Chapter 8: Boba date?!

(Just wanted to say, happy birthday Hikari! I hope you like her character seeing as she is just an oc)

(Tsuki's pov)

This wasn't supposed to happen.

It was just a simple afternoon. School had ended and I was sitting on a branch of one of the Sakura trees on the field.

The Sakura trees are my normal hangout spot. I come here during breaks so no one knows where I am and I'm not in public spaces so anyone could bully me.

Then after school, I come back here and hang around for half an hour or so and wait for everyone to have left so I can go home without interruptions.

But this day was different.

I flipped the page in my book. Reading is the only I do to entertain myself. Other than that, I have nothing to do.

It was peaceful. The soft, gentle breeze would occasionally blow the blossoms on the trees away so it looks like it's raining blossoms.

That's also why I like nature, it's tranquil and no one can disturb you.

Well, except for him.

My head snapped up to the sound of footsteps. Someone was coming.

Usually, if anyone was coming here, it's the delinquents who come here to hang out sometimes and take drugs and alcohol.

I just climb high in the tree and wait them out before going otherwise I would be going home with bruises all over my body.

But these footsteps were different, it sounded like one person, not a group of people.

As the footsteps drew closer, I crouched down, ready to leap up to a higher branch and hide.

However, I realised exactly who was below me.

"Either you are wandering in the field or you are following me," I spoke, looking down at Shinguji, "Though I can't determine which possibility is true,"

"Neither, I was simply looking for you," he replied, looking up at me

"How interesting, Korekiyo Shinguji, the most popular boy in school is looking for me," I said, leaning against the tree, "Alright, lets cut to the chase, what do you want?"

"Nothing, just want to be friends with you," I assume he was smiling at me before grabbing onto the first branch of the tree and easily lifted himself up.

Oh, so we're gonna go that way, huh?

"Why should I let you do that?" I questioned, watching him climb up the tree to get to the branch I'm on

"Come on, don't you think you should start befriending people?" he queried

"Why are you try to befriend me of all people?" I was feeling quite tempted to stamp on his hands by now

"Because you're interesting," he casually replied

"I bet you've said that to hundreds of other girls," I shook my head, unamused

"No, I mean it this time," he smiled as he listed himself onto the branch I was standing on and leaned close.

Geez, too close. Does this guy know what personal space is?

"I am not going to be swooned by someone like you," I hissed and pushed him off the branch. I didn't care if he hurt himself if he didn't manage to help himself.

However, unfortunately for me he grabbed onto the branch and swung himself back up. Only he was much closer than before and my back was pressed against the tree.

Great, I forgot he was also the sports captain of the gymnastics team.

Hissing again, I hit him with the book I was holding before jumping up and grabbing hold onto the branch above me.

"Next time you play that sort of stunt on me, I'll make sure you will break a leg," I threatened, swinging myself up

Shinguji recovered quickly and smiled up at me,

"Come now, I just want to be friends,

"Well I don't want to be friends. I'm not going to be won over by you,"

"Then I'll try even harder to convince you to be my friend,"

I huffed in slight frustration, he sure isn't giving up. How annoying.

"Fine, lets make one thing clear, I don't trust you. Not one bit," I looked down hauntingly at him, "So, until you can prove that I can trust you, we won't be friends,"

"Alright then," he said, lifting himself onto the branch. How did I not notice how close he climbed up? "Allow me to convince you then,"

I gritted my teeth and pushed him away before jumping up to a higher branch again. By now, all the branches were much weaker than the ones lower down.

"Your charms and flirtatious attitude will not win me over," I told him with a firm look, "Now, I would appreciate it if you would leave me alone,"

If there's one thing I can teach you all, its that charming everyone will not work forever.

"I'm not going to give up that easily," Shinguji smirked, "I'm not going to leave until you accept my request,"

"Nē, anata wa shitsukoi," I sighed, about to jump off when the branch suddenly broke under my feet, causing me to fall, "Woah!"

(Jeez, you're persistent)

For a moment, I actually thought that was it for me. But then I mentally slapped myself for thinking such a stupid thing. But one thing I knew for sure, this was going to hurt. A lot.

All of a sudden, something grabbed my right arm and the next thing I knew, I was dangling in the air, Shinguji was above me, his left arm was holding tightly onto my arm and his right arm was gripping the branch he was standing on only a few seconds ago.

Maybe I underestimated him.

"Gotcha," Shinguji smiled down at me. I didn't say anything, I just looked up at him with slight shock.

Eventually, Shinguji managed to get us both down on the ground safely. Though, that was unnecessary seeing as I was perfectly capable of climbing down a tree myself. I guess he was rubbing it in that he saved me from a visit to the hospital.

"Thank you," I thanked him, picking out a few petals that were tangled in my hair

"No problem," he smiled at me, "So, are we friends now? Do you trust me?"

"Seriously? You ask me that right now?" I sighed before turning around and walking away

"Wait! Can't you at least hang out with me today?" Shinguji called out after me

"No. Leave me alone now," I said

"I'll buy you anything if you want,"

I stopped. My stomach rumbled slightly. The only thing I had eaten today was a breakfast bar. I didn't have any lunch seeing as I used up my money buying that bar. I really wanted something to eat since I know my parents won't give me much food for dinner.

"Anything?"

(Korekiyo's pov)

Next thing I'm doing is sitting in a bubble tea shop with a girl sitting opposite me, staring me down.

When Tsuki asked if I would buy her anything she wanted, I didn't expect her to make me take her to a bubble tea shop and buy her a bubble tea drink as well as a packet of gummy sweets. I suppose I didn't expect her to be fond of sweet foods.

She seemed content enough, sipping her drink but I could see her eyes were staring me down. I guess she still doesn't trust me.

Seeing as the shop was quite close to our school, there were plenty of students there and most, if not all, of them were staring at us but for different reasons.

Tsuki chewed on a few tapioca balls before swallowing and sighed.

"So, why are you so desperate to be friends with me?"

That's true, why am I so desperate to be friends with her?

Is it because I pity how she's so unpopular?

Is it because she's the only person I actually find interesting?

Or is it something else?

"Suppose I just want to get to know you better,"

Tsuki tilted her head slightly to one side but her expression didn't change,

"Oh? It seems as if today is going to be a unique day after all,"

"Didn't you think today was going to be unique when I came up to you?" I smirked at her

"You're such a flirt. One day its going to backfire in your face," Tsuki sighed before straightening her headband.

"But until then, I'll just keep being a flirt," I replied

"E e, anata wa fukanōdesu," she sighed again

(Jeez, you're impossible)

"Why do you speak Japanese so much?" I questioned her,

For some reason, Tsuki swallowed and tightened the choker around her neck,

"Because my family wants both my brother and I to learn our origin language as well as one of the most common languages in the world," she replied

"So you have a sibling too?"

"Yes. Do you have a brother or a sister?"

"I have an older sister. But she gets on my nerves so much. I can't even be in the same room as her. When we graduate, I can't wait to move out,"

"I see. I have an older brother. He is the only person I trust. I don't get to see him much because he likes to lock himself in his room,"

"Don't take offence or anything but why are you so emotionless?" I questioned

Tsuki tightened her choker again, as if it would help her talk,

"Because I can't feel emotions. I don't know if its like a disorder or something because my family never took me to get checked on. I did try and feel emotions when I was younger but I realised there's no cure," she explained

"Right. So you just can't show or feel emotions?"

"Well, I can pretend I'm feeling something but I don't want to. It's a waste of my time and it's not like anyone would care anyways,"

"I'm sure your family cares about you,"

"Thats where you're wrong," she sighed, "My family are too busy to notice me and my brother is caught up with his work,"

I'm sure this will sound insulting but honestly, she sounds like a life-con.

"If you don't mind me asking, what is your family like?" I queried

She paused for a second before tightening her choker once more. At this rate, she is going to strangle herself to death.

"Well, both of my parents are, if you say, workaholics. They constantly work for money, though they already have enough to keep us stable. They want both my brother and I to get the best grades, good behaviour and basically be a perfect child. That is a simple description of my brother,"

By now, she had tightened her choker so tightly that her neck had gone completely white as well as a red line next to where her choker was gripping her skin tightly.

"Oh. Well, I'm sorry," I somewhat awkwardly said

Tsuki sighed and opened her mouth to speak when someone shoved her off her chair,

"Oops," Giggled a girl who I've never seen before but came from our school. She gave Tsuki a swift kick into her ribs before sitting down on the seat she was once sitting on.

As I saw Tsuki getting back up, her teeth were clenched and I could just hear her mumble something,

"Gesu yarō,"

(Asshole)

"Sorry about that sweetie!" the girl giggled at Tsuki in this sarcastic, poisonous tone, "You were just in the way from me introducing myself to Korekiyo!"

Tsuki gritted her teeth and her hands were clenched into fists. But she knew she couldn't do anything to her.

"So what gives you the right to instantly call me by my first name?" I asked her, raising an eyebrow

"Because you should be talking to me, not to some emotionless bitch like her," she pointed down at Tsuki, "Say, you and I should get together some time, handsome,"

"Well I'm sorry but you just interrupted my time with a find of mine. How about you get lost and go find some other boy to flirt with because I'm not interested," I replied.

Both Tsuki and the girl looked at me with disbelief, so did everyone else who was watching.

I nonchalantly got up from my seat and helped Tsuki up before turning over to the girl who was standing there

"Are you deaf? Do you need to run back to your mother to get your ears checked?"

Then she scrambled away, back to her table of friends.

"Are you alright?" I asked Tsuki who looked surprised about the fact I stood up for her,

"Yeah," she lifted her arms up to straighten her out-of-place headband but winced and clutched her ribs where she was kicked

"Take it easy, it may hurt for a day or two," I told her, straightening her headband for her

"Thank you for standing up for me. That's... the nicest thing anyone has done for me," she thanked me. Even though her eyes were still dull and her face still didn't show any emotion, it was still an improvement from the first time I saw her. After that, I promised myself that I would be the one to make her feel emotions.

"Anyways, thank you again for taking me here. It's nice to be somewhere else that isn't school or my house," Tsuki slipped her packet of sweets into her pocket and threw away her empty cup.

Why is she saying it like she's never been out before?

I watched as Tsuki walked to the exit door. But before she walked out, she looked back at me,

"Lets do this again tomorrow, alright?"

I swear, for a second, I saw her eyes brighten into a sparkling brown. But then she turned around and walked out of the shop.

Wait, did I just befriend the unfriendable?
