Chapter Twenty One
Klaus leads me up a room that he said I could stay in. Klaus and all of them look so different than the last time I saw them. People change and thousand years is a long time.
I thank him and I open the bedroom door. Klaus walks back down the hall as I enter the room.
The room wasn't too big but it also wasn't too small. The walls were brown just like everything else in their house.
I make my way over to the bed and sit on the edge of it. Digging my phone out of my pocket, I dial Kai's number.
"Hello, missing me already?" Kai answers the phone.
I smile at his comment, "Well, yes, but that's not why I called." I reply to him.
"Well, enlighten me then."
I take a deep breath, "Kai," I start and I can hear the nervousness in my voice. "Tonight's a full moon," I whisper, knowing that my whole family is vampires and I don't want them to hear.
"Shit." He pauses for a moment, "Do you want me to come down there?" He asks and I want to say yes.
I can feel the transformation start to happen, I guess it's a good thing it's slow. "I don't know if you can make it in time," I tell him.
"You do remember that I am a witch right? I'm coming." He says and the line goes dead. I open the bedroom door to see if I can try to escape to go outside without them noticing.
I walk down a long hall that goes outside and almost makes it to the door. "Where are you going," Klaus asks.
I turn around to face him, "I'm just..." I quickly try to come up with a lie, "going to get fresh air."
I can tell he doesn't believe me, "This doesn't have anything to do with that boy you were talking to does it?" After he said those words my heart froze.
"You were eavesdropping on me? How much did you hear?" I ask him. I feel the pain start but I try to ignore it.
He walks up to me and puts his hand on my shoulder, "I know you're scared of the full moon tonight because you're going to turn."
"That's not true. I haven't triggered the curse." I lie to him. We both know that I am lying though.
"Let me help you."
I shake my head, "You don't understand, you didn't have to go through it, at least not alone. I don't need your help." I tell him and start for the door again. More pain comes when I move and lean forward placing my hand on the wall.
Klaus grabs me and takes me outside, "I can help you if you'd let me."
Tears start falling down my face, "I need Kai." I whisper. "He knows how to take the pain away." I sink to the ground and lay there with Klaus standing over me.
He kneels down beside me, "How do I find this Kai?"
"He said that he was on his way a few minutes ago, but I don't think he'll get here in time," I whisper unable to find my voice.
"I'm sure he'll make it." He assures me. "In fact, I know he will." He stands up and turns around, "You must be the infamous Kai."
I see him standing there smiling at Klaus, "Sure am, I'm sure she's told you all about me." I hear him respond.
I sit up off of the ground, "Kai, you should do the spell now."
"Right." He walks over to me and starts the spell and the pain ceases to exist. "There you go."
"Thanks," I respond as I fully transform into a wolf and I run off into the woods.
........
I stand there awkwardly next to Klaus, "So, what has she told you about me." I break the silence. I avert my eyes from the woods that she ran into her twin.
"That she has a crush on you," Klaus says smiling as he turns to look at me.
"Well, I'd hope so. I was stuck for ten years with her hating me, it took me eight more for her to love me." I explain to him remembering back on the days of the prison world. "Thanks by the way. For helping her get out and by her I mean us."
"I and my family made a vow long ago, 'always and forever' she's family, you I'm not sure about." He pauses, "What if I told you she didn't have to change every full moon?"
I look at him confused, "How would you know? You're not a wolf."
"Not completely, I'm a hybrid. She can become one to if she wanted. She wouldn't have to go through the transformation, she could change at will and it wouldn't be painful." He explains.
"I'll talk to her about it," I tell him.
It goes silent. None of us have anything to say. I hear Angel howl in the distance and I smile.
"I saw the way you look at her," Klaus speaks up breaking the silence. "You love her." I think about denying it because if my father were to find out about her he would use her to get to me.
If she trusts him then so do I, "Yeah I do. But hey this witch, Bonnie, was in the prison world with us and she sent Angel's magic away. Do you know how to get it back?" Changing the subject because I hate talking about my feelings, or what's left of my feelings.
"That is a question for our older sister, Freya." He walks over to a bench and sits down. "Thank you for helping her tonight, and all the other times when I wasn't there for her," Klaus says sounding sad.
I walk over to him and sit beside him, "If it makes you feel better she didn't know you were a vampire. She thought you were dead. She's not disappointed in you for not helping her, you know."
Hours pass as we talk about her, about his life and about mine, how much the world has changed. We talk about everything until the sun rises. "I'm going to go get some of Rebekah's clothes for Angelyn," Klaus says as he stands up and walks into the house.
I nod at him and stare off into the woods. I think about how much easier my life will be once I win the merge and become coven leader.
Klaus walks back and lays the clothes on the ground next to the trees and he leads me back to the house. A few minutes pass as we stand outside the house not saying anything.
Klaus turns back to the woods, "Have you guys been out here all night?" I hear her ask as I turn around as well. We both nod.
"Well, I'll let you guys talk," Klaus says and he sends me a look.
I grab Angel's hand, "So I hear you have a crush on me."
