The white egg cracked, letting splintered pieces off eggshell fly out. A lime green snout poked out from underneath the cracked shell, cautiously sniffing the fruit-scented air around it.

"Brrrooommeliad," a voice shouted quietly somewhere close. A blue head popped out from behind a low-hanging shrub. Another head, this time red, poked out behind the blue one. "What?" the red head demanded, swiveling around to look at the blue one. A blue RainWing materialized from the shrub. "Look! I told you that an egg would hatch!" he said, pointing to the cracked egg.

The red RainWing shivered and her body show. "So? You're the one who wanted to see a new hatched dragon. You dragged me all the way out here when I could be eating fruit. Bullfrog, I could be eating a mango, right now." Bullfrog shrugged, his wings bobbing up and down. He walked over to the dragonet in the egg.

The lime green snout poked out, as well as the head. The dragonet opened his wings and the last few remaining pieces of eggshell flew off him, in other directions. He stared up at the older dragonets and chirped.

"Aww," Bullfrog said, smiling. "He's kinda cute!" Bromeliad shrugged. "Why isn't he changing color?" Bullfrog peered closer at the hatchling. "I don't know. Maybe we looked like that when we hatched?" Bromeliad shook her head. "No, we were much prettier."

The hatchling chirped up again at them. "So do we get to name him since we saw him first?" Bullfrog asked, "or what? Any ideas?" Bromeliad thought for a moment, claws on her chin. "Well, what's the next name on the list?" she inquired. Bullfrog cocked his head upward in thought.

"Chameleon. It's Chameleon."
