Chapter 25: A solar system made for two
“J-Jungkook…Jungkook…” Jimin spoke in his soft whispers. The older began to panic thinking back at how close they were to kissing just then, but Jungkook brushed it off almost instantly. Not really looking back at the moment they almost shared with their lips seconds away from touching. “Jungkook-” Suddenly, Jungkook pulled the door open and there stood Namjoon in the flesh. The older smiled at Jungkook; wearing a black coat wrapped around his tall body, matching black slacks and dark brown classic shoes. The older stood there to smile at Jungkook and within seconds, Jimin tossed himself forward onto the ground.
“N-No… no… anyone but...h-him!” Jimin huffed desperately and hissed at his own legs that didn't seem to move as well as before. Due to the exercises, his legs were weak as they got used to the feeling of being stretched repeatedly. Jimin quickly crawled around the corner and hid in the kitchen as Namjoon was distracted and kept his gaze onto Jungkook.
“Hello, Jungkook. I'm here during my break.” Namjoon stated as Jungkook took another glance outside before closing the door behind him. “Taehyung… Didn't want to come here, but I did and I'm here. Where's Jimin?”
“Oh.. He was right here. Ah, I'll go find him.” Jungkook mentioned as Namjoon dropped onto the couch to glance around Jungkook’s house. Since Taehyung wasn't going to show up, Namjoon wasn't going to ditch Jungkook's suggestion and leave him hanging all day. Taehyung wanted to avoid seeing Jimin, but Namjoon just couldn't. He had so much to say to the one he loved before and the one who was his close friend for many years before.
As Namjoon was sitting down on the couch patiently, Jungkook found Jimin's hand sticking out from the corner. “Jimin?” Jungkook asked and let out a chuckle once he crouched down to see Jimin sitting against the wall. “What are you doing here…? There's someone here to see you.” Jungkook mentioned and lowered down to glance at Jimin. “Come on, Mochi, he won't bite.”
“I… I don't want to… see him… I never told you… to bring him.” Jimin whispered and took a glimpse back to see Namjoon just sitting there. “G-Get him out… There are things… that should be left… instead..” Jimin continued to hiss in his whispers, but Jungkook just didn't want to have any of his friends fighting with Jimin and holding things against the weak man.
“I don't want you to fight with him or Taehyung any more… It makes me feel upset that it troubles you.”
“No… No it doesn't…”
“Yes it does. Please do this for me, Jimin… I don't want you to hold this in forever. Taehyung isn't here, just Namjoon. All it takes is just to talk to him, that's all.” Jungkook promised as Namjoon heard their whispers and just knew that Jimin didn't want to see him at all. This was just something Jungkook planned alone, without even telling Jimin anything about it. Knowing well that the frail man would never agree to it. “This could hurt you… It may not hurt you now, but it will hurt you later, Jimin. Do this for me if you don't have it in you to do it for yourself.” Jungkook concluded and then held his hands out to Jimin. It finally took Jimin a while to get himself to move his hands up to Jungkook’s, even if he was afraid of confronting Namjoon after so long, Jungkook was the one that motivated Jimin to move when he couldn't.
The two then walked out of the kitchen together as Jimin nervously sat far from Namjoon afterwards. “There, I'll leave you both to talk privately.” Assured the young boy before glancing at Jimin once more and leaving the two alone in the living room. Almost instantly, Jimin grew nervous and focused on the cold ground before him. Every second grew still; Jungkook left the room and went into his own as Namjoon shifted his gaze onto the weak, young, man sitting far from him.
“Hello, Jimin…” Namjoon spoke and faced forward, resting his elbow on the armrest and holding his chin forward. “Taehyung didn't want to come see you… He's still upset.”
“I-I… know that he is…” Jimin whispered and exhaled sharply. Jimin just wasn't used to meeting other people during his own recovery. Even if it was someone as close as Namjoon before. “I just… want to… put this all behind us..”
“I have no issues with that. I just came to ask you questions. That's all, Dr. Park.” Stated the man and by there, Jimin finally looked at the older astronomer. “Alright… First, what have you been telling him? What did you tell him? Did you tell him about us? Did you tell him the truth on how you took Taehyung's opportunity a year ago?”
“N-Namjoon… not too loud… please…” Jimin begged and covered his ears slightly. “I did it to protect him… S-So he wouldn't… end up like… this…” Jimin spoke as his voice began to crack. “I may… have had… a different motive before… But, I did my research… the night before… and I chose… to do it even if it… would hurt… him or even… disappoint you.”
“Disappoint… Ha, you didn't disappoint me… You hurt me. I told you not to go and you could stay here with me… But you left me to fall in love with someone else. I'm perfectly fine where I am now, but you, out of everyone… I least expected you to hurt me like that. You pushed Taehyung aside to get to this expedition. At what cost, Jimin?” Namjoon asked in a soft tone, but every little word was like asteroids pelting at the moon to add another deep crater to Jimin's soul. “I'm happily wedded. I did it back then to get over you. I… wanted you…” Admitted the man. However, Jimin only folded his arms after. “But, now I see Jungkook is the one you want. I wasn't waiting for you… My feelings for you grew cold like any other icy comet out there in that hell you were trapped in for a year.”
“You've waited… s-so long to… see me… then… hurt me too? Just… to get back… at me..?” Asked the young man as Namjoon then moved in closer to sit next to Jimin.
“No, that's too low even for me. I didn't come here for that. I just wanted that off my chest.” The older answered. Sitting right by Jimin now to drop his hand over his shoulder. “Look at you… You're suffering all because you took on an expedition that could have killed you. Jimin, what were you thinking? Set Taehyung aside and just know that this was just a suicide mission waiting to happen.”
“I did it… and I lived… I won't… do it again…”
“I know you won't… I don't want you to. Only because I know someone who would just die if you get lost in space for a year. He'll be hurt.” Namjoon mentioned and nudged Jimin to look at a picture of Jungkook just hanging on a frame against the wall. “He's good to you isn't he?”
“H-He is… He makes me… smile… But it isn't right… He has… Lee-Young… She's better than… me.”
“I've seen her before and I can say you're better than her in every way. You have time for Jungkook while she doesn't. It's sad, really. Is it bad that I think the two of you are made for each other?” Namjoon questioned and at that moment, Jimin giggled to himself softly and looked down at his own, small, hands. His cheeks turned red at the thought of it and knew there was something now. Just the way they shared a breath before a potential kiss, made Jimin's heart flutter as he pondered on it more. It only seemed that now, maybe that dream from before was somewhat obtainable.
Namjoon stayed there for a while to catch up with Jimin until his break was up. That afternoon, Namjoon left things fixed with Jimin. Talking about love and even Namjoon's lovely wife. Jimin heard all about her and even a few things about Taehyung. It made the two start off a friendly bond over what was broken from before. All that was left was Taehyung to try and talk to Jimin and mend those broken ties. All in which, Jungkook hoped for altogether.
After Namjoon left, Jimin was smiling to himself as he used his crutch to limp to the kitchen and try to make himself something to eat. He already had a great day so far and Jimin was in his best mood after talking to Namjoon and reminiscing on the past like nothing has changed before. As Jimin began to take out a small bag of sweet rice and honey cakes to eat, he suddenly heard the Bluetooth speaker switch on and this made Jimin blush at another romantic song playing from Jungkook. It was by now, Jimin's ears were adjusting to calm and upbeat music.

Jimin took a bite out of the sweet pastry before walking out of the kitchen with his crutch and finding Jungkook standing at the center of the living room where he stood over the mat Jimin used to work out on. “W-What… are you doing?” Jimin asked as Jungkook smiled and held out his hand to make Jimin stop.
“Come here. Without the crutches, Jimin.” Jungkook insisted as Jimin shook his head and walked forward once more. “Ah, can't you trust me on this? I'll catch you.”
“This… is… too far. Move in closer…” Jimin whispered and walked forward in a limp with his crutch supporting him. Jungkook then stood in front of the couch as Jimin was a few steps before him.
“Alright, try now. You can do it. You aren't ready yet, but walking step by step everyday will help.” Jungkook mentioned as Jimin smiled at the ground while listening to the low volume of the beautiful song.
“Jungkook… Tell me.. you won't push away… what we… did here before… Before Namjoon knocked… on that door..” Murmured Jimin as he then held the crutch; ready to let go of it and walk into the arms of the one he admired.
“What we did here… how could I push that away, Jimin?” Jungkook asked and by there, Jimin dropped the crutch and struggled to make his way to Jungkook. Only then, Jungkook chuckled and had his arms wide open for Jimin. He watched the boy walk quickly and within seconds, Jimin rushed into his arms, nearly falling on his way there. “A-Ah! You did it.” Jungkook laughed softly and dropped back onto the couch where he had Jimin locked in his arms.
Jimin giggled happily and hugged the younger boy tighter until his head rose up to touch noses with the younger once again. “Jungkook… you said you wouldn't… push it away… please..don't push this one away...too...” Jimin reminded Jungkook. The boy then, pressed his forehead against Jimin's, slowly raising his hands up to Jimin's face and cupping it into the palms of his hands. Feeling every soft and gentle texture of Jimin's, chubby, pale, cheeks tinting rosy red.
“No regrets…” Jungkook promised and with that, Jimin smiled once again with Jungkook until he closed his eyes in sync with Jungkook. Closer they moved in like before, sharing a breath, a heartbeat and a universe between the windows of their eyes. Displaying the true solar system made for two. With that being said, Jimin seized this moment into his clutches, dropping his hands onto Jungkook's chest as the boy's hands held Jimin's face close to his own.
“Kiss me, here.. now… Jeon Jungkook…” Jimin spoke as the boy opened his eyes slightly to look down at Jimin's soft and plump lips he's always wanted to press his lips against. Without further ado, Jungkook finally leaned his head in along with his lips, kissing Jimin for the first time. While the music played, Jungkook caressed Jimin's face into the kiss and savored every contact they had. Starting from their tight and close hug, to the lips that met at that very, sweet and soft hour.
