7. Ophi-Who?
Pisces' POV
Virgo was walking back and forth in her room with me and Taur sitting on her bed. "I mean it makes perfect sense. Why hasn't he gotten here yet?" she starts saying running both of her hands through her short hair.
"Who?" I ask.
"Ophiuchus!" she yelled at me stopping her pacing. "It just doesn't make any sense because it makes perfect sense," she says throwing herself on the bed between me and Taur. I looked confused because I didn't understand anything.
"So this is why we left the party?" Taur asked looking down at her.
Virgo nodded. "You two are the only ones who believe me," she said.
"I thought Aquarius believed you too," I say.
She shook her head, "She did. I can't let her worry about that. She's already trying to protect everyone else. She deserved the break," she says.
Which is completely true. Aqua has always been the one to try to make everyone happy even if it sttesses her out. I see exactly why she called us only.
"We'll help you figure this out," Taur says.
"How?" she says throwing a pillow to her face. "If I can't figure it out, what makes you think you guys can?"
I looked down. That was actually kind of mean. I see her throw the pillow on the floor and grabbed my arm and said, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean that." I looked at her and she looked like shevwas about to cry out of frustration.
"I know you didn't, V. It's okay. But three brains are better than one. We'll do anything to help," I say forcing a smile.
She sat up on the bed and rested her head on my shoulder while I pull her in closer. She smelled like alcohol from the party, but I know she didn't drink. "I'm just so tired right now," she says wiping makeup from her cheek. At least that's what I thought before. She wiped a tear and crawled into the bed about to go to sleep. She must've really been scared to not save us from this Ophi-whatever. But like I said, we will help her if it's the last thing we do.
The next morning, I was the last one awake. I see Virgo on her phone texting by her makeup chair and I don't know where Taur was. I yawned and Virgo looked at me.
"Morning," she says to me with a smile.
"Hey," I say moving a pillow to the other side of the bed. What's got her in a good mood? I thought to myself. Taur came in and was eating a green apple. He throws me a red one that I catch.
"Morning," he said to me.
"Hey," I said again.
"There were no more green apples so I gave you the worst one," he said gesturing to my red apple.
"Red apples aren't the worst," I say.
"Yes they are," he says back. Next thing you know, we were being defensive over apples.
"Red apples are the best," I say to him.
"Mm, no way. Red apples are too 'apple-ly' to me. Green has the big 'Walakazam' to them if you know what I mean. *crunch*" he says motioning his arms in a wizard way. No, I don't know what you mean.
"Are you stupid-" I start to say until I was cut off.
"Enough! Can you idiots let it go? It's just an apple," Virgo says. I take a bite out of my red, delicious apple and heard her speak again. "It's just green apples are better."
"Ha!" Taurus laughs at me. I squint my eyes at him and see Virgo smiling while still on her phone.
Taurus comes and sits on the bed with me. "Who are you texting?" he asked Virgo.
"Aquarius. Oh, and by the way, everyone else is awake now. Capricorn has a hangover," she says almost laughing.
"What? I wish I was there to see that," I said pouting.
"Yeah, me too," Virgo says. She outs her phone on her makeup desk. "Anyways," she clapped her hands together, "get dressed."
Taurus threw me some of my clothes... that was still at my house. "How did you get my clothes?" I ask him.
"While you were sleeping, I went and brought us some clothes," he says.
"Okay, but how did you get into my house?" I say turning my head at Taurus.
"I found your spare key under a plant by the porch," he said almost walking away. He then stopped and turned back to me. "Oh! And you need more poptarts. The strawberry ones, not the blueberry," he says.
"I had a full box yesterday!" I say with my arms up as he was walking through the door out of Virgo's room.
"And now, they're gone. You're welcome for reminding you!" he says back leaving this time. Virgo laughs and I throw myself back on the bed.
Moments later...
"Where are we going?" I ask Virgo as we were walking by the street. We walked because it's pretty close to where Virgo lives. Plus, she likes seeing the outdoors at this time of day. It's autumn and has the right amount of cool air. Just they way she likes it. The brown and orange leaves are on the ground. The three of us used to crunch the leaves when we went outside, but not this time.
"The library, of course," she tells me.
"I don't like to read," I say to her.
"Me neither," Taurus agreed.
Virgo rolled her eyes, "Did you two say you were going to help? This is helping. I need to get more information about him so that when he does come, we'll be ready," she stopped walking to look at the both of us.
It was a long pause. I sighed and hung my head down at the ground where a leaf was sitting right in front of my shoe. I stepped on it leaving it with a crunch sound for old times sake. "Okay," I said. We started to walk again. "Okay," I sighed under my breath.
A few moments later we were at the library. "Pi, you go check this side, Taur you check here, and I'll be right back," she whispered gesturing to where she wants us to look.
"What exactly are we looking for?" Taur asked forgetting to whisper. A few people turned our way and shushed him. Taur rolled his eyes at them and looked back at Virgo.
"Just things about the zodiacs. Especially Ophiuchus. Grab any book you can find," she said before leaving.
I lazily look at Taur and he looks at me and shrugs. We then walk to where she wanted us to look and started to do just that.
I was on the completely opposite side of Taur from the library. I had no idea where V went. I started to look for books, anything about Ophiuchus. There was nothing. I huffed and puffed. When I said I wanted to help I thought it meant using my power, not being stuck in a library reading with Taur and V. I kept looking for books. How to Kill a Mockingbird. Everyday. The Cat in the Hat. Ooh! The Last Song! I picked it up. This is my favorite book and movie that has ever existed. I turned to a random page and start reading it.
The book is about a rebellious girl who has awesome music talent and stays with her dad over the summer. Her dad has a piano and they share the same talent, but she didn't want anything to do with him at all which is actually pretty sad. Little did she know he was sick too. But throughout the story they start to warm up to each other and she meets this boy who is totally her soulmate! Her whole rebellious attitude starts to fade as she broke down her walls with her dad and the guy she was in love with. A lot of things happened, but to summarize it up, her dad dies because of his sickness and her soulmate tells her he's transferring to where she lived before, so they can be together forever and would never leave her alone. Ugh, romance is just beautiful.
"What you reading there?" some man asked me. He was tall compared to my 5'10 height and maybe in his mid-twenties. He also had wavy, short brown hair and a deep british accent.
"This is my favorite book," I said looking at him then back at the novel, smiling.
"Yeah, it's a pretty great book, huh?" he said.
I looked back at him, "You read this?"
He laughed, "Of course, I did. The book is literally my life. Kind of."
I run my fingers through my hair letting the my other hand grip hard on the book. "You were just like Ronni?" I asked.
He scrunched his face. "Nah. Not exactly. My ex girlfriend was more of Ronni than I was."
"So you're just like Will?" I asked actually interested in his love life.
"Pretty much," he said taking another copy of the book and scrolling through the pages.
I realized what he said. "Wait. Ex-girlfriend? What happened?" I asked him still looking at him.
His eyes didn't leave the pages but he laughed. "It's more of a sensitive subject to me."
Oh, oops. "Sorry," I said my eyes looking at the cover of the book in both my hands now.
"It's all good. Things happen and so does time," he says to me still looking through the pages.
"Did you love her?" I asked.
He looked at me now and I looked at him. "To death," he said shutting his book. He walked away with the book to check it out. Poor guy, I thought to myself.
"Hey!" Virgo asked me. I quickly turned to her forgetting how long my hair was to be in my face. "Did you find anything?" she asked me.
I pushed my hair out of my face, "No, sorry."
She looked irritated. "I'll just go look for it," she said moving pass me.
I didn't say anything. There's nothing to say. I still kept the copy of the book in one hand and started to help with the other.
"Found one!" she said.
"Can we leave?" Taurus yelled out having about 15 books towering him. How are his arms still up? The guy eats nonstop and you'd think he weighed more. Everyone heard Taurus' yell, looked at him, and shushed him. I couldn't see his face, but I'm pretty sure he was rolling his eyes at them again.
"Yeah, let's check out," Virgo said. She grabbed a couple books and handed them to me as she grabbed a couple for herself. This shit was heavy! I even kept The Last Song to check out and neither of them asked about it.
We all waddled our way to the check-out table and placed the heavy books in front of the librarian. She gave us a look and we impatiently looked at her. "I'm punishing my little brother to read these all," Virgo said placing a hand on one of the books. The librarian slowly looked down and started scanning. I guess nobody can know we're undercover. Now that is something I can do to help.
