"And you're sure you're feeling better?"
"I'm sure, honey."
Logan sighed as he buckled in his seatbelt, sitting in the driver's seat of his car with his husband in the passenger's next to him. Patton was certainly cured of his sickness at this point, but Logan didn't want him to feel obligated to come back to work that day if he still needed another day to rest. Frankly, he wished he needed another day to rest just so neither of them had to be apart for so long in the day as they usually were.
"If you say so, love."
This was how their mornings usually went, though. They'd get up, get ready, pack their lunches, and Logan would drive them both to work. And it was nice to be back in the routine, it was nice to have a schedule to follow where Logan could teach his classes, have lunch with his husband, and they'd go home together soon enough- since both of their last classes that semester ended at 1:30. But it had been very nice taking two days off and being able to cuddle and sleep in with each other.
"I'll miss you today," Logan commented as he drove. Patton smiled over at him before grabbing his hand and squeezing it.
"I'll miss you too, Lo. You'll be fine without me, won't you?"
"Yes. It's only for a few hours, as usual. And then we can have lunch together, of course."
Luckily, the college was only a half an hour drive or so, so the two got there decently fast and walked with each other to Logan's classroom, which was the closest to the entrance. Logan embraced his husband outside the door and gave him one last kiss before Patton walked off to his classroom, which was in another building.
Logan entered his classroom. Upon entering he noticed all of his ten first class students were seated, which was not unusual necessarily but at this moment it was because usually they would be talking to each other. And right then they were instead listening to someone else speak, a femininely-presenting person who was standing in front of Logan's desk. The person turned to look at Logan, looked him up and down and then smiled.
"Uhm, good morning," Logan raised an eyebrow. "Were you perhaps my substitute while I was gone?"
"I indeed was," the person smirked and began walking smoothly over to him, almost in a flirty manner, Logan taking a small step back out of confusion.
"Well, I am here now, so I'd appreciate it if you'd let me teach my class. Thank you for substituting whilst I was gone."
"Oh, no problem. Say, you're handsome... I'm Miss Kelchen, but you can call me Susan. You are?"
"...Professor Logan Croft? My name is on my desk. Now, this class is beginning in just a few minutes so I would appreciate if you'd-"
"Awwe, don't make me leave yet, we just met, cutie."
Logan blinked a few times and glanced towards his students, who all either looked relieved Logan had returned or sympathetic for the situation he had gotten himself into.
"Erm, I do not have the time to talk to you at the moment, ma'am, I am sorry. You'll have to leave."
"Fine... I'll see you around, though."
Susan trailed her fingers across Logan's shoulder as she walked past him, making Logan shudder and wipe his shoulder off, watching for a moment as she left the classroom. He sighed, shaking off his confusion before waking to his desk.
"I am very sorry I was gone last week, class, my husband came down with an illness. But judging by that interaction I'm sure you're all glad to have me back regardless."
The class all groaned and mumbled in agreement. Logan did enjoy having such small classes in all his periods- he taught astronomy, and not many students were interested in the class, but that was nice because it led him to have a better relationship with his students since they all actually enjoyed his teaching.
"She didn't actually go off the lesson plans you had," one of his students commented. Logan sighed.
"Ah. Of course she did not. I was going to have our open-notes quiz on Wednesday but clearly I'll have to push it back to Friday to make up for the days she apparently waisted. Once again, I'm sorry you all had to sit in a room with her for that long."
"Is it possible to request for a different sub?" Another student asked.
"I believe so. I don't plan on being absent very soon in the future again but if I am I'll request someone other than her... what did she say her name was, Mrs. Kelchen?"
"Miss, not Mrs.," a student corrected.
"Very well... and, I don't mean to be rude but that correction is not surprising."
The class all chuckled and nodded in agreement. Logan smiled to himself and began to write on the board behind him.

"Alright, erm... the class has five minutes left so I don't believe I can fit any more teaching in. You all have no homework, enjoy the rest of your day, I will be in here until around 1:40 and you can reach my email at any time for questions. You are dismissed."
Logan's students all began to pack their things and they began to walk to the door, leaving Logan to sit at his desk as he waited for his husband to arrive so they could have lunch together. Just then, the door began to open- but it was not Patton that walked in.
"...Oh, erm, Mrs- Miss Kelchen. Hello."
Susan beamed at him and walked over to his desk, sitting down on it right in front of him. Logan pushed his wheeled chair a bit farther back from her.
"Hello, Professor Croft... I heard you were on your lunch break and I thought you could use some company."
"Oh, no thank you, I'd much rather eat- uhm... no thank you. Could you please remove yourself from my desk?"
"Awwe, come on, Logan. You seem like a nice guy, I'd love to have a chat with you."
Logan stared at her for a moment, before taking a deep breath. "I'm sorry, I will have to decline. I am noticing your advances towards me and I'd like to let you know I am married, I am not in a polyamorous or open relationship so I am going to kindly reject your flirtations. Thank you for your interest, but I'll also have to ask you to leave my classroom."
"You're married?" Susan asked, raising her eyebrows. "Ugh- I'm not surprised. Who's the lucky lady?"
"Ah... lucky man, I suppose. You may know my husband, he works here. People usually either refer to him as Mr. Croft or Professor Patton."
Susan puckered her lips a bit in confusion. "...You're gay, too?"
"Yes, I am."
"Are you sure, though..? Have you ever tried dating a woman? I'd say it's pretty natural you'd be attracted to one... maybe me."
Logan stared up at her, a bit flabbergasted.
"...Please leave my classroom."
"Oh, but you haven't even started eating yet, I thought we were having lunch together."
"We are not. Goodbye, Susan."
She looked at him for another moment before rolling her eyes.
"Hey, honey, I'm- oh, sorry, should I wait outside for a sec?"
Logan perked up as his husband suddenly walked in. Susan turned around as well.
"Oh, goodness, no, please come in. Miss Kelchen, this is my husband that I was speaking of. The man I am married to. Could you please leave my classroom now? Him and I are going to be having lunch together, alone, only the two of us."
Patton raised an eyebrow and slowly closed the door behind him. He walked over to Logan, and Logan grabbed his hand, squeezing it very tightly.
"Mm... you two make such a cute couple. Wow, you're both pretty handsome... what was your name? Patton?"
"Oh, uhm, yes. I'm his husband. We're married."
"Damn, well if he doesn't want me, maybe you do~..."
Patton flinched a bit and squeezed Logan's hand a bit harder, eyebrows furrowing. "Uhm- no. No thank you, I'm sorry. Logan and I are happy with each other."
"Precisely. Will you please leave my classroom and stop making advances towards my husband and myself?"
Susan furrowed her eyebrows, looking between the two men for a moment before hoisting herself off the desk.
"Fine."
She began to walk towards the door, swaying her hips in a bit of an excessive manner before finally letting the door close behind her. She walked off, and Logan groaned, very quickly standing up and wrapping his arms around his husband's waist, who immediately returned the hug.
"Are you alright, Lo? What was that about?"
Logan placed a hand behind Patton's head. "That was the substitute that taught my class while we were gone... she apparently does not understand boundaries and believes I am not actually gay. And that you are not either, apparently."
"Oh, gosh... I'm sorry about that." Patton pulled back a bit and kissed Logan quickly on the lips, and Logan hummed, leaning his forehead against Patton's. He took a deep breath and both pulled away from the hug. Patton sat where Susan had been sitting before she left.
"You are the only one I allow to sit on my desk. Perhaps I should write that down somewhere."
"Well, she seemed a bit angry when she left so maybe she won't try to talk to you again."
"I do hope you are correct..." Logan paused for a moment. "Well, how was your morning, then?"
Patton smiled. "It was okay. Pretty normal." He began eating the sandwich he had brought with him.
"Good. Normal is good."
"It is."
Patton reached out for Logan's hand, and Logan took it, both of them sighing a bit as they squeezed each other's hands again.
"I missed you," Logan commented as he ate.
"I missed you too, sweetie. You still look a little bugged, is there anything I can do to help?"
"No... I'm just, erm- I'm... how do I phrase this? I'm sorry, give me a moment."
"Take your time."
Logan was silent, staring up at his husband. He blinked. "...I am not having peculiar thoughts at the moment, but knowing that at one point this would have made me want to do something is not making me feel very at ease."
"Oh... yeah, I can understand that."
Logan finished off his food rather quickly, not very willing to talk more about the situation at hand.
"At least that is not how I think anymore, it seems."
Patton squeezed his hand. "And I'll always be yours, Lo-Berry."
Logan smiled, and he stood up, placing both his hands on Patton's waist and kissing his forehead. Patton gripped his arms and kissed his cheek in return, before Logan sat back down to let Patton continue eating his lunch.
"You always will be mine... that is correct."
