Chapter 22: My wish on a shooting star

Everything Jungkook liked about Jimin, flourished at that moment and he just couldn't lay there to wait. However, he knew doing this would only make things worst… But, he also thought things would change for the better. Thinking of kissing Jimin for that split second, made the boy realize he was changing deep inside. This didn't come out as a random desire, it was an awakening to Jungkook now. Those small feelings Jungkook had for the older, seemed to grow yet, he couldn't help but to feel like he was a little desperate. Alas, he couldn't hurt Jimin like this. Especially since he was at break with Lee-Young.

“The… stars… Oh I've… forgotten how… wondrous… they could be…” Jimin whispered to himself and smiled happily while looking at the stars, no longer hiding his eyes from it now. “They're… beautiful…tonight..” Jimin whispered and looked back to catch Jungkook only staring at him with a silent gaze that even showed how hard he was thinking over the situation in his head. He didn't want to hurt Jimin, kiss him and confuse him. So, Jungkook’s eyes met with the full moon as Jimin glanced away with his cheeks blushing red.

“I can't kiss him… He's not mine.” Jungkook said into his his own mind while staring at the full moon above them. “I don't think he's mine at all… I want him… I never knew how bad I wanted someone. But, out of all the other girls waiting for me, why is Jimin the one I run to?” Jungkook spoke out of confusion in his head as he kept his stare at Jimin. The older was smiling and giggling slightly into the calm stare they had going on. The back of Jungkook’s mind just begged him to kiss Jimin, but then again, it was too soon. There was no shooting star to grant him that wish and he just knew it wasn't right for him to make that move. As much as he wanted to kiss those soft, plump and pink lips, it was too soon and doing so could hurt the friendship they had now. Jungkook just couldn't take any chances and risk losing Jimin like this.

“Staring...at me...Mr. Jeon?” Jimin asked into a soft giggle and that alone brought Jungkook back into reality. “The stars… are up… there…”

“I'm well aware.” Jungkook whispered as he unexpectedly moved in and made a smile to hug Jimin in his arms.

“A-Ah..Mr… Jeon, you're so… touchy today…” Jimin whispered in the arms of his caretaker. Throughout the hug, Jimin blushed and focused on the younger’s soft breathing like always. The stars were up above them, but Jimin's eyes fixed onto the boy right by his side. It was still and silent for them while the soft and gentle music still echoed from Jungkook's living room.

“I hope you don't mind…” Jungkook whispered to the older and held him close while their eyes fixed onto the bits of white stars shining down on them. Jungkook just knew this wasn't meant to be but he held Jimin close like he wanted him from the start. “You'll be able to… sleep in your own room tonight… Right?”

“If you want… me…to..” Jimin replied and allowed the gentle hug from Jungkook to please his small feelings that only seemed to feed off more from this interaction. “I don't mind…”

“I think it will be such a big step, Jimin. If you can't pull through the night, you can always come to my room. I'll keep you safe.” Jungkook whispered and this made Jimin turn completely red and his face was hot due to how gentle Jungkook's voice was against his sensitive ear. It was the only sound Jimin allowed no matter how loud his caretaker could be. “Have you… Ever read about The Little Prince?” Jungkook asked and held Jimin against his body as their eyes then united with each other.

“The… Little… Prince?” Jimin asked the younger and waited to be answered.

“The Prince that fell in love with a rose… It's a lovely story. I have the book translated from French to Hangul if you want to read it.” Mentioned the younger as Jimin softly began to giggle.

“A prince that… fell in love… with a rose. Bring it out here and… you can… read it to me…” Jimin insisted and Jungkook was more than happy to do so. Together, they read The Little Prince underneath the full moon together and Jungkook just knew, he didn't want to ruin the moment he had with Jimin for just one kiss that could change everything. The skies were empty with no shooting star to be found and by there, Jungkook held back his wish until he knew his mind was clear to move on from Lee-Young. Kissing Jimin now would only cause the older to get confused, kissing Jimin now could ruin their close bond, and kissing Jimin now, would make the astronaut feel like he was nothing but a second choice after Jungkook went on break with Lee-Young. This could have hurt Jimin if Jungkook acted too soon.

Eventually, Jimin fell asleep after reading the book with his close friend and Jungkook was the one to take Jimin to bed. Only this time, Jimin would have to sleep in his own room alone without Jungkook this time. The only reason why Jungkook chose to move Jimin to his own room, was because he was confused on the actions he wanted to set out. He wanted to kiss Jimin at that moment and held himself back from potentially ruining their friendship. But there was no amount of words that described how much regret Jungkook held for pulling back when the music was playing, the weather was gentle, and the moon was full.

Jungkook walked to the astronomy room where he was to put Jimin to bed. The older was in his arms, ㅡheld in bridal style as alwaysㅡ fast asleep, and pressing his head against Jungkook’s black, turtleneck sweater. “Ah, you didn't even bother to stay awake to put on your pajamas…” Jungkook said to himself and gently placed Jimin down on the bed and set his crutches by the headboard too. Jungkook knew his role as a caretaker and knew he couldn't leave Jimin to sleep in jeans, outdoor slides on, along with a big sweater tented over his own body to sleep with. “Please… don't wake up and think wrong..” Hoped the younger in his head before raising the hem of Jimin's sweater over his chest to expose his pale chest, and small, curved, body.

Jungkook held Jimin's sweater in his hands and looked down to see Jimin with his eyes still shut. His bright pink nipples were fixed perfectly over his chest with an even distance, below that was his small waist and his round hips that made Jungkook stare longer. Jimin's body was perfect, his skin, and gleaming complexion. He was art, beauty, and an intergalactic view of two beautiful galaxies combined. Jungkook kept staring at Jimin's soft and pink nipples each time they rose up along with his chest; every deep breath he took in and let out after.

“I can't stop staring at him…” Jungkook thought in his head so Jimin couldn't hear a thing. “What's going on with me today…?” Jungkook spoke out softly to himself. The boy then removed Jimin's outdoor slides over his feet, fixed his hands over Jimin's blue jeans and tugged them down as soon as he unbuttoned the jeans and pulled Jimin's zipper down. Within seconds, Jungkook undressed Jimin and left him in his underwear to lay on the bed; looking so vulnerable with his body oddly calling Jungkook to place his hands over Jimin's petite frame. Jungkook held back as always and let out an exhale. Now fixing his eyes over Jimin's hips tented with the bright, sky blue, briefs that hugged the older’s skin comfortably. Outlining every muscle also the astronaut's bulge of course.

The confused boy shook his head swiftly and shoved away the thoughts he had on Jimin. Only focusing on dressing the older for the night. Not end up sleeping by his side like before. Jungkook felt ashamed he looked at Jimin and never wanted Jimin to catch him gawking at his body like this. It seemed to bother Jungkook each time he looked at Jimin's exposed body, but it oddly made him stare longer since Jimin was the only man he looked with such want. After putting Jimin a loose, silk, beige bottoms, and a matching white sweater with a drawing of a milk carton for a logo, Jungkook tucked Jimin into bed and covered him with the covers.

“Good night, Jimin…” Jungkook whispered and didn't leave until he had one more gaze and rolled Jimin's hair back. Yet, Jungkook didn't stop there. He then leaned his head in and softly pressed his lips against Jimin's forehead to give him a soft peck. The younger didn't know what he was doing, but he didn't want to stop himself either. Jungkook just didn't want to end the night off without giving Jimin a peck over his forehead. It wasn't on the lips, nor his cheek, but his forehead and in Jungkook’s book, it didn't really mean much. That was the first kiss he could give Jimin that night.

Just as Jungkook left the older alone in the room and carefully closed the door behind him to leave, Jimin opened his eyes and looked up at the Planet JM-95 above his bed before his face turned red. Knowing that Jungkook kissed him on his forehead for the night so he could rest. Meanwhile, Jungkook walked to his own room and sat down on the couch, resting his left ankle over his right knee, his left elbow planted over the armrest of the couch and his hand of the same arm over the armrest, was against his small and puckered lips. Jungkook sat there to think of how he wanted to kiss Jimin earlier, how he wanted Jimin in his mind and threw himself around in his own head for it. He didn't want to kiss Jimin at that moment and make the older feel like he was a second choice. A first kiss to start something off, just didn't seem right at the moment. Jungkook wished, but it wasn't the right time.

It wasn't until then, Jungkook's eyes glistened with tears beginning to stream down his face as he sat there, thinking of many things. Having to rethink what he felt and walking down the lane of how close him and Lee-Young used to be. It only felt that now, a part of him liked Jimin while another side of him still loved Lee-Young. “What's… w-wrong with me…?” Jungkook cried softly to himself and laid back against the cushions. “I still love her… Don't I? And then… I like Jimin…” Jungkook whispered to himself and he only rubbed his eyes to dry the tears. “Ew…” Jungkook whispered to himself to know that he was crying over such a confusing thing. He was conflicted for his love on Lee-Young and then his sudden interest on Jimin that didn't seem to go away. He was too deep in his feelings to realize that he was no longer straight.

Jungkook then rose his phone up and began to call someone to talk this out to. Talking to Jimin about these feelings just wasn't the right choice, so Jungkook decided to call Namjoon. Understanding that Namjoon was the man he always went to if he had issues. Right when he dialed the number to start the call, he heard the door knob to his own room turn until it pushed open. Making Jungkook flinch right after.

“Hello?” Namjoon answered as Jungkook locked his eyes with Jimin walking into his bedroom after he put him to bed a while ago.

“I'll call you back… Sorry…” Jungkook spoke into the phone and hung up to then look at Jimin. Jimin stood with his crutch under his right arm while tears fell down his face and his bottom lip was quivering. Turns out, Jimin didn't like sleeping in the room on his own with stars all over as decoration. He only liked looking at the stars with Jungkook because he was right by his side, but, being alone to glance up at the planets and stars in the room, frightened him. “Jimin… I'm sorry…” Jungkook apologized to Jimin before standing up, walking towards Jimin and hugging him in his arms. “You'll be okay… I promise…” Jungkook whispered to Jimin's ear. This made Jimin pout and sob silently onto Jungkook's shoulder. Believing that he'll never be cured like this.

“I-I… h-hate… I hate… this…” Jimin cried and dropped his crutch onto the ground to cling onto Jungkook; his arms were wrapped around the younger as Jungkook did the same; hugging Jimin closer to his body. At that moment, Jungkook just didn't wish to kiss Jimin just yet, he wished that a shooting star would lead him to the one he wanted when the time was right and of course, Jungkook also wished for Jimin to get better soon. Because deep down, Jungkook knew Jimin despised being this weak in front of his own caretaker, his close friend, and the one he began to grow closer to.
