8: The Truth ( Which always Out There)

"I'm sorry, Dave," Jane whispered, her gaze fixed on the ground. David looked at her, his mind filled with confusion. There were still so many things he didn't know, but asking her was not an easy task. He let her cry, allowing her heart to release its pain.

"I can't believe you left me without a word. I was your friend, and you should have at least written," she sobbed once more. It pained her to say it, for the truth would hurt him deeply.

"I'm sorry, Dave. I should have written, but it was so difficult. But, never mind. At least I know you're happy with Helen," she managed to say, a sudden smile forming on her face. David let out a sigh. If only she knew the truth.

"There's something I need to tell you. I should have said it that night, but..."

The elevator suddenly shook violently, startling them both.

"Something's burning!" Jane exclaimed, a hint of panic in her voice. Smoke began to fill the elevator, suffocating the air. David pressed the emergency button, but there was no response despite the ringing of the bell.

"Help! Help!" Jane screamed, her panic escalating. The smoke invaded their lungs, causing David to cough uncontrollably.

"Dave!" Jane clung to him tightly. The elevator shook once again. David pushed Jane into a corner, then kissed her with deep intensity. She was taken aback.

"I love you. I have always loved you," he confessed.

"Dave..." Jane sobbed. They shared another passionate kiss, knowing deep down that this might be their last.

"It's just a comforting feeling to know that..."

The elevator continued to shake, as if on the verge of collapse.

"Jane... tell me you love me..."

"What?"

"Just say it! Please!" he pleaded, holding her chin gently. Tears welled up in Jane's eyes. She knew their lives were coming to an end. She kissed David deeply, pouring all her love into that moment.

"I love you, David..." he smiled. The elevator cracked, and suddenly, it felt like they were plummeting down at a terrifying speed.

"I'm afraid!"

"It's okay. As long as you love me, I'll die with a sense of peace..."

"I love you, David. I always have..."

"I love you too, sweetheart..."

They kissed.

And then, the elevator snapped!

An ambulance and firefighters rushed to the scene in front of the hotel. Chaos ensued as people hurried in and out of the building. Everything seemed to be in disarray.

While the other elevator was being repaired, the second one broke down. It had been overworked that day, with the influx of visitors, and it was the only elevator in the hotel.

After nearly two hours of being trapped, both victims were finally rescued from the elevator. Sadly, they were found unconscious, their hands intertwined, showing no signs of response. Jane Klien and David Roland, who was supposed to attend their high school reunion on the 10th floor, had caused worry among their friends when they failed to show up after a long wait.

The hotel management initiated a search for both of them and a witness provided crucial information, describing a girl who matched Jane's appearance.

"Who could forget that girl in the stunning emerald green dress, accentuating her captivating figure?" the witness said.

Mr. Steve Kawakai, the hotel's General Manager, held a press conference to express his apologies to the families of the victims and all the visitors for the inconvenience caused.

Both victims were rushed to the hospital, but due to severe injuries, Mr. Roland had to be transferred to Rashmore General Hospital for further treatment.

This is Fiona Taley, for the night news...
