IN WHICH, Scout Reid is going to prove to
the world that she is definitely meant for this.

Scout Reid lives in her brother's shadow, and she's about damn tired of it.

She had done everything she could to pull herself away from that shadow. Scout had made herself into everything that her brother was not. Where Spencer had been book smart, Scout was street smart. Where he had found comfort in the library, with his nose pressed into books, she had found her comfort on the soccer field. He had been socially awkward, and she was charismatic and charming . . . but Spencer Reid was the genius, and in their mother's eyes, that was all that mattered.

Even into adulthood, Scout Reid could not escape the shadow that was Spencer Reid. It followed her into their careers; despite their (very obvious) different talents. Not that it mattered; not really, not in the end.

In the end, it was Scout that had the guts to leave - their mother had fallen far too ill, and it had been clear as day that one of the children needed to go home, but even at home, in the Las Vegas PD, she could not escape that shadow. Scout felt as if she could never not be Spencer Reid's little sister. It followed her everywhere; it followed her home, it followed her to work, and in the days of technology, it also followed her online.

Almost ten years after her departure from the BAU, it's a phone call from an old friend that invites her out of the shadows. Scout Reid has almost ten years of more experience and more education - and if Scout Reid had learned anything in the last few years, is that no one can define who she is (not even her older brother).

Scout Reid is her own damn person, even if she has to prove it to the world.

author's note; hello! so, I don't really remember if I've ever introduced Scout Reid before, but she's a character I've written before, and I'm really excited to bring her back. I'm also really excited for the angst coming, so sit back, buckle up and let's get this shit started!!
