PART ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY ONE

8.

In May of 1979, Heather Grace finally reached a destination she had been trying to reach over a period of months. It hadn't been an actual location she had been trying to get to so much as it was a travelling person she had been seeking. Accompanied by her steadfast best friend Hazel Watts, Heather caught up with a certain Madam Russo.

All the two friends would get for their troubles was an ever so brief visit, a visit with which came the message to go home. With it being quite clear that Heather was not going to get the answers she so badly sought and with the fact that the arrival of her child would be only weeks away, as was Heather's own death with which she could not foresee, Heather and Hazel had no option other than to indeed head home.

The carnival tent used by Madam Russo had two sections: well three in fact with two open to the public. First section had been a kind of waiting area and the main fortune telling area so happened to be the other. Coming out of that fortune telling area and after having briefly talked with Madam Russo both Heather and Hazel are a little taken aback by the presence of a young lady, someone not all so much younger than either of the two friends. Taken aback as they were, added to their decision not to hang around in an attempt to get what they came for.

Little could they know that this other young lady so happens to be Lexi Hansen, the granddaughter of Heather Grace, the daughter of Heather's as of yet unborn child who also will so happen to be a daughter. Such a thing had been speculated upon though at that such a thing seemed quite impossible.

Lexi has in her own past been warned of the consequences of time travel and she has also been warned not to abuse her gift for to partake in such of her own accord as in doing so with her own grandmother, she possibly could serious harm all it is that Darkness himself has worked towards. But Lexi couldn't help it. Maybe it is something handed down by her grandmother through genes or perhaps it is something else, Lexi's curious nature at times got the better of her.

She had answers of her own to find and perhaps right here in the tent of a fortune teller in May of 1979 is the place to begin what would become a quest for answers or perhaps it will just spark a realization. How odd is it that both grandmother and granddaughter have moments which could be thought of as quests and how odd it is for both that it takes them to the same person in the same moment of time?

Yeah, Lexi has questions. She has, under orders, visited Hazel Watts a month from now to tell her not to go in search of Heather's daughter, Lexi's own mother and with that moment indeed being a month away in linear time, it is a moment which has already occurred for Lexi. With the circumstances of Heather's death, her daughter is ... misplaced, surely something which Darkness has and will have a hand in. Lexi's orders are ... were ... to ensure that Hazel does not attempt to find out what happened to the child and her words to Hazel had that effect as Hazel does as she has been told.

Still Hazel is curious as to what is going on but her grief in losing a close friend keeps her from potentially doing something she might one day regret. Maybe one day she will find certain things out but for her own time as it is and was in 1979 and for the years that follow, she keeps to herself. The curiosity is there for Lexi too. Where did her mother go after she was born?

Growing up Lexi never knew that there were odd circumstances surrounding her mother's birth, she knew her mum's mum died long ago but such things were never discussed. There were issues surrounding mother and daughter stemming from a time when eight-year-old Lexi vanished one day and reappeared, issues even going onto the memory an appearance of a girl on the day Lexi was born and then the talks a young Lexi apparently had with shadows on walls beginning on the day she had her first vanishing moment.

Close to turning eighteen and having that return moment to 1979, Lexi wanted to know more about herself and where she has come to be is as good a place as any to start asking questions. 'What did you tell her?' Lexi would ask of Madam Russo.'

'Nothing ... I told them nothing.'

The conversation would go on with Lexi asking the lady before her as to if she knows who it is she is speaking to and the simple reply was a surprising yes extending onto the point of madam Russo telling Lexi that she is the granddaughter of the lady Madam Russo had only just sent away. Lexi is told that her own soul is dark, and her own heart is black. Her heart will not bleed. It will feed on the souls of others. Hearing this frightened Lexi. It is the first time she has truly been frightened in her life and it will also be the last. It also set off an anger, an anger she would need to address right away.

Lexi does not hang around. She vanishes from Madam Russo's tent as she also vanishes from 1979. She arrives back in her own time, not all so far away from when the big event of 2018 is to take place. Darkness is waiting for her and he does not need to remind her of the consequences of going off through time by herself can have.

'What am I?' she asks.

'My dear, you know what you are, you know who you are, and you have known for some time. Now is not for questions, now is for acceptance. You and your sisters will soon have work to do.'

Nothing more needs to be said. Lexi Hansen does know her place; she has always known her place, odd as it is she just needed time to figure it all out. She is a daughter of Darkness and her moment of acceptance has indeed come and in time she will be responsible for many dark things. Strange as it may be, there is something within her that may plague her in later life to the point that she will feel that she will have to do something to put some things right.
