CHAPTER- 56
Closing his eyes Omkara leaned back over his seat, few hours and then he will land to witness the grand marriage of his childhood best friend. Most disheartening thing was Ishana couldn't make it even after promising, her work loads has increased much and Om understands it. She apologized dearly and looked sad as she took back her promise of attending Gauri's wedding but making it sure that Omkara plays the perfect boy friend role and passes on the gift and love that she has sent for Gauri. They have grown up so much, and finally marriage of his best friend. These thoughts brought a smile with pain over Om's face. The girl with whom he shared his initial secrets of love life is finally starting her own life with her prince charming, he just can't wait to see how much happy she is. He waited and waited more to experience all of these, the thrill, the happiness and the craziness of his best friend's wedding.
Back in their home, everyone sat sad as none could take out time to attend Gauri's wedding. The distance was a factor and their works too didn't allow. On one side Rudra's new post has him all day busy and Anika's not so good boss won't allow holidays of days, as she wants holidays for her next trip to Shivay so using any holiday right at that moment seemed unnecessary to her. And as the days were passing Anika's excitement continued rising to bits and her husband dear continued getting more romantic and naughty, as she exclaims.
Anika's day's work ended with the last file she signed, thus looking around she started packing her stuffs just when her not so good boss dropped the bomb.
"Anika, we are willing to send you abroad with granting you promotion" not understanding how to react, Anika stood numb listening to her boss's announcement.
"Your performances since start have been great, and looking at your rising hard work this is a small reward we could thought to gift you" her boss is charming, she noticed recently as he smiled showing his teeths which he does less often.
"Anika react, why are you standing like a statue?" one of her colleague pushed her out from her lost zone.
The joy of this new found achievement hit her nowhere, one thing continuously knocked her brain was her increased professional responsibilities and decreased personal ones. She is already managing her office and her house although she has numbers of people to take care but as a learner to these new responsibilities she was getting pestered which she denied accepting before. What will Shivay think? Her brain ran through various emotions before she smiled to relief herself.
"Sir, where am I getting posted?" her voice sounded pale, although she tried hard to make it sound cheered.
"For now it is going to be London and after analysing your further performances they may send you to some other country or state after an year or two" her boss was very proud, that she could make through every word he spoke.
Already she is away from her husband and taking this responsibility up means more of work pressure. Their married life would come to halt, probably they would fall apart and never get the opportunity to stay together, side by side.
She got confused, completely confused in deciding or doing anything. It has to be a choice, either her personal life or her professional one and whatever she chooses would lead to her better or worst future but with Shivay, the worst future would also be the best one. Her lips curved up in a smile realising the amount of faith she has over her husband. Getting congratulated by all her colleagues she picked up her bag went to her home. At this crucial turn in her life only one name came to her mind who could help her, her father. The man who has guided both his daughters to become the best person in their life. She calmly went to her father, ignoring the questions her mother bombarded. Why she is there suddenly, is what her mother couldn't figure out and continued asking questions.
"What happened beta?" owing to the calm man he is, Anika's father asked in a composed tone.
Sitting in front of the chair her father is sitting upon, Anika placed her head over his lap. His hand soothingly continued stroking her hair as she narrated about everything, her confusion and her probable decisions. After listening to everything she said her father wiped away the tear that tickled down his eyes, he was so proud. Her mother too stood rooted by the doorstep and admired the father daughter bonding and her daughter's new achievement.
"Do what your heart says, I have seen beta that how much hardwork you did behind this job so asking you to quit this would be unjustified and no justice to you, on the other side you have promised Shivay to be with him and his family always in ups and down, so accepting this offer means breaking that promise, so please decide accordingly beta" somewhere deep these words hurt the three of them present there.
What her father spoke was true but a hesitation in taking any decision confused her further.
"Come, I am making your favourite pakauras" mother called her.
"I will prepare those" she went to kitchen after washing her hands and her face.
Munching over the snacks Anika asked her mother whether she could stay there for that day? Her mother smiled while giving the answer and felt happy that after so long her elder daughter would dine with them. How much they have missed their family time. She passed on the message of staying back at her maternal home to Pinky and rested her head over her mother's lap.
"Maa I have already decided to quit the job few days back looking at Shivay's lonely condition, then why am I getting second thoughts now? I am his wife and it is my responsibility to be with him in every situation" her mother had no answer to this.
Anika, a girl who always prioritized her job is talking about quitting is very disheartening. Getting her married to such a wealthy family can never have these harsh effect over her daughter.
"Would you be happy with Shivay after that?" looking up at her mother, Anika could feel the struggle of her mother to control her tears from falling down.
"I would be happy Maa, Shivay is a gem and I know that Shivay would never do anything that would make me regret my decisions" while saying so her heart warmed up with a sharp pain.
Quitting her job, facing back to her achievements and her dreams hurt her deep but this time she will have to choose her personal life over her dreams, because her dreams now surrounds Shivay, her husband, her beloved.
With celebration of every ritual Gauri's marriage day arrived. Only the night hours to pass and then the ultimate joy of her wedding day. It happened so dreamily, she was so very happy seeing Omkara there and personally called everyone of the Oberoi family to show her hurt on not seeing anyone else accompanying Omkara to attend her marriage. But listening to all other's excuses and problems, her anger dropped down.
The night before her marriage, seemed thrilling and exciting one. With feeling everybit of excitement and worry she went upstairs to the terrace for fresh air. Omkara was already present there and looking at Gauri approaching towards him, he welcomed her warmly.
"It is a correct decision right?" she fidgeted her fingers.
"You love him right?" Gauri nodded positively "then everything is correct in whichever decision you take" Omkara's calm smile could melt any worries.
"Let's spend the last night together, enjoying the scenic beauty and the calm breeze"
Sitting side by side, staring the soothing moon two best friends talked more. Their childhood and school days knocked the tears at the corner of their eyes. The golden days when these two friends teased each other and had fun in small banters has matured enough to talk sense and understand the other. Gauri hugged Om, as tears drenched his shirt wetting his heart, how they wished to go back in their childhood. The days spread laughter and the scolding spread love. Pacifying her Omkara parted and went back to his room, he can't cry in front of her while Gauri stayed back, still remembering the time she spent with her family and friends.
Weeks passed, Omkara returned with the good news of Gauri's peaceful marriage and how good her groom is. Everyone were happy listening to this great news, although Daadi felt bad of not attending the marriage due to her health condition and scolded her family members for stopping her from going. Omkara smilingly hugged daadi and showed her the pictures and narrated the stories and pranks. It was fun, total element of fun and trust that Om shared with his family. Seeing them happy Rudra smiled too, few more days and then he would break the breaking news.
With happiness buzzing in air and love spreading essence, Rudra and Soumya met almost regularly. He wanted to know her before his final decision, whether to marry or not. And Soumya too found it fair enough. She never wanted to force anyone but a hesitation in her heart stayed alive. Marrying because of Sahana's security seemed so not correct to her but looking at Rudra and Sahana's happiness she decided to keep mum. Her daughter was happy, very happy to get her mischief partner back.
"Soumya, where you met your husband for the first time?" Rudra asked.
"A camp" her lips quivered and eyes flattered.
There is something, something more to the story which Rudra doesn't know and Soumya isn't willing to share. Thus, looking at Soumya's unwillingness he left the matter and continued playing with the little munchkin.
Everything was fine, happiness surrounding the family and budding relation between Rudra and Soumya, but as the days of Anika's visit to Shivay neared, her heart pained. Is it the final decision, can she leave without what she has achieved? The fear of leaving the job haunted her but on the other side remained her husband whom she loves dearly, maybe more than herself. The contradiction in her heart stayed, is she doing wrong by letting go the opportunities? While these thoughts clouded her head, her phone buzzed.
"You sound tensed Anika" her protective husband sensed it with her one reply.
"Just tired"
"No, there is something which you are wanting to share but you are not getting the way" how can this man sense so much things about her?
Is he a mind reader? Or an omniscient?
"I will share Shivay, just few more days and me coming to you"
Her voice lacked that excitement, she didn't sound her usual self. Is there something crucial that she is hiding because he isn't near to take her care? This distance, again it made him feel miserable. Why is he so far from her? What has she done to deserve this distance between them? How he wished to ask her to shift along with him, but his promises of never interfering in her professional life stopped him. His mental conflicts alarmed him of something unusual which he prayed not to regret ever.
Sitting down calmly Anika re-read the letter, that would decide her future. She hesitated to walk to her boss but her heart pleaded to do what she has decided. It is going to be tough, but she got up and walked front, she entered into her boss's cabin knocking the door and calmly handed him the letter looking down. Her hand shivered, her heart teared apart and her eyes begged to shed tears. Holding back her emotions she remained glued to her spot while her boss read the letter.
"No, you are not resigning" next moment she saw the letter tearing into pieces and her boss's eyes reflecting rage.
