Ten months. I have been dating Kaoru for ten months. He was the light in my dark world. Key word, was. Five months prior to meeting him, I was put in an abusive foster family. He saved me. 

It was cold the day I found out. I was walking to his house, shivering in the thin jacket that was draped over my shoulder. It was windy, surely about to storm. My mind was drifting to thoughts of Darby, my adoptive sister. She had said that she was meeting her new boyfriend and I couldn't wait to find out who. Just as I reached the door, I noticed Hikaru's car missing. I opened the front door with the key that he gave me. I smiled,excited to see him.

I heard a giggle, and paused. Who else was here? I turned the corner to see Darby, clutching tightly to my boyfriend. He planted a kiss on her head and whispered in her ear. I felt my eyes water.

"Why was I not enough?" I asked, barely above a whisper. Kaoru looked up and smiled, clearly happy to see me.

"(Y/n)! I didn't know you were coming!" He said, his eyes were twinkling. He must have noticed the tear falling down my cheek because he let go of Darby and ran forward. "Baby, you have the wrong idea." I shook my head.

"I guess I'll see you later," I whispered and rushed out the door, and I ran all the way home.

Me: Hush child*

I am now on my way to school, the locket Kaoru gave me around my neck. Inside is a picture of us and the words "Forever and always, baby" on the other side.

I sigh and drop it, clutching my book to my chest. I hummed "I Dreamed A Dream," from Les Miserables. I don't notice that I'm taking the path I usually take and end up in front of the door. All too late, I realize I opened the door and now Kaoru is cautiously approaching me. 

"Baby," he says, holding out his hand for me to grab. I realize I never listened to him try to explain. I think I should deal with this like a rational adult.

I take his hand and he leads me to some random room. He turns to me.

"Darby was at my house because her new boyfriend cheated on her so soon, she was really hurt. She is kind of close to Hikaru and just assumed that I was Hikaru. She started to confess, but I told her I was Kaoru. She looked at me and realized that she didn't bother to see who's arms she jumped into. You walked in while we were laughing about it and I was just comforting her. You are my one and only baby, and I hope we can get past this." He takes a deep breath and looks at me. I jump into him, and peck him on the lips.

"I love you too, Kao." He wraps me in a hug and pulls me in for a sweet kiss.

"You are my forever and always."
