Chapter Six: Pack Mentality: Part One

Ares's Pov

Stiles and I were holding hands as we met up with Scott outside of the school building.

We walked together and that's when Scott started telling us about a dream he had last night. A dream about him and Allison.

And in his dream Allison was getting attacked and Scott is concerned that he attacked and killed her.

"So you killed her?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"I don't know. I just woke up. And I was sweating like crazy, and I couldn't breathe. I've never had a dream where I woke up like that before" Scott explained.

"Really? I have. It started after Ares and I started dating. Usually ends a little differently" Stiles said.

I blushed at that and looked down at my shoes while Scott sighed.

"A, I meant I've never had a dream that felt that real, and B, never give me that much detail about you two in bed again" Scott deadpanned.

"Noted" Stiles chuckled.

I cleared my throat and decided to get back at what we were previously talking about.

"Let me take a guess here..." I trailed off.

"No, I know, you think it has something to do with me going out with Allison tomorrow, like I'm gonna lose control and rip her throat out" Scott sighed.

"No, of course not" I sighed.

Scott looked at me with raised eyebrows as Stiles sighed.

"Yeah, that's totally it" Stiles said, causing me to glare at him.

Scott sighed and looked down and I placed my hand on his shoulder.

"Hey, come on, it's gonna be fine, alright. Personally, I think you're handling this pretty freaking amazingly" I softly smiled.

"Yeah. You know, it's not like there's a lycanthropy for beginners class you can take" Stiles said.

"Yeah, not a class, but maybe a teacher" Scott replied.

I narrowed my eyes at him before realization dawned on me.

"Who, Derek?" I asked in shock.

Scott avoided eye contact with me while Stiles looked at him in disbelief before smacking his head upside down.

"You forgetting the part where we got him tossed in jail?" Stiles asked.

"Yeah, I know, but chasing her, dragging her to the back of the bus, it felt so real" Scott told us.

"How real?" I asked, confused.

"Like it actually happened" Scott replied.

We opened the doors to enter the quad but we froze at the sight of police tape surrounding the torn apart bus.

The said bus had blood spread throughout every area of it.

"I think it did" Stiles breathed out.

Scott looked at the two of us, clear panic shown in his eyes, as he ran back inside the school.

Stiles and I ran after him and saw him take his phone out, dialing a number that was, no doubt, Allison's.

"Scott, come on, she's probably fine" I tried to reassure him.

"She's not answering my texts, Ares" Scott told me.

"Scott, come on, it could just be a coincidence, alright. A seriously amazing coincidence" Stiles added.

"Just help me find her, ok" Scott begged.

I sighed in exasperation before nodding my head as Stiles did the same.

"Do you see her?" Scott asked.

"No" Stiles and I replied.

We kept on walking, trying to find a glimpse of Allison but so far nothing.

Stiles and I frowned when we saw that we lost Scott. No doubt he had run off, he was clearly panicking.

I don't know why when I'm pretty sure Allison is fine.

"Should we go after him?" Stiles asked.

"Nah, just leave him. Once he finds his girl he'll calm down" I rolled my eyes.

Stiles chuckled before pulling me over to the lockers.

I giggled as my back made contact with some of the lockers. Luckily, some of the kids had already gotten a head start and went to class.

"So, my love, my dad and I were thinking it would be a great idea if you and Em came over for dinner tomorrow" Stiles smiled.

"Really? Where did that idea come from?" I asked.

"When my dad and I returned home from the game. He said it's been a while since the four of us have had dinner and thought we should have one tomorrow and catch up" he explained.

That makes sense.

But, considering Em has been busy with her job it's almost impossible for her for some free time.

"I like the sound of that" I smiled.

"Really?" Stiles asked, his eyes beaming in delight.

"Yep. I'll talk to Em about it and hopefully her boss, from both her jobs, let her take another day off tomorrow" I told him.

"Perfect. I'll tell my dad when schools over" Stiles smiled.

"Sounds perfect to me too" I chuckled.

He hummed before placing his hand on my cheek. I smiled at him and he smiled back before we leaned in and pressed our lips together.

The bell rang, signalling that it was time for class.

We parted ways before holding hands as we made our way to our class.

In Class

Stiles, Scott and I had chemistry class together with Mr. Harris.

And it's fair to say that I hate him more than anything.

He's just an asshole and I want nothing more than to pound his face into the wall. But, sadly, I can't do that.

Mr. Harris was currently writing something down on the board while the guys and I were taking notes.

Stiles and I sat at the same table together while Scott sat at the table that was in front of us.

"Maybe it was my blood on the door" Scott told us.

"Could have been animal blood. You know, maybe you caught a rabbit or something" I told him.

"And did what?" Scott asked in confusion.

"Ate it" Stiles shrugged.

"Raw?" Scott asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"No, you stopped to bake it in a little werewolf oven" Stiles sarcastically said.

I snorted at that while Scott glared at my boyfriend, who only shrugged at him.

"Scott, he doesn't know and I don't know. Besides, you're the one who can't remember anything" I huffed.

Stiles smiled at me and nodded, leaning in to peck my cheek.

I smiled at that and returned the gesture, watching as his smile widened.

Unfortunately, our moment was ruined by none other than our stupid chemistry teacher.

"Mr. Stilinksi, if that's your idea of a hushed whisper, you might want to pull the headphones out every once in a while" Mr. Harris said.

Stiles let out a quiet scoff while my grip on my pencil tightened.

"I think you and Mr. Archer would benefit from a little distance, yes?" Mr. Harris asked, looking at both of us.

"No" I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

Everyone knows that the classes Stiles and I share together we always sit together.

If we were to be removed you will face our wrath because we hate being separated from each other.

It's always been like before and after we started dating.

"Fine. You two lovebirds don't want to move, so be it. But, Mr. McCall, you are to move" Mr. Harris said.

Scott simply let out a sigh of defeat as he nodded his head and gathered his things.

"Let me know if the separation anxiety gets to be too much" Mr. Harris said.

"Fuck off, asshole" I angrily muttered.

Scott, definitely from his werewolf hearing, let out a small snort as he sat down at the other table.

I smiled faintly at that before going back to writing my notes, wanting this damn class to be over and done with.

However, Harley shot up from her seat as her eyes were looking out the window.

"Hey, I think they found something" Harley told all of us.

Confused and curious we all shot up from our seats and walked over to the window.

My eyes widened slightly when I saw a man being wheeled into an ambulance. He had blood all over himself and claw marks on him.

"That's not a rabbit" Scott whispered to us.

Suddenly, the guy jolted and screamed bloody murder. All of us screamed and jumped back in fright.

Stiles grabbed my arm and dragged me away from the window with Scott following after us.

"Ok. This is good, this is good. He got up, he's not dead. Dead guys can't do that" Stiles told Scott.

After recovering my shock, and slight fear, I nodded to what my boyfriend said.

However, that didn't seem to help considering Scott still looked frightened.

He swallowed thickly as he turned to us, his eyes still wide open.

"Stiles, Ares, I did that" he revealed to us.

My eyes widened at that as Stiles and I glanced at each other before looking back at our best friend.

At The Cafeteria

It was finally time for lunch. Thank god, I was getting hungry.

Only thing I had today for lunch was cookies and milk and that wasn't enough to fill my stomach.

After Stiles, Scott and I got our lunch we walked over to an empty table.

The three of us needed to be alone in order to discuss everything that has happened so far.

"But dreams aren't memories" Stiles told Scott.

"Then it wasn't a dream. Something happened last night, and I can't remember what" Scott said.

We set our trays down on top of the table as we sat down.

I scooted my chair closer to Stiles's as I grabbed a french fry and ate it, sighing in content.

"What makes you so sure that Derek even has all the answers?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Because during the full moon he wasn't changed. He was in total control while I was running around in the middle of the night attacking some totally innocent guy" Scott explained.

"You don't know that" Stiles told him.

"I don't not know it. I can't go out with Allison. I have to cancel" Scott sighed.

I frowned at that and shook my head.

"No, you're not cancelling, ok. You can't just cancel your entire life. We'll figure it out" I reassured him.

Scott doesn't need to shut himself from everyone not only because he's a werewolf but because of a dream he had.

He deserves to just be a normal teenager and have fun once in a while.

All of a sudden we heard a tray being set down. The three of us looked up and our eyes widened when we saw Lydia.

"Figure what out?" she asked, taking her seat next to Scott.

Scott was looking at her in shock while Stiles was looking at her with nothing but annoyance.

I let out an awkward chuckle. I had to say something since neither of the boys were going to say anything.

"Homework. We've got a ton and we're just trying to figure out what to do to get it all done" I told her.

Lydia hummed at that and nodded, looking down at her tray.

Stiles, doing his best to ignore her presence, looked at Scott and I in confusion.

"Why is redhead sitting with us?" Stiles asked, making sure he wasn't talking loudly for her to hear.

Scott frowned and shrugged his shoulders, just as confused as he was.

Stiles looked at me for an answer, wanting to know if I invited her, but I simply shook my head at him.

I might not have any issues with Lydia but I wouldn't invite her to sit with us considering Stiles hates being near her.

Suddenly, more of the popular kids appeared and started sitting down at the table with us.

Now we were even more confused.

Why are the popular kids sitting with us? They've never done that before.

Allison walked over as well and, almost immediately, Scott removed his bag so that she could sit next to him at his other side.

"Thanks" she smiled at him, setting her tray down.

I sighed and shook my head. However, a smile appeared on my face when I saw Danny sit down at Stiles's other side.

"Hey, Dan" I smiled.

"Hey, Ares" Danny smiled back at me.

Danny is another one of my close friends. He's really nice and funny.

It still surprises me that someone like him is best friends with Jackson.

Stiles scooted closer to my side and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.

Danny and I shared a glance at that and rolled our eyes before turning away.

Jackson, much to our dismay, walked over to the table and nudged the guy that was sitting at the head of the table near Lydia.

"Get up" he demanded.

"How come you never ask Danny to get up?" the guy, I honestly don't know what his name is, asked.

"Because I don't stare at his girlfriend's coin slot" Danny sarcastically smiled at him.

I snorted at that while Lydia smiled faintly at him.

The guy let out a groan as he got up and Jackson sat down.

Scott glared at him for his rude behavior while I rolled my eyes and grabbed some of Stiles's fries, causing him to playfully glare at me.

"So I hear they're saying it's some type of animal attack. Probably a cougar" Danny said.

"I heard mountain lion" Jackson replied.

"A cougar is a mountain lion" Lydia and I said in unison.

Stiles grinned proudly at me and kissed my cheek, causing me to smile.

Meanwhile, Jackson looked at his girlfriend weirdly while raising an eyebrow at her.

Lydia then furrowed her eyebrows together as a frown appeared on her face.

"Is it?" she asked, pretending to act clueless.

"Who cares? The guy's probably some homeless tweaker who's gonna die anyway" Jackson replied.

I glared at him for that and bit my tongue to stop myself from yelling at him.

Stiles, who was on his phone for whatever reason, leaned forward in anticipation.

"Actually, I just found out who it is. Check it out" Stiles said.

I leaned forward, placing my hand on his arm while resting my chin on his shoulder.

Everyone leaned forward, wanting to see the video to know who the guy was.

"The Sheriff's department won't speculate on details of the incident but confirmed the victim, Garrison Meyers, did survive the attack. Meyers was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition" the reporter explained.

I honestly don't know who that is.

"I know this guy" Scott breathed out.

Stiles and I looked at him as Allison raised an eyebrow at him.

"You do?" Allison asked in curiosity.

"Yeah, when I used to take the bus back when I lived with my dad. He was the driver" Scott told her.

He then made eye contact with Stiles and I and we simply stared at him.

I sighed and wrapped my arm around Stiles's waist, causing him to wrap his arm around my shoulders.

"Can we talk about something slightly more fun, please?" Lydia asked, more like demanded.

Stiles resisted the urge to glare at her and simply opened up his water bottle.

"Like, oh, where are we going tomorrow night?" Lydia asked, turning to look at Allison.

Allison looked up from her tray and raised an eyebrow at her in confusion.

"You said you and Scott were hanging out tomorrow night, right?" Lydia asked.

My eyes widened at that and so did Stiles's.

A look of realization washed through Allison's face as she cleared her throat.

"Um, we were thinking of what we were gonna do" Allison told her.

"Well, I am not sitting home again watching lacrosse videos, so if the four of us are hanging out, we are doing something fun" Lydia said.

Jackson looked at her in disbelief and so did Scott.

Allison was drinking water from her bottle while her eyes showed nothing but embarrassment and slight annoyance.

"Hanging out? Like, the four of us?" Scott asked, wanting to know if he heard her correctly.

Stiles was shaking his head while covering his mouth while I tried my best not to laugh.

Scott turned to look at Allison who just looked at him with a sheepish look.

"Do you wanna hang out, like us and them?" Scott asked.

Allison frowned before a small shy smile appeared on her face as she nodded her head.

"Yeah, I guess. Sounds fun" Allison shrugged, her smile looking a little strained.

I don't blame her.

Considering they were going to go on a date and now that's ruined because Lydia decided to make it into a group thing.

"You know what else sounds fun?" Jackson asked.

He grabbed a fork from his tray and held it up.

"Stabbing myself in the face with this fork" he sarcastically smiled.

Lydia glared at him and snatched the fork out of his hand, causing him to glare at her.

I rolled my eyes at him. Stiles did the same thing as he closed his water bottle.

Scott was looking at us, a pleading look plastered on his face, but I laughed while Stiles shrugged and shoved a fry into his mouth.

"How about bowling? You love to bowl" Lydia smiled, placing her hand on his knee.

"Yeah. With actual competition" Jackson replied, shoving her hand off his knee.

Lydia glared at him while Allison let out a scoff and leaned forward to look at him.

"How do you know we're not actual competition?" Allison asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

She looked at Scott, gently nudging his arm.

"You can bowl, right?" she asked.

I snorted, causing Scott to glare at me while I looked down at my tray.

Stiles chuckled at my reaction, placing a few of his fries onto my tray.

I smiled at that since he knows how much I love french fries. He loves sharing his food with me whether I ask or not.

"Sort of" Scott shyly said.

Jackson scoffed and leaned forward, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Is it sort of? Or a yes?" Jackson asked, or, demanded.

Oh great. Here we go again.

Scott glared at him before leaning forward, placing his hands on top of the table.

"Yes. In fact, I'm a great bowler" Scott confidently told him.

I buried my head in Stiles's shoulder and groaned. Stiles sighed in annoyance and facepalmed.

This is going to end badly for Scott. I already know it.
