I won't beat around the bush, I think society has taken pronouns too far

Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome that people are able to use what label feels comfortable to them without being absolutely demonetized for it. But now you can't even make mistakes without people attacking you. You accidentally call a trans man (who you had no idea was trans) a she ONE time and you may never see the light of day again

Obviously that's an exaggeration. But you get my point. Unless someone is openly telling us they use different pronouns than the ones associated with their assigned gender, we're gonna be completely clueless that you use different pronouns

And to the people saying "Well why don't you just ask?" Here's my question, if it's such an important issue, why don't you tell us beforehand? Wouldn't it make sense for you to inform your peers about such an important thing before talking to them? I honestly don't feel like it's our responsibility to go around to every new person we meet and say "Hello person I just met five minutes ago, tell me your pronouns" not only is it awkward af, but again, if it's so important to you, it's your responsibility to let us know

I also think it's gone too far as far as being so obsessed with remaining neutral and not offending anyone that we forgot the actual purpose. What I mean by that is we have one too many people continuing to call us a they/them even tho our bio clearly states we're a he/him. Their reasoning? "I just don't like to assume, your bio could need updating." Please stop. If you can remember the fifty different xenopronoun sets your friend uses, you can remember that we're a he/him, one of the most basic fucking pronouns sets

As for xenopronouns, we kind of have mixed opinions on them. On one hand, I for the life of me can't understand why in the hell you'd want to be called a zir. With that being said, even tho we don't and will never understand it, we will still respect you as a person

However, that still doesn't change the fact that some of these pronoun sets are used to mock actual trans people. Some of these are straight up stupid. This is why so many queer people are leaving the LGBTQ community and why so many people have such a negative view on it
