14. ARE WE TAKING MY CAR?

Hunger.

Boredom.

Despair.

Hunger.

Boredom.

Despair.

Charlie just couldn't get out of that loop, trapped inside the Lockwood underground tunnels until the sun decided to shove it. All because she didn't have a daylight ring.

But the sun is a stubborn little shit, and petty, too. It decided to stay out longer than it should, dragging the minutes along with him and making Charlie feel like a month had passed. Her gums were aching, longing for letting its canines grow and sink them into fresh human flesh so Charlie could feed on sweet crimson human blood.

Besides, it's not like she had entertainment—unlike me, because I can see whatever I want and whilst she was dying away (bit dramatic but yes) in the tunnels, I was being mesmerized by the shenanigans (that word is awesome) Kai Parker does in his prison world. The only thing she could do was play with her magic—that now was unlimited—but it just didn't feel right. Yes, it was her own magic, but she much preferred it when Kol's magic or Nik's magic was running through her veins, making her skin feel like it was on fire. Her own magic just seemed dull. No fire. Just a pan out of the oven burn—which is blah. And oh, I nearly forgot, her senses, every sense, every nerve, everything in her body was heightened, and to be honest, it was causing her a shitty headache.

She had to get out.

Thus, as soon as the last ray of sunshine hit that side of the Earth, and the moon and stars were the only things shining, Charlie dashed out of the cave so fast one would mistake her by a middle-aged woman on a black Friday in an appliances store—no offense to anyone, that was merely the first thing in my mind, therefore I apologize for any misconceptions. And when she reached the road, it was just in time to make out a car coming through. Making herself stumble, she put her hand out, in hopes that the car stopped.

And her prayers were heard because the vehicle stopped in front of her, a redhead woman lowering the glass and gasping ("Oh my. . . .") when she saw Charlie's appearance. Not that I can blame her. Charlie looked like someone taken out of a really bloody movie. Her clothes were basically soaked in blood, and her hair, her beautiful blonde hair, well, it wasn't blonde anymore.

"Get out of the car," Charlie said looking straight at the woman's eyes and she did as she was told. A smirk grew on the heretic's lips as she successfully compelled someone. "Don't move."

And the woman didn't. With a horrified face, she paled as she saw Charlie's face morph, the veins under her eyes growing dark, her teeth lengthening, and her eyes turning red.

"Wh-What are you?" the woman asked fearfully and Charlie tilted her head.

"The last thing you'll see," said Charlie.

She grabbed the woman by her neck and sunk her fangs into her throat. The woman screamed in pain but that only made the adrenaline Charlie was feeling grow, and she only stopped when the body fell limp on the ground.

"Thank you so much," Charlie said as she licked the blood from her lips. "I owe you one."

And stepping over the body, Charlie got into the woman's car and took off again.

The next part will be really boring, well, for me at least, so I'll just be skimming through it. Basically, Charlie sneaked into someone's house; well, not sneaked, she compelled them to let her in and she showered and got dressed in other clothes. Oh and I should probably mention she drained the man and the woman that lived there dried, too. And she broke into a jewelry shop and got herself a daylight necklace (that only worked because she used her juju on it)—the necklace was rather simple, a thin chain and a small droplet-shaped pendant with the lapis lazuli in it—and a daylight ring (as a backup).

And now, she was sitting on the counter of the Grill, late at night, so much so the place was deserted—well, that and she had broken her way in. She was drinking from her glass when she felt something wooden pierce through her right shoulder. Gritting her teeth, Charlie grabbed the stake and yanked it out, turning to see Elena Gilbert and Bonnie Benett standing a few feet away from her.

"What?" Charlie drawled, standing up. "Came to kill me?"

"But—I saw you die!" Elena shrieked and Charlie sighed.

"Well, it didn't really stick," she said with a shrug. "But seeing as you look all mournful, I'm guessing someone did die."

"You killed Damon, " Elena cried as Stefan and Caroline swooshed in. The latter two wanting to know why Elena and Bonnie left the boarding house.

"One, that wasn't me, " Charlie said, clicking her tongue. "I was dead when that happened so I honestly didn't even know he died. Shame. He was hot."

"Elena, don't do anything you'll regret," Caroline said calmly, walking over to her friend and lowering the crossbow.

"It's all her fault," Elena cried again, making Charlie roll her eyes.

She took a brief moment to search Stefan's face, seeing all the mixed emotions in him. She knew he was struggling, struggling to keep the switch on. Struggling not to let go. And for some reason, Charlie felt sorry for him.

"Stefan, " Charlie called out, mustering her sympathy for him as to not sound like a cold-hearted bitch. He looked up at her and his eyes were full of grief. "I'm leaving. I'm planning on taking a trip. And I know you must want to leave, too. I know you don't have your bloodlust under control but I can help."

"What?" Stefan asked confused, sharing a glance with Caroline. The latter was frowning at Charlie as the doppelganger and Bonnie narrowed their eyes.

"I may be new to this vampire bullshit, " Charlie began. "But I know more than you think. I know you want to turn it off. I get it. Your brother died. But then you'd have all that crap and hassle of the ripper blah, blah, blah. So, I'm making you an offer, let's just try. Leave with me and I'll try to teach you control. If you can't, well, you can turn it off like you're planning to."

Stefan eyed her for a moment, not sure what to say. One look at Caroline, his best friend, and he knew that he didn't have anything to lose by going with Charlie. He would miss Elena but the pain from losing his brother was too much and it overshadowed his love for the brunette. He knew that if he stuck around he would lose her anyway, as he would surely turn it off. And Caroline knew that, so she nodded in support.

"Fine," Stefan nodded.

Before Charlie could answer, Elena had shot the crossbow again. Thankfully the blonde was able to catch the stake in time before it hit her heart and she glared at Elena.

"Nuh-uh, 'Lena," Charlie gritted out, "it's impolite to interrupt people."

In a flash, she had Elena pinned against a wall by her throat.

"I would love to kill you, " Charlie said, slightly surprised neither Stefan nor Caroline tried to stop her. "But for Nik, I won't—"

A scream pierced through her throat as she felt the blood vessels in her brain popping and she turned to see Bonnie with her hands pointed at her. Gathering her strength, Charlie ripped the skin off her wrist, and in a second she shoved it on the witch's mouth, making her choke. She then grabbed her head and turned to Elena.

"I'll make you a deal, Elena, " Charlie began as Elena looked horrified. Stefan and Caroline struggling not to act, knowing that if they did something rash, Charlie would snap Bonnie's neck. "Losing their magic is worse than death for witches. You should know, didn't Bonnie's mom turn into one because of you?"

Elena let out a sob as Bonnie struggled to get out of Charlie's grasp without getting her neck snapped.

"So," said Charlie, "if Bonnie loses her magic, Stefan will stay here with you."

Elena hesitated, her eyes widening in fear, and Charlie giggled.

"Wrong! Awkward silence wasn't on the table, " she said and pretended to be about to snap her neck, making the other three gasps, and then she stopped. "I'm kidding. I wouldn't do that, " she said patting Bonnie's shoulder and shoving her to the side, making the brunette stumble into a table. "But to be honest it will give you something to think about, Bonnie."

"Why did you do that?" Elena asked desperately and Charlie shrugged.

"You chose wrong, Elena. You hesitated. There should be no doubt in your mind. After all Bonnie is supposedly your best friend, your sister, " Charlie said with a tsk. "And you hesitated between her and the hundred-year-old vampire who will surely have a ripper relapse if he stays here, has been pining after your face since forever, and whose brother you. . . . fancied?"

"You bitch, " Elena spat with venom making her friends' eyes ridden slightly at her.

Charlie approached her and yanked her vervain necklace off her neck, grabbing the doppelganger by the throat, and sending a look to her friends, daring them to step closer so she could kill her. They didn't move, so Charlie turned to Elena.

"Now, Elena. I'm not going to kill you. You were dragged into the supernatural world merely because of your face and I pity you for that. So, I'll do you a favor, " Charlie announced.

"What are you going to do, Charlie?" Stefan asked cautiously and Charlie waved him off.

"I'm not killing her," she said and then looked into Elena's fearful eyes.

"Until I tell you otherwise, you are going to forget everything you know about the supernatural. If something comes up that you don't understand, regarding the supernatural, or if something isn't making sense and your doubting your beliefs of not believing in the supernatural you will let your brain make sense of it in a way, without starting to believe in the supernatural. You will stay in Mystic Falls, go to college at Whitmore and take whatever course you want and whatnot. You will marry a human and have a mildly happy life with him in this little town. You will have kids and grandkids. Oh, you will willingly give Klaus—you know who he is, subconsciously—your blood but forget about it after you've seen him, " Charlie compelled her and then gasped. "How stupid? How could I forget? And! Get a haircut, a fringe, and change your hair color. Also, get colored contacts. Now, sleep."

With that, Elena fell to the ground, and Charlie turned to Stefan and Caroline with a small smile on her lips—ignoring as Bonnie rushed to the brunette.

"I, that was surprisingly not so evil, " Caroline muttered and Charlie rolled her eyes.

"As I said, she was dragged into this mess by her face, and though she's a bitch, she deserves some sort of happiness, " she told them. "I know you love her, Stefan, if you want, I can reverse the compulsion."

"I have to get better first," Stefan said looking at Elena on the floor. "Then I can decide. Or leave her be."

"So you're still coming with me?" Charlie frowned, tilting her head and Stefan nodded. "I guess you won't be coming?" Charlie asked looking over at Caroline and she frowned.

"I think I might, " she muttered. "Just not yet."

"Well, it's fine, " Charlie said. "If something goes wrong and Stefan goes all ripper, I'll stop by and warn you."

Caroline snorted.

"But you might want to compel little Gilbert, too, " Charlie said. "Or at least tell him and Matt and whoever about her compulsion."

Caroline nodded. "I will. Thank you for not killing my best friends."

Charlie just smiled.

"Shall we, Stef?"

He looked at her and smiled, albeit a bit forcibly.

"Are we taking my car?" he asked and Charlie grinned, trying hard to suppress any other thoughts in her mind.
