stay at a hotel tonight. I don't think it's safe for you to attempt to get inside, even with me there," San said.

"Stay in a hotel," Wooyoung said with a frown.

"Yeah, get you away from here for the night," San said with a nod. Wooyoung bit his lip nervously. He doesn't really want to stay alone in a foreign hotel. Sure, his parents own heaps and he could stay at any one of them for free. But being alone will freak him out.

"Can't I, can't I stay with you," he asked nervously. He had thought maybe they were close enough that San wouldn't mind him coming over for the night. He immediately regretted asking however as he saw the frown that passed over San's face.

"I don't think that's a good idea," he said.

"Right, right, it was stupid of me. I was just thinking that I'd be scared staying alone and you make me feel safe and stuff. But yeah, yeah no it was stu-."

"Stop rambling," San said, cutting him off and making him go silent. He snapped his mouth shut and watched as San seemed to be contemplating something.

"You want to stay with me because it will give you more security, make you feel safer," San asked slowly.

"Well yeah but don't worry, I wasn't really thinking. I can stay at a different one of our hotels for free anyway," Wooyoung said quickly. San sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.

"I want you to feel safe, to be safe. It's just, I don't. I'm not sure you're going to want to stay where I live. It's not like where you usually stay," San admitted quietly.

"Oh San, I know that. Of course I know that. Sannie I know how privileged I am to live in a place like I do. No one else is going to live in anything close to that," Wooyoung said quickly. San shook his head and laughed humorously.

"It's not that Woo. It's like, it's on the completely opposite end of the spectrum," San said.

"I get that and I don't care. I'm not saying I need to go there, I am more than fine with going to a hotel. I just want you to know that wherever you live, I won't judge and it won't change my opinion of you in any way," Wooyoung promised. San hesitated before giving a firm nod.

"Ok, come on," he said, holding out his hand.

"Where are we going," Wooyoung asked as he grabbed San's hand and they started walking.

"My place," San replied quietly, shifting his hand to link their fingers. Wooyoung smiled softly but the two of them remained silent as they walked. San was always on high alert, looking around every street to make sure they weren't in any danger, his hand squeezing Wooyoung's the entire time.

Eventually they turned down Dalton St an Wooyoung perked up. He still stayed silent but his stomach dropped when San turned them down to walk up to the old building of number 12. Wooyoung remembered the building. It was the building his dad had him check out as a possibility for a new hotel. The one he called old and said they would have to tear it down. This is where San lives and he talked about it like it was a piece of crap. No wonder San was acting so weird when he took him here.

They walked into the building, going up a set of stairs with 8 steps before turning right. When they got to the third door on the right, San pulled out an old key from his pocket and unlocked the door. He paused after that for a few seconds before sighing and opening the door. They walked inside, San closing the door and locking it behind them. Wooyoung glanced around the room, taking it in and his chest tightened slightly. It really was just a room, probably the size of he and Yeosang's kitchen. There wasn't much in the room either, just a small fridge, a crate, an old box TV and in the very corner mattress on the floor with a pillow and a few blankets.

"This is it," San said quietly as he saw Wooyoung looking around. He felt humiliated to be showing Wooyoung this, to be showing this perfect person just how pathetic his life truly was. His eyes started to get misty but he desperately tried to blink away from the tears so as to not humiliate himself further.

"It's nice and cosy," Wooyoung said with a nod. Out of all the reactions he could have, this was definitely not the one San was expecting. He laughed wetly before sniffling and then promptly bursting into tears. Wooyoung spun around quickly in shock at the sound, finding San sniffling with tears running down his face.

"Oh San," he said softly, reaching out for the older male. San chuckled through his tears and stepped closer to Wooyoung, allowing him to wrap an arm around his shoulders and pull him into a side hug.

"You're weird," San said.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry. If I knew me coming here would upset you, I never would have agreed to come," Wooyoung said quietly.

"No, it's not like that. I don't even know why I'm crying. I'm not upset, ore relieved I guess," San said as he wiped his eyes with his sleeves to try and slow the tears.

"Relieved," Wooyoung questioned as he pulled San's hand down and replaced it with his own sleeve.

"It's kind of humiliating to bring you in here. You won't say it but this place is shit. It isn't a place anyone would want to live in," San said with a sigh. Wooyoung frowned at that. Truthfully San wasn't wrong but he also forgot the part where he was doing the best he could with the opportunities he was given.

"Sure, it isn't ideal but I like it. One of my favourite people live here," Wooyoung said with a shrug. San smiled at that, his tears finally stopping and Wooyoung dutifully wiped the remaining ones from his face before they pulled apart.

"Thank you, for trying to make me feel better," San whispered.

"I hate seeing you cry. Don't get me wrong, you're pretty when you cry but you're also just pretty in general so I prefer seeing you happy and smiling. Not that crying is a bad thing, I think crying is great. Sometimes it's good to just cry it out, you get what I mean," Wooyoung rushed out. San chuckled and kissed Wooyoung's cheek.

"You're adorable," he whispered before walking over to his fridge.

"Do you want some water," San asked as he pulled out a bottle.

"Yes please," Wooyoung replied. San closed the fridge door before handing Wooyoung the water bottle that he accepted gratefully.

"Now, I know the bed is pretty small but I-."

"Cuddles. Lot's and lot's of cuddles," Wooyoung cut him off with a few happy claps. San smiled fondly at the younger and nodded, disregarding his previous thought.

"Do you want a change of clothes? I still have the clothes from you that I borrowed if you want them back," San said.

"Nah, you can keep them. They look good on you," Wooyoung said with a shrug before taking a sip of the water.

"Hey, does Yeosang know what happened or is he expecting you home," San asked. Wooyoung's eyes went wide and he hurriedly pulled out his phone.

Annoying Brat: Hey Sang, there were some shady looking guys outside the hotel when I was coming home so I called San. I'm staying with him tonight but I'm safe and ok

Yeosang started typing back almost instantly.

My World: Ok, stay safe. Love you

Annoying Brat: Love you too

"He's all caught up," Wooyoung said.

"Good, it's probably best if we get to bed, it's almost midnight," San said.

"Ok. Do you want to lay down first and then I'll lay on top of you so we both fit," Wooyoung asked.

"Sure. Could you turn off the lights first. Switch is just there," San said, pointing while he turned his phone flashlight on. Wooyoung turned off the light before he went over to the corner where San had already laid down. He slipped off his shoes before bending down and laying himself down over San's body, resting his head on his chest. San felt around before grabbing the blankets and tugging them over their bodies.

"You ready for lights out," San asked. Wooyoung hummed in reply as he snuggled closer. San turned off his flashlight and wrapped his arms around Wooyoung's waist, both boys sighing in content. It didn't take long for both of them to drift of in each other's arms.
