"Are we out of bread?"
Logan raised an eyebrow at his husband as they stood in the kitchen, early in the morning, getting together their lunches for later that day. Logan put down the sandwich he had just made- with bread- and walked over to where Patton was standing. He reached up into the cupboard that had been opened and into the back, pulling out a half-full bag of bread.
"No, we have bread, you're just too short to see it in there."
"Hey..." Patton bumped Logan in the hip with his own hip and Logan smirked at him, leaning down and pressing a kiss to his forehead as if to bury in the fact deeper.
"Morning," the two suddenly heard their son come walking down the stairs, and they turned around, seeing Joe with his backpack over his shoulders, ready for school.
"Good morning," Logan said, walking back over to where he was getting his lunch ready. "Have a good day at school."
"I'll sure try. Oh, and, uh-" Joe paused. "...So, Sage and I wanted to have this picnic tonight so I'm probably just gonna be out there for dinner instead of here. Is that okay?"
"That's fine, sweetie, have a good time," Patton smiled at him.
"Sweet, thank you! I'll see you after that, love you!"
"Love you too," both his parents replied as he left through the front door. Logan and Patton put away their lunches in their own bags and they were soon out the door themselves, buckled into their car and Logan began driving.
"...You think Joe is having his picnic in the one place?" Patton suddenly asked.
"What one place, love?" Logan glanced over at him briefly as he drove.
"The field."
"The field?"
"Yeah."
"Ah... yes, you're probably right."
Logan shifted a bit uncomfortably in his seat, and so did Patton, the both of them reaching over the divider in their seats and folding their hands together. They stayed like that, silent, for the entire rest of the car ride, until they arrived at the college, where Patton followed Logan to his class. This time, though, Patton did not leave to go to his class, they had agreed the day before that Patton would stand outside Logan's classroom with him for a bit just to make sure Susan didn't come and harass the both of them- and if it did happen, then at least they'd have each other to get through it.
And today she did end up showing up. Luckily, she didn't actually say anything to them, but the simple wink that she sent towards Logan filled him with enough rage to ruin the rest of his day in an instant. When she had left, and after Patton gave his husband a quick, reassuring hug, Logan walked into his classroom alone. The bell rang as he walked in.
"Sorry I'm a bit late, class," Logan announced as he walked in, "I waited outside for a bit to try and avoid... well, I need not talk about her anymore."
"Couldn't you just report her to the administration for harassment?" One of his students offered. Logan raised his eyebrows in consideration.
"Hmm. You are right, thank you. I'll have to do that during lunch."

"So you're saying Miss Kelchen has been flirting with you every time she sees you?"
"Yes," Logan nodded his head. He was currently standing in the office of his boss, Patton next to him, their pinkie fingers intertwined.
"Have you asked her to stop?"
"Multiple times, yes. I specifically told her I was rejecting her advances because I am married, but she has flirted with Patton as well, after I informed her of the fact."
"Ah... and you are sure she is not just being a bit friendly?"
"We are sure," Patton butted in. "I have seen her sit on his desk and yesterday she tried to hold his hand."
"She has also blown me a kiss perhaps two or three times."
"And just this morning she winked at him."
Logan's boss stared at the two of them for a moment and then sighed.
"Alright... we will look into it, thank you."
The couple went back to Patton's classroom after that, still holding hands to try and calm each other down a bit. Once they were seated, both sighed.
"...I doubt they're going to bother doing anything about it," Logan mumbled, getting out his lunch.
"Probably not... if we lived in maybe California or New York then maybe they would, but a gay married couple working together at a college in Florida isn't gonna be taken seriously."
"That is true. Sometimes I do wish we could move somewhere else but if we were to do that, we should've done it before we adopted Joe. It wouldn't be fair to him to make him come with us if we moved now. Though there's a lot here I wish to leave behind."
"So do I, but yeah, you're right."
A silence came between them. They swung their intertwined hands back and forth gently between their chairs, finishing off the lunches they had packed.
"I seem to end up feeling the same feeling every lunch since I met Susan," Logan mumbled.
"Dread?"
"Yes, that. And anger. And whatever else. I don't wish to think about it... she's a monster."
Patton frowned, moving his hand to Logan's shoulder and rubbing it, the latter humming in response and leaning a bit towards him.
"You seem tired," Patton commented.
"I am. Perhaps we could nap when we get home."
"I have to make dinner, maybe after?"
"We don't have to eat dinner immediately tonight, Joe is going to be out on the picnic thing, remember?"
"Oh, yeah. And he has theatre practice so he's not gonna come home before it, I'm guessing." Patton smiled. "Okay. We'll do that. But for now you should get back to your classroom."
"Hmm... I suppose you're right."

"Halloween is coming up, you know," Logan said as he parked his and Patton's shared car in their driveway. Patton nodded as the two began to unbuckle their seatbelts and start towards their door.
"That's right, what do you think Joe is going to go as?"
"I overheard him saying to Sage that he wanted to go as a ghost."
"Huh. Awh, I just miss when he was younger and we could go walk with him to go trick or treating." The two reached their front door and walked in.
"We still could. It might just embarrass him," Logan smiled a bit. They began walking upstairs as they closed the front door behind them.
"I don't think he'd like being embarrassed," Patton smiled as well and they entered their bedroom.
"You are correct."
"So... we still on for a nap?"
Logan chuckled, and as they closed their bedroom door he pulled Patton closer to him, wrapping his arms around him in an embrace, which Patton soon returned. They connected for a kiss after a moment and both hummed into it. Logan felt his stresses from the day melt away almost in an instant, as he usually felt whenever they kissed. God, was it a good feeling. His attraction to Patton at this point almost felt like an addiction...
They pulled away after some moments and Logan let out a deep breath, Patton smiling up at him.
"I believe we are still agreeing on taking a nap now."
"Well, we're gonna have to let go of each other to maybe get comfy first."
"I suppose you're right."
They did just that, almost a bit regrettably, both changing into some form of sweatpants and a t-shirt or a hoodie. They laid down in bed next to each other and Patton rested his head on Logan's chest. Logan carded a hand through his husband's hair, the latter humming in response, hands absent-mindedly picking at the material of Logan's hoodie. Logan felt his eyes begin to droop, his tiredness getting the better of him in his relaxed state. He smiled a bit.
"Have a good rest, my darling," he mumbled, and Patton didn't respond, meaning that he was either asleep or Logan fell asleep himself before he could even hear Patton say anything.
Maybe the day wasn't as ruined as he had previously believed.
