Hero.| Gael x reader.

Haven't seen this beautiful boy in some time. I know how crazy you all go for him.~ <3

I like how most of my popular skeles are based off of my own favorite character tropes/themes.

I really hope the art's there.. -_-

Gael fangirls where are you at?

(This is angst-y but its got a happy ending, no worries)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gael was a gentle monster. He never really got that angry all that often. He was pretty level headed, he'd always count to ten if he got agitated.
Gael dressed classy. He always wanted to look his best, even if he wasn't going out that day.
He would do anything to keep his family safe. Even innocent bystanders, he'd protect them with his life regardless of what they've done.
Daily, he'd get a bundle of flowers for the lonely women outside of the library. He'd walk the sweet elderly women across the street. He's gotten stray soccer balls out of the road for children many times.
He was always observant. Always being aware of the people and monsters around him, just in case he needed to step in if anything went south.
He never got trigger happy unless he absolutely needed to. Of course being in the 'family business' he always had to keep a socket out for anyone suspicious.
He wouldn't call himself a hero really.. He's done bad things, I mean.. Who hasn't? He's got blood on his hands. But, he always tries to make up for it with his good deeds.
Gael continues to walk down the sidewalk of the busy city, one day he'd love to settle down in the countryside. But of course, that was a dream of his.
Children's laughter could be heard from the park across the street. Gael chuckled to himself. "To be young again.." He smiles as he walks passed the park gates.
He looks down at his wrist watch. "About time for lunch. I really should get somethin'."
With a snap of his phalanges he disappeared in the blink of an eye. Leaving behind an electric charge of raw magic in his wake.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The warm familiar atmosphere welcomed him with open arms, as the fedora clad skeleton plopped down at the bar, he smiled seeing a familiar face.

Your back was to him, you wore a slightly faded pink waitress dress. A white apron around your waist as you fiddled with the coffee machine.

"'Ello there darlin'." He greets you, resting his skull on his gloved hand.

You jumped up a little, before turning and smiling at him. "Hey there Gael. Is it three thirty already?"

Gael nods his head. "Sure is darlin'. Now, would ya mind bein' a good lass and gettin' me am Irish coffee?" He asks, winking at you.

Your cheeks turned that adorable pink shade he loved, before you grabbed the coffee pot. "Sure thing Gael."

You were far too sweet for your own good. Gael knew this. Its why he kept an extra socket on you, he knew how bad people could be to someone like you.

They would use you, use your kindness against you, then throw you out like yesterdays trash.

He didn't want that delightful gleam to ever leave your beautiful eyes. If it did, he wouldn't hesitate to get his 'problem solver' and beat some sense into the person that hurt you.

He shook his head once you sat his drink and favorite muffin flavour in front of him. He slid a fifty dollar bill to you before winking once more and taking a sip of his coffee.

"Mmm.." He moans. "Delicious as always, darlin'. I swear you're a wizard when it comes to coffee."

Your cheeks burned a deep apple red, making him chuckle. He loved to see you all embarrassed. You were far too cute for your own good.

"Its just from the machine.." You reply, avoiding his lidded gaze.

Gael shrugs his shoulders. "Hmm. I don't think so, it never tastes the same when you don't make it. Its why you're my favorite."

"Stop it." You giggle and tuck your hair behind your ear out of embarrassment.

Gael's eyes suddenly looked over his shoulder. Gaze hidden under the darkness of his fedora, he recognized the man that had just sat down at the booth by the doors.

"Y/n. I need ya to listen to me and listen good.. Go in the back room and stay there.." His tone drops, and his face turns sour.

"..what's wrong?" You ask him, nervously fiddling with your now shaking hands.

He shakes his head. "I'll tell you later.. Please, get your head down and call the police." He reaches his hand into his vest.

You took the hint and quickly sped walked into the backroom, being sure to lock the door behind you. You grabbed your phone out of your locker and started to dial.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gael watched as you tried to leave without causing suspicion. Once he heard the door lock he was quick on his feet and he quickly took out his pistol.
The man from before, already had his gun to the skeletons head, ready to pull the trigger.
Gael smirks lightly. "It took you long enough to find me. Are you just really bad with directions? Or are you just stupid?"
The man spit out his toothpick. "Shut you mouth G. Where is your girl?"
"Rude. Are you always that angry all the time? Or is it because of that hair cut, if so, I'd be angry too." Gael winks.
The man hissed gritting his teeth, his gun clicking, but before it could put a bullet in the skeletons chest, Gael has disappeared in the blink of an eye.
"What the f*ck."
"Surprise!" Gael's kicks the man in his pride, causing him to fall to the ground in pain.
His shiny penny loafer pins the man down to the ground, he kicked his gun to the side. "Who sent you?" Gael's eyes burn with a angry hot fire.
".. Why would I tell you?" He coughs.
Gael snakes his head, his foot pushing down harder on the mans throat. "You're gonna tell me what you want with her.. You're time is running out."
"..Milo wanted her.. The dame would have been perfect for a ransom..her father has money.."
The fedora clad skeleton frowns. Before aiming his pistol at the mans head. "..Scum like you make me sick. She's done nothing to get caught up in this shit show."
"F*ck you-!"
Gael closes his eyes as blood covered his face. He could hear the sirens ringing from not so far away.
The skeleton turned to the frightened customers hidden under the tables. His soul shaking once he locked eyes with a crying child.
"Damn it. I'm.. Terribly sorry everyone.. He's gone now. You're safe now." He tries his bed to reassure them, before leaving the body to rot and find you.
"Hey, you feelin' lucky, G?"
Gael turns his head, and his eyes widen as other man hidden in the corner booth aims his pistol at the monster.
Before his own magic could protect him, a bullet had shot through his ribcage.
His 'ears' began to ring as he fell to the floor, blood and marrow staining his vest.
The gunman quickly ran out of the dinner as the red and blue flashing lights grew brighter.
Gael had landed on his back, his gloved hand covering his wound, his slightly faded eyes looked up for you, you had ran out of the back room, to his side in matter of seconds.
You pulled him into your lap, keeping his head up, you clasped his hand with yours. "Gael! Please, stay awake.. Don't leave me." Tears fell down your cheeks onto his chest.
He chucked weakly. "I wouldn't dream of it darlin.' Its just a scratch.." He struggled to sit up in your hold. "This life is dangerous y/n, I knew this would happen eventually.. He won't get away with it..."
You held him closer, afraid for whatever time he has left. "Just hold on for me.." You whispered.
Dozens of officers had ran into the dinner with their firearms, paramedics ran inside with medical kits.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You had never left his side that night. He was a terrible liar, it wasn't a scratch at all..it was much worse when you two had gotten to the hospital.

He had two broken ribs, one of them had the bullet lodged into it. Most of his blood was the marrow from his bones being cracked and broken.

The doctors said he was lucky that the bullet missed his soul by seven inches. Otherwise.. You tried not to think of the other outcome.

Once he was allowed to leave the hospital, you had taken him home with you. He slept all day, on and off, and he couldn't stand for too long, but you knew he was a fighter. You and him would get through this.

His head laid in your lap, he was having another one of his naps again. His fedora rest on the arm rest.

"Darlin' did I ever tell ya that you're an angel?" Gael says with a tired smile. "I've taken a bullet for you, and I'd be willing to take twenty if it meant I could keep you safe."

You sadly stroke his cheek. "I know you would.. You're my hero." You bent slightly to press a soft kiss to his teeth.

He returns the kiss the best he can, while his phalanges tangle themselves in your hair.

Whether he wanted to admit it or not, he saved countless lives, making him the true hero he really was.

End! I hope you enjoyed, I wanted to try writing some angst.

I'll see you next time!

Xoxo -Artsy.
