CHAPTER 7:

CATALINA'S POV:

We get back in his car and sit in silence the whole way back to his apartment. I have so many questions that I am dying to ask him, but he said another time and I respect that. I hope I never have to step foot in that filthy club again. I feel like I need a shower.

When we get back to his place, I ask to use his shower and he says that he'll order a pizza. When I get out of the bathroom, I am wearing the outfit I came over in and he is sitting on the couch. There is a knock on the door and it's the pizza guy. Jaden puts in another Van Damme movie, 'Kickboxer' and we cuddle on the couch, eating pizza.

I still can't believe how much our relationship has changed in just a few days. I went from trying to kill him to longing to kiss him. Totally weird, besides the fact that I had sworn I wouldn't date yet. Are we dating? I'm not sure, so I ask Jaden, "Jaden, are we dating?"

"Can't you tell?" he asks bewildered.

"No, I've never been on a date before," I tell him.

"Really? Why not? You're beautiful," he asks, even more bewildered.

I let out an exasperated sigh, "Well, it's not like I've never been asked. I've just always declined."

"Really?" he says again with a big smile. "Well in that case, Catalina, will you please go on a real date with me tomorrow night?"

I smile, wrap my arms around his neck and give him a peck on the lips, "Yes, I'd love too."

"Why did you always say 'no'?" he asks.

"If I answer your question, will you answer one of mine?" I ask.

"I suppose," he says.

"Well, it's because I swore I would wait until I had killed Jonathan and Daniel. But, I guess it's okay if I date you, since we will be dating and trying to kill them together at the same time. Now it's my turn to ask a question. What are your powers? How strong are you? How many vampires can you take on at the same time?" Okay, so that was more than one question, but all related questions.

He laughs, "I should have known that's what you would ask. I haven't really tested it, but I can tell you that once, a long time ago, I had to take on five vampires. They were new vampires. I'm not sure how many I can take on now though. Probably more."

I get excited and sit on his lap, straddling him, "Really? That is so cool. I wish I could take on five vampires by myself. You didn't answer my other questions."

"You said one question," he says.

"Please!" I say and start kissing his face, "Please! Please! Please!"

He smiles and I can tell it worked, "Fine, my mental powers are very strong. I am also extremely strong physically, when I want to be. I prefer to not use either, if I don't have to."

"Well, what are your mental powers?" I ask eagerly.

"Like I told you before, I can shield my powers so that others can't sense them. I can also influence the minds and actions of humans and newer vampires. I am also able to communicate with animals."

"No shit? Like Dr. Doolittle?" I blurt out.

He laughs, "Sort of. I can only influence their actions and feel what they are feeling. We don't have conversations."

"Hey, try it on me!" I tell him.

"You aren't an animal," he says.

"No, not that! Make me do something against my will," I tell him.

He gets a devilish grin on his face and says, "You asked for it."

Suddenly, I am wearing just my bra and panties. "Holy shit! You made my clothes disappear!"

He busts out laughing, "No I didn't. I don't possess that talent. You just don't remember standing up and taking them off," he gestures to where my clothes are folded neatly on the floor. I took the time to fold them?

"Why don't I remember pervert?" I ask him.

"Because when I influence someone's mind, they black out for that period of time," he informs me.

"Don't do that again," I glare at him.

He shrugs, "Hey, like I said, you asked for it. But since you're already half naked . . ." he says and kisses me. I immediately react and kiss him back.

I pull back, "Jaden, I don't think I'm ready to have sex."

He puts both of his hands on either side of my face, "Sweetie, you don't think that I've been following you around, trying to keep you safe, for the past two years just to pressure you into sex, do you?"

"No, I guess not," I tell him.

"I just want to hold you and spend time with you, the rest will come later naturally," he says.

"Oh, you're that sure of yourself are you?" I ask him.

"Yes," he says and kisses me again.

"So, what are we going to do on our date tomorrow?" I ask him between kisses.

"I am taking you out to a nice restaurant and then I am taking you out dancing," he says.

"That sounds like fun," I say. I am about to ask him which restaurant when my phone starts ringing. It's Lady Gaga's song 'Poker Face'.

"Shit! It's Noah! I have to answer, please be quiet," I run over to my bag to get my phone and answer, "Hello?"

Noah: "Cat, where the fuck are you?"

"Calm the fuck down Noah, you aren't my father. I'm hanging out with a friend."

Noah: "The one you supposedly aren't dating."

"Yeah that one, but now we're dating."

Noah: "Don't joke around with me Cat."

"I'm not playing"

Noah: "Fuck Cat, when I find out who he is, I'm going to beat his ass"

"Why would you do that? You and I aren't together. We never have been."

Noah: "That's not the way you were acting when you had your legs wrapped around me the other day"

"You are such an ass Noah. And I remember that ending in me kicking out your legs out from under you and you landing on your ass."

Noah: "Not before I dropped your ass on the floor"

"Okay, I'm about to hang up on you in two seconds, so if you have anything important to say, you better do it now"

Noah: I can hear him sigh, "Just come home safe okay"

I feel a little guilty. Noah does care for me and I do care for him back. "I'm sorry for worrying you Noah. I'll be home soon." I hang up and turn around to a pissed off Jaden.

"What?" I ask him.

"Why did you have your legs wrapped around him?' Shit! He heard that? Stupid vampire hearing.

"It was nothing Jaden, we were fully clothed and it was just a kiss. Plus you heard, it ended with physical violence," I reassure him.

He stands up and stalks towards me, "And why is your ringtone for Noah, the song 'Poker Face'?"

"Do you like that song? It's because Noah's always been on my back for one thing or another. He was always upset with me for ditching school and not studying or for going out hunting alone. So, I had to adopt a poker face for lying to him," I explain.

Jaden laughs, "Catalina, do you realize that that song is actually about faking an orgasm?"

"Oh my god! Really? I didn't know that." I start laughing with him. "I guess I'll have to change it."

"Good. And to answer your earlier question. No, I don't like that song because I can't relate to it. Women don't need to fake orgasms with me," Pervert!

I start to walk away from him, "Jaden, I really don't want to hear about you with other women."

He follows me and wraps his arms around my waist from behind, "Jealous Catalina? Are you the possessive type? Well, so am I and if Noah touches you again, I'll be the one to beat his ass, not the other way around like he seems to think."

"Maybe if you both piss me off enough, I'll kick both of your asses," I tell him.

He laughs and licks me on the neck where he bit me earlier. I shudder. Again. Damn, why does that feel good? I ask him, "Jaden why does it still feel good when you lick me there?"

"I think it is because your brain remembers the pleasure that resulted from the bite. Do you want me to do it again?" he whispers in my ear.

"Yes, but we shouldn't. I have to go home. Noah's making me look at a college tomorrow. He is under the belief that I need an education," I tell him. "I'm just going along with it so that he'll shut up about it."

"Why don't you want to go to college?" he asks.

"Because I don't need to. Killing bad vampires is my job," I say.

"What about money? How are you going to support yourself?" he asks.

"My parents were rich, they left me a huge inheritance. My aunt was single and childless, so I also inherited her estate. There is also a private organization that's sole purpose is to aid in the killing of vampires. They own the house we all live in and give up a monthly stipend. What do I need college for?" I ask.

"I guess to each his own. I'm going to miss you sweetie," he coos in my ear.

I laugh, "I don't think we're at that stage yet, Jaden."

"Baby, I've been at that stage since I met you. Fine, go. Leave me if you must. I'll be waiting outside the gates of your house to pick you up for our date tomorrow at eight o' clock," he says. He lets me go so that I can get my clothes back on.

I turn around before I go and pull him down for a kiss, "I'll miss you too."
