Octavian watched as you spent time with his other three brothers. You were smiling and laughing.

He felt.. Left out. He wasn't the most social but he always felt most comfortable when it was just you and him.

He just didn't understand why every time he invited you out, his brothers has to snatch you away from him and take up your time with their nonsense.

Growing up, Igniter always picked on him. Tearing down his self esteem, making him drown in his own insecurities.

Igniter was a jealous element, he picked on his other brothers all the same. But.. He always treated Octavian like he was the scum of the earth.

He didn't want to admit that them together kept balance between the four elements.

Igniter was the oldest by a two years, then their parents birthed triplets. He was furious. He didn't want his parents love taken away from him.

But, as they grew older they learned to live with each other. Even if Igniter moved into that volcanic cave a little ways away.

Octavian was tired of being a doormat. Tired of being a pushover. He huffs and turns away from the scene, retreating to the water to escape the sight.

His boots clicked against the dock under his feet, the waters waves calmly splashing against the boards.

A few fish surrounded the dock, happily awaiting his presence.

The water element sighed and let his legs dangle into the water, he traced different shapes and lines into the water with a single phalange.

"...Why do they always have to interfere? I met her first.." Octavian spoke aloud, a frown on his face.

A few fish swam around his legs, rubbing their sides against him like a cat would when you came home from work.

He sadly smiles at that, and gently strokes one of the koi's back.

"I don't know what to do... I wish she would look at me the way she looks at them.. Doesn't she see that I'm the one for her? What have they got that I don't?"

The koi continue to swim in circles around him, in an effort to comfort him.

He hears a stick break behind him, along with approaching footsteps. His eyes widen and he quickly dives under the water, hiding himself under the dock.

"I think he went over here!" He hears your voice and it makes his soul thump in his ribcage.

"Please that crybaby is always hiding.." He hears Igniter huff in annoyance.

His smile falls at the sound of his brothers voice.

"Stop it, Igniter. Octavian? Are you out here? Aspen made stew!" You call out for him, your feet thudding against the dock above him.

"I don't get why you hang out with that wet blanket." Igniter scoffs, crossing his arms.

You send him a glare. "I don't think he's out here."

"Whatever. He'll show up when he feels like it. Come on, I starving." The fire element grabs you by the hand and leads you away from the dock.

"I think you treat him like shit since you know he could totally kill you." You pull your arm out of his grip, crossing your arms.

"Pfft. No, he's just a big baby who needs to toughen up. Besides, that baby wouldn't lay a hand on me since he knows I'd punch his lights out." Ignited chuckles.

"He could put you out you know."

"I'm not an idiot. Water puts out fire!" He does jazz hands with a sarcastic look on his face. "Not always sweetheart, its dirt or rocks."

Octavian smiled. His brother was scared of him.. He just hid it with his insults.. He was mean to him because he was scared..

"Actually you smother the flames with wet mud." You huff, following the prideful element.

"Well too bad we don't have a dirt covered stone element." He says with a confident smirk. "Now come on, Aspen doesn't like to wait."

As your footsteps fade into the forest, the water elemental pulled himself out of the water.

He grins.

"Time for payback."

Igniter looks over your sleeping form. After dinner you instantly fell asleep thanks to Aspen's amazing cooking.

Octavian didn't join them, again.

You laid on the couch with your head in Alistair's lap, the air element read his book with a smile, running his phalanges through your hair.

Igniter yawned. "Alright, I'm going to bed." He stands up from the loveseat and stretches his arms.

"You're going already? Well.. Could you check on Octavian? I'm worried he's not eating enough." Aspen comments with worry in his evergreen eyes.

"Yeah, yeah whatever." Igniter shrugs his shoulders and takes his leave, being careful not to fall off the rope ladder on the way down.

Aspen shuts the door behind him, a hand on his chest.

"What?" Alistair looks up at his brother, noticing the troubled look on his face.

"I do not know.. Something in the way the wind ruffled my leaves.. I fear something truly bad is going to happen.." The earth element looks out the window as worry fills his soul.

The fire element, walked through the woods with his feet burning dead grass beneath him.

"Stupid ass Octavian." He sighs, failing to notice the figure following him.

"You're scared aren't you?"

The fire element jumps and turns to look behind him. His face falls onto a frown as his amber eyes meet the oceanic blue ones of his brothers.

"Scared of what? The woods? Hell no." Igniter crosses his arms.

"Of me. You always tore me down to make yourself feel better.. But deep down.. You know I could hurt you.. Every night you have nightmares of all the things I could do.." Octavian's voice is lower, lacking any emotion.

"W-what? Don't get stupid ideas in that empty skull of yours. I'm NOT scared of some-"

"The more you deny it the more I believe it. How dumb can you be? Do you know what happens to a candle when its submerged underwater?" Octavian grows closer to his brother. His steps slow.

"Octavian, what's wrong with you? You're being creepy as hell.." Igniter backs away, sweat on his brow, causing steam to burn off his skull.

"For years I've dealt with your torment.. You always made me feel like an outcast.. Like I shouldn't have been born." The water elemental's eyes go dark, pupils disappearing and leaving dark sockets.

Igniter continues to back away, his boned rattling in unease as his boots tapped against the old wood of the dock.

"...I'm tired of it. I'm not going to be your emotional plaything anymore.." Octavian takes it one step at a time, creeping closer.

"Octave-"

"Shut your mouth. You've always taken things from me.. Fathers ring, Mother's necklace.. Y/n."

"What does y/n have to do with-"

"Don't you dare speak of her! She's the only thing I've got left and I'm not letting you take her from me!" The prince snarls, charging forward, grabbing his brothers throat and tackling him into the water.

The fire element's mouth filled with the murky water, Octavian's burning blue eyes glowed in the darkness of the lake as the two of them sank deeper.

The fire in Igniter's eyes began to fade, dimming as the water felt like acid burning into him.

He struggled to shove his brother off of him, the flames he tried to summon, burned out instantly before they could even touch the water element.

He struggled to breathe, as his vision became spotty, he used all his might to smack his fist into Octavian's eye socket.

Octavian groaned and pulled back, holding his aching eye socket.

Igniter took the opportunity to swim to the surface while his brother was injured.

In his panic, he swam as fast as he could, before he broke out into the surface, he gasped for air.

His torso hung over the dock, he coughed up water as he tired to get a deep breath in.

His body felt cold and heavy, like a block of ice, his flames were a dull blue, he shivered as he tried to pull the rest of his body up onto the dock.

Octavian lunged out of the water, he grabbed Igniter by the shoulders and used a sharp sea shell to stab him in the back of the neck.

Blood covered the dock instantly, and began to swirl into the water with him.

His brothers body went limp, the water element let out a sigh in relief and pulled himself onto the dock.

He stared down at the remaining pile of dust and blood that was once his brother.

He turned away but not before kicking the pile of dust into the water.

You let out a small yawn as you open your eyes, wet fingers ran though your hair.

You felt warm. You looked up at the skeleton holding you in his lap.

Octavian hummed to himself as he stared down at you lovingly.

You almost smiled, then you saw the blood on his cheek.

"Octav-"

"Shhh~ Go back to sleep darling, this will all seem like a bad dream." The prince smiles softly, pecking your forehead.

You suddenly felt.. Tired. You yawned and closed your eyes while the lovesick element held you close.

You and the other two of his brothers completely oblivious to the lake tainted with a secret only a few feet away.

"I love you so much Darling.~"
