Ghostly groom.
Outcast version of Corpse bride.
I have so many ideas rn and I wanna write em all in one night. Ehhh.
Listen to Black Dahlia from Hollywood undead, it really fits with Jasper's back story. Give him hugs after you listen to it, won't you?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Running out into the forest during the cold night wasn't the best option. Did you care right now? Of course not, you needed to get a breath of fresh air, a break.
Your foolish parents wanted you to marry a lord, a man who promised you riches, yet his smile was anything but secure. He made you psychically ill.
Knowing that the towns harlot, Victoria would run after him with no hesitation, your parents wanted you to marry him before she could get to him.
You refused and ran out after an heated argument with the both of them.
You didn't want a forced relationship! You wanted to fall in love the old fashioned way. The right way.
You held your sweater closer to your body, shivering at the nights coldness. It had snowed the previous day.
Snowflakes caked your booted heels, low ones as to not fall on the ice below.
The moonlight was beautiful this time of year, not that many clouds were out tonight to block its beauty.
This place looked familiar, was it in one of the stories you've read? Or was it in the newspaper? This large bare oak tree made you think.
The leaves had fallen off sometime ago, most likely to the winters freezing winds.
You had taken a seat on the ground just under the tree, your dress protecting your legs from the puffy snow under you.
Funny, that stick looked a little bit like a hand. With a slight giggle you take the ring that disgusting man had given you and slid it on one of the 'fingers.'
"I must be silly but.. Mother said I would need to practice for my actual wedding day.. One that isn't forced.." You scoff.
"Ahem. With this hand I will lift your sorrows, your cup will never empty, for I will be your wine." You smile to yourself.
"With this candle, I will light your way through darkness! And with this ring, I ask you to be mine!" You adjust the ring and rest it on the right 'finger'.
"I did it!" You smile proudly and hug yourself, feeling a fluttery feeling in your chest.
All of the crickets had stopped, causing an eerie silence to go over the forest. It even seemed as if the wind had stopped...
"H-hello?" You call out, anxiety sending a shiver down your spine. A creak gains your attention.
Your eyes widen as the branch turns into a skeletal hand and it grabs your ankle tightly.
You scream and try to kick it off you, only for its grip to tighten. Its hand had popped off, still holding onto you.
You feel your heart stop as a ghostly figure rises out of the ground, it lacked its legs having ghostly tail, fading to a lovely lavender.
They wore a beaten up tuxedo, their bowtie loose and undone. A top hat rested on their skull, a pocket watch ticked away around their waist.
The smoke around them began to fade and fade, being more soft and see through. Your heart dropped at the sight of their wound.. A massive knife wound around their throat, still bleeding.
He blows the smoke out of his eyes and finally, his lavender eyes meet yours. "I do."
He slowly reaches out for you, only for you to quickly run away from him. His hand skittered after you, he quickly picks it up and glides after you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your breathing was ragged, you stopped on top of the stone bridge trying to catch your breath. Ice filled your lungs as the show began to fall.
Whatever that thing was.. Whatever he was.. He didn't seem to mean any harm.. But how would you know? Monsters still weren't popular around your village.
He looked.. Familiar somehow?
The scent of vanilla lavender filled the air around you, making you turn around... Only to be corned to the side of the bridge.
The monster smiles down at you softly. "You may now kiss the bride." The world around you felt like it was spinning as his cold 'lips' met yours in a soft kiss.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"A new arrival?"
"Looks live we've got ourselves a breather!"
"She's so soft!"
You quickly sit up, backing away from the hoard of skeletons that smiled at you in interest.
"Who are you! Wh-where am I?" You mutter, trying to keep a distance from them.
"Well.. That's kind of a long story.." The ghostly groom muttered, shrugging his shoulders.
"And what a story it is.." A chuckle is heard from the woman at the piano, her horns making her stand out from the crowd.
She adjusted her glasses and turned to you, two skeletons at her sides. One wearing pink, the other red.
"Now.. Where to begin...?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Look.. I'm terribly sorry for what's happened to you.. And I'd like to help.. But I really should get home." You admit, nervously fiddling with your fingers.
The ghost next to you nervously smiles. "This is your home now. After all, I got you a wedding present!"
A small box is set next to you as Jasper smiles cutely, you could still faintly see the tear stains on his cheekbones.
You open the box and take out.. A bone? "Thank you?"
"Blow into it silly." He smiles, giggling a little.
Lifting a brow, you flip over the bone and see its actually a bone shaped whistle? Shrugging your shoulders you blow into it.
The ground begins to shake, pebbles moving from the massive footsteps coming your way. You give Jasper a look of concern, but he just smiles reassuringly.
A giddy wolf runs up to you and nuzzles his face into your belly, wagging his tail happily.
It all came back to you, you recognized this wolf! It was the puppy you had nursed back to health! "Asher! Its my old pup Asher!" You quickly hug the wolf.
"I knew you would be happy to see him." Jasper giggles, running his phalanges down Asher's back.
"Thank you so much, I thought I had lost him. Mother never approved of dogs.. Too messy she says." You sigh, scratching behind Asher's chipped ears.
"Do you think she would have approved of me?" He asks, tilting his head.
"You're lucky you never have to meet her." You giggle slightly to yourself. Then an idea crosses your mind.
"Actually.. I think you should. Since were.. Married now. And my father to!"
Jasper claps his hands. "What a wonderful idea! I can port us there!"
"Um, maybe I should warn them? I mean... This was kind of sudden. And monsters aren't.." You try to find the right word without being offensive.
The ghost groom sighs, before nodding his head. "I see.. I guess that is a problem. Well, I'll port us to the edge of the forest then?"
You smile, feeling your sins crawling on your back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You know your girlfriend is pretty jumpy." A snake snickers, slithering up one of the logs.
"She's not my girlfriend. She's my wife, I'm sure she has a perfectly good reason for taking so long..." Jasper huffs, sitting on a tree stump with his arms crossed.
"Well, if she does. Why don't you go ask her?" The snake lifts a brow. "I'm sure she couldn't have gone far with those cold feet."
Jasper's eyes follow your footprints.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"But I'm telling you the truth! I saw him! A spirit! The one from the stories! Why won't you believe me!"
Your uncle, the towns priest rolled his eyes. "That is all but old folktale! Why would you believe something like that!"
You huffed out of frustration, stomping your boots. "You're the only one in the village that knows what happens beyond the grave! It has to be possible!"
He crosses his arms. "Aren't you supposed to be getting prepared for your wedding tomorrow? Lord Barkis is surly waiting for you."
"I don't want to marry him! He's a pig!" You argue, starting to loose your temper.
"You don't have a choice! Its for the family! You know how right our money is right now!"
"That's all it's ever about! All you care about is money! Has anyone ever thought of how I felt?" You feel tears falling down your cheeks.
The wind blew the double doors open, the sweet scent of vanilla and lavender filled the cold room of the Church.
"Sorry I'm late darling! I just wanted to meet---" Jasper blows the smoke out of his face, eyes landing on your uncle.
"Darling, who is this?" Jasper floats over to your wide, taking your arm in his.
"Who is he?" Your uncle asks, eyes wide as dinner plates.
"I'm her husband!" Jasper flickers his fingers, revealing the ring you had given him.
"You-... You can't be serious!"
"See! I told you! He's the monster from the stories! The one Victoria left in cold blood--"
The room began to get cold, all of the hairs on your neck stood on end.
"Hopscotch."
Jasper wraps his arms around your waist tightly and lifts you off of the ground, crows began to caw as the wind picked up again.
"Y/n!" Your uncle calls out to you.
"Uncle!" You call back, only for your voice to fade into the night, right before his eyes you had disappeared into the arms of a phantom.
End..?
