The World Turned Upside Down

It had been a month. Or two. Or three. You weren't sure. You had been in New York for a while, anyway. You had worked a few jobs, but photography didn't pay much. You were running out of money, and the only texts you had responded to since Hamilton were Pippa's. Your friends were probably worried, and they had come to the hotel a few times, but each time you just pretended you weren't home. You weren't really in the mood to fake fan girl with them. You wished bitterly that you had never gone to photograph Hamilton. Your life hadn't been going too great before, but it had only gotten worse. You had no family, no home, and at this point probably no friends. You had been traveling since you graduated, so you didn't really see the point of getting a house, and now you didn't even have enough money. You slammed your foot against the wall near the bed in frustration.

One notification

Your phone pinged. You looked down, you had muted most of your friends.

Pippa: Hey, you doing okay?

Were you? Sure. Why not.

You: Yeah.

Pippa: Are you sure?

You: Sure.

Pippa is typing...

Pippa: Wanna come get coffee with me and Kacey?

Oh, right. Pippa had gone out with Kacey a few times. Kacey had spammed you with a few million texts, but you hadn't responded. You didn't want to be rude to Pippa and say no, because she was Pippa, but you really didn't want to answer any of your friends questions about why you hadn't been answering their texts. Then again, out of all your friends, Kacey was probably the least likely to ask too many things.

You: I'd love to.

Pippa: Great!

You: But...

Pippa: ?

You: I haven't really been answering Kaceys texts. Or... any of my texts. Except for yours. I've been ignoring all my friends.

As you said this, your phone pinged with a text from Tatum. "HE KISSED ME! FINALLY!" It read, you sighed, not even wanting to reply.

Pippa: Oh. Is it because of the thing?

You: Yeah. I think, anyway. But I'll come. I need to get out of the house. Or hotel. Or whatever.

Pippa: :) We'll pick you up in ten.

You sighed. It was already two in the afternoon and you were still wearing pajamas. You looked like a mess. A pair of wrinkled jeans lay on the floor near your bed so you pulled them on, along with a plain purple t-shirt. You put your hair up in a messy bun to hide the fact that it wasn't washed, and applied a layer of mascara. You headed outside to wait for your ride.

A few minutes later a taxi pulled up in front of you. You saw Pippa waved at you from the back seat. You smiled at her and headed toward the bright yellow vehicle. Kacey stared at you as you swung the door open and slid into the car.

"(Y/nickname), we literally thought you were dead or something." She said, looking a bit concerned.

"Yeah... my- uh- phone broke. Sorry about that. I- uh just got it fixed today." You responded pathetically. Pippa pursed her lips at the lie but didn't say anything.

"Oh." Said Kacey. "Okay." You could tell she didn't quite believe you, but she let it go.

"55 Clairmont Avenue, please." Pippa told the driver. He nodded, and joined the usual New York City traffic that filled the streets. Your mood lifted a little. God, you were acting a little like a spoiled brat. People would kill to be going out to coffee with Phillipa Soo, and here you were sitting next to her. Maybe you should get another job. Get your life together, and get an apartment or something. Maybe it would be okay to just be friends with Lin. I mean it would probably be better than sleeping all day, and slowly becoming broke, right?

The taxi let us off at Pippa's favorite café, The Cracked Mug. I personally thought The Mudhouse was better, but this was good too.

You smirked as the three of you sit down at a table near the window, noticing that Pippa and Kacey were holding hands. You had been totally sure that Pippa was straight until you met her, but hey, apparently not.

"So, how's photography going?" Pippa asked carefully.

"I haven't done many jobs lately," you responded without hesitation, "so I think I should get another part time job." You decided.

"Ohhh get it here!" Kacey squealed. "Then we can, like get free stuff!" What the hell. Since when does Kacey squeal. Jeez, Pippa must have rubbed off on her. You grinned in return.

"Maybe I will." That was actually not a bad idea. "Or maybe, I'll get a job at the Mudhouse instead, just to annoy you." Pippa kicked you under the table. "Owwwww!" You complained. Suddenly, Pippa grabbed you by the arm.

"Let's get drinks. What do you want?" She said.

"Hot chocolate, and a muffin." Kacey responded, blushing. She seemed to do that everyrtime Pippa spoke. You were a bit confused at why Pippa had taken you to get the drinks, but understood as she began to speak again.

"So um," she whispered nervously, "I kinda wanna ask Kacey to be my girlfriend?? But I'm scared. What if she says no?!" You let out an ungodly noise, and Pippa inconspicuously clasped her hand over your face.

"Pippa, that the best idea you've ever had! How could anyone say no to being your girlfriend?! Also Kacey is kinda head over heals for you, in case you haven't noticed her nearly fainting every time you speak." You whispered back furiously, turning away from her to order one plain coffee, and two mocha lattes for Pippa and yourself. Pippa bit her lip, but smiled widely.

"Thank you." She said. The two of you received your coffees and headed back to the table were Kacey was waiting. You took a sip of your latte as you slid into you seat, trying to not give anything away by the grin on your face. (A/N this chapter went from kinda angsty to fluffy real fast and I didn't see that coming while writing it.) "Hey Kacey?" Pippa said shyly. Kacey turned to her blushing, again. "Doyouwannabemygirlfriend." She mumbled.

"What?" Kacey said, looking utterly confused.

"Pippa, talk slower." You said with a chuckle.

"Sorry," she said, taking a deep breath, "I like you. Do you wanna be girlfriend." Kaceys eyes widened to the size of dinner plates, and she nodded furiously, at a loss for words. You were happy for them. Maybe everything would be okay after all.

A/N: Lol thanks for reading you guys ily. Also in coming chapters, apparently Andrew Chappelle is bi not very gay, bc @Hamiltots wants him to make out with her (Tate).
