Chapter 4.
Khalil:
Yo!
Rachel:
You won't believe what's happening in my estate...
Khalil:
You have a twin sister that's my long lost girlfriend?
Rachel:
What? No! That's very absurd... You know how rain keeps falling heavily everyday...
Khalil:
Yes...
Rachel:
Well there's flood in my estate and I think we'll have to move out.
Khalil:
😂 I wouldn't move out if I was in that situation, that's free swimming pool right there.
Rachel:
I don't know how to swim so I'm definitely not using the "free swimming pool"
Khalil:
This is a chance to learn how to.
Rachel:
Khalil! I am definitely not swimming in flood water! Do you know how dangerous that is?
Khalil:
It's not dangerous as long as there are no sharks 🤷🏾♂️
Rachel:
What about snakes and alligators? They've already been spotted and some weird people are fishing from the water.
Khalil:
Wait... how did all these stuff get into the water when it's from the rain?
As I was about to reply him my mum called, more like screamed my name from the living room.
"Rachel! What the heck are you doing in there?"
I scoffed and rolled my eyes, she'd never stop her nagging would she?
I walked out of my room to where my mother sat with the tv on and her phone in hand. She's the reason why I don't even try and use the tv anymore, she's clearly not interested in what's going on on the screen but she wouldn't let anyone change the fucking news channel.
"Yes ma?"
I asked with an eyebrow raised.
"What are you doing in there?"
I mentally rolled my eyes,
"I just got back from school ma, of course I'd be inside my room."
"Who are you giving that look to?hmm?"
Oh God, this is how she tries to have a conversation with me, by picking me apart and judging every word, movement and look.
I sighed.
"Mummy I didn't plan on giving you any look, I'm genuinely just tired and hungry..."
She cut me off,
"Then go to the kitchen and fix something to eat, did you expect me to cook something for you?"
I mentally groaned, I didn't say she should do anything, I was just looking for an excuse to leave.
"Okay, can I go now?"
She eyed me warily and then hummed a yes.
I turned away from her and tried walking away before she spoke,
"And change out of your uniform before you settle with your phone."
I rolled my eyes and continued my way to my room.
Immediately I got in my room, I was on the bed trying to make a decision to either reply Khalil, sleep or remove my uniform. I settled for the sleep option because I was too lazy to remove my uniform and if I engaged in a conversation with Khalil he won't let me sleep.
I closed my eyes and fell into a dream were Khalil was a superhero who kissed people as his superpower; and might I add, he saved me a lot.
.........
The next morning, I was starving, confused and annoyed with myself that I was still in my uniform.
"Should have listened to my mum." I grumbled.
I stood up from my bed, nearly tripping on my sheets in the process. I rubbed my sore eyes and proceeded to the mirror, I stared at the brown eyed girl staring back at me, she had stray hairs sticking out of its usual place. I dropped my hands slowly from my eyes and sighed.
At this point in my life I was struggling with very low self esteem; I got used to people calling me ugly and a turn off that I started to believe it myself.
I thought to myself, why are my eyes so small? Why do I have a big nose? let's not even talk about how my lips look like I was beaten up to a pulp. The eye bags I have are enormous like I didn't catch much sleep.
I felt like I lacked everything that was beautiful, all I could see was a skinny, ugly looking girl. I teared up at that thought, it wasn't bad that I wished to be beautiful right?
I caught the tear that threatened to spill from my eyes and I said to myself,
"Now isn't the time."
I forced a smile onto my face and turned away from the mirror before I could start picking myself apart again.
"Where's my phone?"
I asked myself and silently hoped my mum didn't take it while I was asleep. She did that a lot, almost like she didn't trust me so she read my chats whenever I was sleeping.
I started to panic a little when I went to the spot my phone was last seen and I couldn't find it.
I removed all the things from my bed in hopes that I would find it somehow. I started panicking because I didn't delete my chats with Khalil, they weren't bad but Khalil was a boy and that's enough reason for my mum to never give me back my phone.
"Looking for this?"
I turned to the doorway and spotted my brat of a sister. Dora is my adopted sister, well I like to think of her as that but she really isn't. She just lives with us so she could go to school, her parents couldn't afford it, my parents could but in return she'd have to be my sister so I won't be alone.
"Dora, how many times do I have to tell you to not take my phone without my permission."
I snatched my phone from her hands and looked at my lock screen to see if there were any notifications and there were none.
"Sorry, you were asleep and I needed to do my homework."
I looked up from my screen and glared at her, then an idea came to mind.
"That's fine, but you..."
I pointed at her and then pointed at the mess I made,
"Fix this."
I completed.
She stared at me like I had two heads and eyed me.
"You and who?" She asked and I rolled my eyes.
"You are the reason for the mess."
She scoffed,
"I wasn't the one who did it though, so I don't care, take care of your own mess and don't forget we have house chores so be fast."
I groaned as she sashayed out of my room, she stopped at the door way and stuck her tongue out. I threw my pillow at her but she ran before it could hit her.
I groaned and sat on my bed, finally opening my phone to reply Khalil.
Khalil:
You know I can see you read that right?
Khalil:
And you keep reading it without replying.
Khalil:
Did I say something wrong? Why are you not replying me?
I groaned, of course Dora opened the message without replying.
Rachel:
Sorry my sister was the one reading the chats, I slept off and she took my phone. And to answer your questions, there is a dam around my area that they open, so the animals come from that dam, and moreover my estate is still developing so some part of it is still a wild animal habitat.
I locked my phone and plugged it in and finally decided to start with the things lined up for me to do before I left the house.
"It's gonna be one very long morning..."
I walked up to my timetable in my wardrobe and groaned,
"Maths double period this morning, I already don't like today."
A/n:
