The Happy Ending

Info
Song: -
Note: Just a short that I felt like writing about their wedding day. They deserve a happy ending after all :)

Story
"-your lawfully wedded husband?" Phoenix bit his lip in between the words, finding himself gazing at the man in front of him: Miles. Miles, his best friend, adorned with swathes of white - a sea of silly, handsome frills that he'd insisted upon - with every feature having been poured over upon for a series of months until the attire carried the same immaculate tendencies as its owner; An owner smiling at Phoenix with such unguarded sincerity that the latter felt his heart swell further than humanly possible. He, himself, had opted for a simpler suit - still white, of course - but had somehow ended up with a boisterous Butz imposing a bridal veil upon him at some point during their festivities. None of that mattered now though, of course. Phoenix found himself not needing a magatama, bracelet or omniscient necklace to know that the crowd were as transfixed as he was in that moment: there was no way Larry wasn't teary-eyed after having third-wheeled this relationship for 7 laborious years.

"Phoenix?" Silver eyes gently probed the blue ones gaping unabashedly back, the presence of yellowish light filtering through glossy panes from the immaculate scene outside adding an ethereal glow to those irises, Phoenix noted. He'd made the mistake of thinking they were grey for many years until he'd actually seen them; the very thought of those shimmering, endless globes being referred to as 'grey' seemed criminal in that moment - they were silver. They always had been. Even if they'd assumed a dull sheen back then, Phoenix was adamant that they'd be polished over time: and they were.
"I do," The defence attorney softly murmured, almost inaudible amongst his welling tears promising to spill over. He desperately wanted to babble on to Miles about how perfect it all was, how his choice of canapé was delectable, how his silvery locks swayed with such elegance whenever he moved, even returning to such clichés in their relationship as that first classroom trial where he'd been defended so compellingly that he changed his entire life for the better - but there was a time and place for such vocal emotional display, and the marital vows were neither. They said it all in their own way anyway, he supposed. So Phoenix blinked and smiled and looked up to meet the vitality of his glowing lover in that moment, the sun-rays baptising him in all the right places, whilst paying slight heed to focusing on stopping his knees from buckling.

"I do," Miles hummed smoothly, revelling in the way the two words widened his partner's round blue eyes. He felt so light and so fond, as though thoroughly intoxicated despite having drunk little alcohol thus far - a wise move, considering that Maya and Larry would be present for the after party's plentiful supply of booze. Phoenix in that moment - no, always - looked exactly as a phoenix should be: adorned with smouldering cheeks, a goofy grin and a ridiculous, jaunty bride's veil chucked on last minute that stuck out as more birdlike than even those unchanging spikes he so adored.
"I now pronounce you husband and husband."

"I just wanna say," Larry Butz abruptly rose from his seat at exactly the wrong moment - as the pair shared their first kiss as a married couple -, much to the mortification of the other guests gaping at him:
"Congrats you guys, I love you lots and I wanna make it known that I totally called it first that you were gay for each other and you wanted to bone,"

He took a breath as if to continue as Mr and Mr Edgeworth-Wright regarded him with nervous smiles and beads of sweat.
