Chapter Twenty Two
"Oh my god!" I yell out in embarrassment, "I do not have a crush on you."
I walk into the house with him following behind me, "You sure because you always smile when you're around me and you blush." He laughs. "Anyways there's something I wanna talk to you about."
I stop walking and he comes up beside me, "What is it?" I ask him curious about what he wants to talk about.
"What if I told you that you didn't have to change every full moon, that you could turn on command. And if you do turn it wouldn't be painful, would you be interested?" Kai asks and it got me thinking.
I ponder on his words. The transformation being painless would be wonderful and turning at will is good, but nothing is this good without a downside. "What's the catch," I ask him.
"Well, Klaus didn't really say but I assume you become a vampire," Kai explains to me. Do I want to become a vampire?
"Can I have some time to think about it?" I ask him and he nods his head. "Also, if I were to say yes, would you turn to?"
He smiles down at me, "Why, do you want to spend an eternity with me? You know since you have a crush on me." I glare at him, "Okay, okay. If you say yes, then I'll change with you."
I nod my head, grateful that whatever I choose I don't have to be alone, that he will be there with me. "Alright, you go do your thing, I'm going to go take a shower." I leave him in the hallway as I walk back to make room.
He walks back up to me and grabs my face, his eyes fluttered closed, full lips coming gently to lock with mine. His hands went slithering around my waist, lips conjoined like two puzzle pieces, the taste of his mouth intoxicating. His nose squished against mine as he dipped in deeper for the briefest of moments before drawing back and we both smile before walking our separate ways.
I quickly take a shower and change my clothes. I still think about what Kai said. On one hand, I could be with my family forever and make up for lost time. But on the other, I'll be a vampire. Maybe it's not as bad as it sounds.
I leave my room and try to find the others. I wonder the halls and find them all in the dining room. "You're just in time for dinner," Elijah says as he sees mine in the room.
I notice an empty seat next to Kai and across from Klaus and I walk up to it and sit down. "Have you thought about what I said?" Kai whispers to me. I think he forgot that everyone besides the two of us and Freya is vampires.
I look down at my plate and shrug, "I've thought about it, but I don't have an answer." I reply and as we talk I see Klaus look up and eye Kai.
"What are you guys talking about?" He asks but he looks like he already knows. Everyone at the table looks over at me and Kai.
I give Klaus a look because I didn't want to tell everyone, at least not yet. "It's nothing important," I tell them.
"Seems to me like it is important if you haven't made a decision yet," Kol speaks as he eats some of the food from his plate.
I look at Kai for support and he grabs my hand, "We were talking about whether or not I want to become a hybrid." I glance at Klaus and he gives me a reassuring smile.
"Well, I think that's a good idea," Elijah says and looks at Haley.
Haley looks at me, "I'm a hybrid so if you have questions you can ask me." She tells me and I nod.
"Can I ask," Klaus speaks, "what's keeping you from making the decision?"
I look back down at my plate that is still untouched, "I don't know" I reply honestly. "Maybe it's because I don't have much experience with vampires."
The table went silent for a moment and I thought I had said something wrong, that I had somehow offended them. But Elijah speaks up, "Honestly, it's not as bad as you think it is." I hear the rest of them agree with him and I nod my head.
I stay silent thinking over my decision. "We could also make you an original vampire," Freya says and I look over at her.
"How?" I ask and I see Kai lean in closer, he too is curious.
"There's this spell that our mom wrote when she created vampires and I have it," Freya admits.
I stare down at my food as I ponder on their words. I know what I have to do. I look up at Klaus, "If I say yes, you have to promise me that he," I point over at Kai, "gets turned to. He said that he would."
Klaus looks at me as if he wasn't expecting me to say that, then he looks at Kai who nods. "You have my word."
I look at Kai for a brief moment before turning back to make a family, "Then I'll do it."
