"Are you worried?"

Logan glanced up at his husband from the couch, and he sighed. "Of course I'm worried. Why wouldn't I be?"

Currently, the two were alone in the house because Joe and Oliver had gotten together at the field of mixed emotions for a date. Logan was honestly hoping Joe would break the news to him about what had happened on Wednesday, but that wasn't the thing he was thinking most about.

"Well, it's three to seven days, Logan. It's been three now, but that doesn't mean we'll find out today."

Patton sat next to him, and Logan grabbed his hand for comfort. "I know that. But they're fast. You-Know-Who's scan took about five but technology is a lot more advanced now, I was half expecting to get the results back yesterday."

"We don't know they'll find your prints on it, either. You did use her finger prints on it too, right?"

"Of course."

"So they might just call it a suicide or say they couldn't find anything. Then all you gotta do, is... y'know, play the fake sympathy card."

Logan paused for a moment, looking down to his lap. He sighed. "I'm beginning to realize how messed-up all of this is..."

"How messed-up what is?"

"Our way of thinking."

"Yeah... I guess you're right."

Just then, the front door opened, and in walked Joe, a decently neutral expression on his face. Logan but his lip, and leaned over a bit to better see him as he started for the stairs.

"Joe- before you go up, how was it?"

Joe looked back to them and shrugged.

"Did... did you tell him?" Patton asked. Joe furrowed his eyebrows and made an offhanded gesture.

"No. Of course I didn't, why would I?"

"Honey, you don't have to, we just want you to consider it. Y'know it's likely he'll find out eventually."

"What kind of messed-up stuff are you referencing with your life with my father?"

"That's something we'll tell you about another day, Joe," Logan sighed out. Joe groaned, running a hand through his hair.

"You keep saying that. But when? When is this other day? Or are you guys just gonna keep stuff from me until I learn to stop asking?!"

"Joe, we-"

"You know what? I'll be honest. I miss him. He was better than both of you. And you guys won't get me to stop doing that. I want him to come back."

"Who?"

"Remy."

Logan's phone began to buzz, and the living room instantly silenced. All eyes went to his phone, and Logan's breath hitched when he saw the number.

"...It's the police station," he mumbled. Joe's eyes went soft, and after a moment he slowly approached the couch, sitting down next to his parents as his father answered the call with a gulp, putting it on speaker phone. Patton rubbed his husband's arm, anxiously.

"Hello?"

"This is the Gainesville PD's Chief of Police. Am I speaking to Logan Croft?"

"Oh. Yes, this is him."

"I'm just calling to inform you about the finger print scanning results of your mother's murder. We'd like you to know that we found your finger prints on the murder weapon, so-"

"O-Oh, goodness, I-"

"-There is no need to panic, sir, if you didn't do it then we'll get this all sorted out."

Logan was silent for a moment. He began to ponder whether it was normal for the police to just call the house of the suspect instead of actually coming to their house and arresting them. "...Oh. Alright, good."

"We're going to double check a few things and we have another suspect or two lined up already, you are our top one at the moment just because she was your mother and because of the recent death of one of your co-workers. Susan Kelchen?"

"Goodness, she's dead?" Logan actually hadn't heard anything about that one yet. But he knew it was coming.

"Yes, sir, she is. But once again, there is no need to panic. We're just gonna run a few more simple tests and we'll call you with more information when we receive it."

"Alright. Uhm, thank you, officer."

"No problem. Have a good day."

"You too."

Logan hung up the call, and he sighed loudly, covering his eyes with his hand and leaning back into the couch. Patton pursed his lips, staring at the phone, and Joe just stared at the both of them.

"...That was kind of weird," the latter mumbled.

"It was," Patton agreed. "Like- wouldn't they of come here to talk to us? And the officer seemed really calm about everything."

"That's because I'm paler than the average white man. But this still isn't a good thing, they'll likely come here eventually. They'll have to."

"But when will that be?"

"...I don't know."

The three of them sighed. Joe glanced at both of them once more, and then he stood up. His parents looked up at him.

"I'm gonna... go upstairs," Joe mumbled. "Have fun figuring out your morals, I guess." He turned to the stairs and disappeared up them. His parents sighed once more, and Logan leaned against his husband.

"God, what are we going to do about all of this?" He wondered aloud.

"I don't know, honey," Patton frowned. "I mean, there's gotta be something we can think of, right?"

"My brain is just... not working in that sense lately. I don't think I'd be able to come up with anything, and even if I did there is no way I'd be able to get the proof of it. I would've needed to actually think before I did what I've done. Perhaps I should start doing that more often."

Patton stared at him for a moment, sadly, thinking. Logan carded a hand through his hair.

"What are you thinking of?" Logan asked.

"You don't think you'll... be blamed for some of the stuff I did, do you?"

"What do you mean? From XX28? That was ages ago."

"Yeah, but they never actually got proof that who they said did it, uh... did it. They just assumed. Really, it's still a mystery that they haven't solved yet. They- they could connect it back to you somehow, couldn't they? I mean, the first one was literally your co-worker and-"

"Hey. Breathe."

Patton took a shakey breath, and he reached for Logan's hands, who quickly pulled him closer. They sat with their foreheads pressed together for a moment, Logan feeling himself get a bit anxious as well.

"...I just don't wanna lose you, Logan," Patton stuttered out. Logan gulped.

"I... do hope it doesn't come to that, my love."
