PART NINETY SEVEN

2.

Lacey Ellis, her one and only pregnancy changed absolutely everything about her. She became a completely different person to what she had been. Darkness using Lacey as a vessel took a hold of her in a way she could not have seen coming, how could anyone see such a thing coming? If any of the nine Earth bound mothers to be used by Satan could have had a premonition or could have even guessed at what might have been on its way then that could have been Lacey Ellis.

Formerly Lacey Nevins before marrying a certain Benjamin Ellis, as a child she had been drawn to the activities or at least to the subjects or vessels of Satan. As a child and within a public park she had been drawn to a certain Estelle Fontaine at a time Missus Fontaine was pregnant with a daughter. Estelle Fontaine had found a spot she had liked to go sit and with her 'condition' at the time her surroundings altered, and this fascinated a young Lacey Ellis/Nevins. Sure, a part of those surroundings has come to stay with Lacey.

With all she had been drawn to, Lacey had always been pleasant and considerate. When Benjamin found Lacey, he considered himself to be blessed. Beautiful and always supportive, Lacey was so easy to be around, and Ben missed her completely when she was not around. She had his heart right from the start so when she suggested they start a family Ben felt his life couldn't be any better.

Then it began. Trying to make babies can indeed be fun though when the end game results in failure then fun may not be all it is cracked up to be. To conceive a child of their own, Ben and Lacey Ellis needed to seek aid and before confirmation could come that the aid was successful Lacey was spooked during one doctor appointment in particular. Unbeknown, at least at the time of discovery, it could not be known that something else aided the pregnancy to occur.

It could be thought or said that at the very moment of an odd moment in the doctor's office Lacey changed or at least began to change, though maybe events from her childhood already had her set her on that course of change. Once pregnant, change really kicked it. In only a matter of weeks Lacey thinned, her skin paled and her hair darkened. She became angry and suspicious and so sickly that Benjamin, along with Lacey's very own sister, had no option but to place Lacey into care, both for her own good and for the good of the child she so happened to be carrying.

And with that Lacey Ellis would spend five months plus being very pregnant within an unsavoury or at least a not very savoury mental health facility. The facility would be very much ready for the arrival of a child. Once this place had become home to Lacey Ellis, those of position were not and would not be willing to let her go so when the time came to give birth ... well Lacey would not be going anywhere. Those in charge certainly were not even willing to let her go to any kind of maternity ward. In house doctors would deliver her baby.

A lengthy labour and a difficult birth with a great deal of difficulty being created by mother rather than the delivery itself is what would be dealt with. Lacey would swing at and hit anything and anyone she could, cuss and bad mouth the whole time through. Arms would have to be strapped down at the wrists indeed to restrain the lashing out. Her shoulders and ankles would have to be physically restrained by a number of orderlies. Her choice of language hurled abuse the whole time and when the child did come, Lacey Ellis demanded to see her daughter.

With her wrists still strapped to the bed mum would briefly get to see the new-born.

'My baby, my little girl ...' she cooed as the child came as close as orders would permit. 'Release my arms, let me hold her ... please ... no ... wait ... where are you going? Where are you taking my baby?'

And then the baby was gone, bundled up and taken out of the room from which she was born within. Ben Ellis was in the vicinity as was Lacey's sister Sharon. With Lacey's attitude it was thought best that Ben and Sharon should stay out in a hallway. They could always come back and see Lacey at another time, another time where she'd be at least a little ways relaxed.

How odd it would be that on the day Nancy Ellis was born, a comment would be passed between doctor and an orderly stating how much of a witch Lacey Ellis happens to be when in years to come two girls accused of being witches would eventually share a near-by room. That had not been the only moment she had been considered to be a witch.

When Benjamin did next come to see his wife, she was once again restrained, strapped to a bed. She began pleasant enough, asking about her daughter. 'Can I see her?' she would then ask.

'I have been asked by those in charge here not to bring Nancy, not yet at least. They are worried about how you might react.'

'She is my daughter; I have a right to see her.'

'Yes, you do but we will wait a little while, alright?'

'No, that's not alright' Lacey's demeanour and tone of voice beginning to change. 'Bring me my daughter ... bastard ... bring me her ...'

Her demeanour continued to change, and it did so, so quickly as if she is reverting to some kind of animalistic form of what Human's may have once been. She even makes the attempt to bite Benjamin, only her restraints held her back. Benjamin has no option other than to leave the facility when this occurs, and it breaks his heart. There had been the hope that once their daughter came into the world that Lacey would revert to her regular self, of course that did not and does not happen.

A loss of sanity can be spoken of though Lacey Ellis never lost her intelligence, she always knew when and where she was. She always knows what was going around her, once she came to the facility that is. Being able to keep up with time, she knew how things, certain things, would be.

No more than a few weeks after the arrival of a certain Majella Smith and at a time when Lacey knew that her own daughter would have turned thirteen years of age, Lacey Ellis sees something, she sees someone. Through the small, steel mesh covered window of the room she sleeps within, Lacey could see a girl standing outside, standing too far away to interact with.

Without speaking or having to be told anything, Lacey knew that girl is her daughter; sure, an occurrence before her daughter was born ensured that she would recognize her daughter when she matured. What was that occurrence? Well let's say they came together at a time before Nancy was even born.

In this instance here, Lacey briefly looks away in an attempt to find a way to get outside though when she looks back, the girl is gone. At the time of day this moment happens, Lacey has the freedom to move from her room to the common room, provided her temper remains in check. From a position in the common room, she searches for her daughter through the windows which are steel mesh covered. All of the windows with which the guests have access to are steel mesh covered.

Yeah, this brief moment comes at a time when Nancy Ellis has gone missing from her home, a time too not so long after having taken her father's life. There is no further sign of Nancy on facility grounds though Lacey is sure that she will see her daughter again.
