Two¶Desk Exchange 😢
"Morning, people!!" Gracie screamed to the class.
Some replied and others ignored her.
"Guys! The Star boys and Star girls are here. They have resumed!!" she shrieked.
"You are lying!" some girls yelled at her.
"Do I look like I'm lying?" she replied.
The girls in the class except me, screamed out. The Star boys are the one who made school lively. They were the real rebels. I kind of like the way they roll.
"Oh my gosh! My crush is here! I can't breathe. Help me, Naomi" Ijeoma whispered.
I rolled my eyes at her as she hyperventilated. Is this girl for real?
I present to you, GSC (Golden Sun College) star boys. The true handsome boys of our school. My class is blessed. We've got true beauties.
In the Star boys, we have the leader, the number one contestant, the most handsome, coolest and freshest guy.
TADA!! Drum rolls please!
I'm serious, I need those drums rolling.
Ok! Let's welcome Nonso aka Richie. Please I need you clapping as he walks into the stage. Seriously, he is actually walking into the class right now.
I will tell you a little about him. He is good-looking with such a light-brown skin. He is tall, slim with average muscle, and neat. I mean like seriously, he is neat. In fact too neat. His uniform is always washed and ironed. At first, we all said that since he is so rich, it was all his maids doings but if you see his school notes. NEAT! No wrinkles at the edges. His desk spotless!! His handwriting is also legible. He has the finest handwriting amongst boys.
Nonso aka my ex-boyfriend in my imagination, my ex-crush in real life, Ijeoma's present crush, Regina's boyfriend and GSC's best playboy. He can date five girls at a time and they won't know. He dates girls from different schools. You will get to know Regina later.
Now drum roll pls as we present the next contestant. That charming smart guy with dimples aka Nonso's best friend. He is that friendly guy in the team that you can't date because he is a big time playboy.
We present to you Dickson. Please clap. It's not easy to be so good-looking. Nonso, Dickson and I started from GSC's nursery school to this point. I don't think they know me but I can remember vividly that they were cute, innocent, friendly and smart boys. But they meet wrong people in their lives and are now playboys.
So, let me not waste your time. There are five boys that are referred to as Star boys. I have mentioned two. The rest, you will meet them later.
The Star girls is made up of five girls. Regina and her minions. Regina is like those queenbee or mean girls in American schools though not literally. She is rich and beautiful. I won't deny! Like whatever. She is fine, so? Should I now die?
Hey! I'm not jealous. In my junior years, I lived a life of depression. I was a wannabe. I tried to march up to Regina so that Nonso will notices me. It ended sorrowfully.
I have moved on. He is my ex now. Not interested in him.
Right now, Regina just walked in.
"Where is my hubby?" Regina shrieked. Her eyes fell on Nonso and she grinned.
"Honey! How far?" she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Wassup?(What's up?) Babe!" he pecked her lips.
"Eww! Guys! We are here!" Peggy screamed. Everyone erupted into laughter.
However, Ijeoma just hissed, "Mtchew!"
"I hate Regina! " she murmured. I shrugged because I don't like her too. Her appearance looks so perfect with that hourglass shape of hers.
The teacher walked in. We all greeted and class began.
***************************
"It's lunch time!" I exclaimed.
Ijeoma shook her head. "You like food eh!" she clapped her hands.
"What? Is there no freedom to eat?" I pulled my lunch bag and placed my lunch box that contained my food on the table.
I opened it. The aroma of a freshly prepared jollof rice filled the air.
I breathed in its fresh scent.
"Yummy!" I licked my lips.
I began to eat with joy.
"Can I taste?" Ijeoma asked.
"Sure! "
She took two full spoon and stood up to leave.
"You prefer to eat snacks, so why taste my food?" I teased.
"I wanted to check if it is health for you"she said playfully and left the class, heading to the school's snack shop. There is also a canteen where they sell good food but my mom's food is the best to me.
Lunch was over and I was prepared to learn since my stomach was satisfied.
Mrs Bridget, our class teacher walked in. A wide smile on her face. Three new students resumed our class. Two were girls and the other was a boy who I'm sure will never be among the populars. He looked like the quiet and simple guy.
One of the girls that resumed was kind of pretty which drew the star boys' attention.
She glanced at everyone's face and nodded with a pleased smile.
"Good Afternoon, students " she greeted.
We replied.
"Welcome to all new students. I hope you are enjoying this school. You will love here" they replied with a nod.
"Okay! We need to change the sitting pattern of each and every one of you" she announced.
Students began to groan. We all know this might not end well.
Ijeoma snapped her head at me and stared with a weary and sad look.
"What?" I pretended to be ignorant.
"We might not end up together!"
"You can't tell"
Mrs Bridget unfolded a paper and began calling names. She instructed them on where they should sit. Trust me, I don't know how she is tolerating their rude remarks and attitudes.
"Frederick Okoro!" she called.
"Yes, ma'am!" a deep voice replied.
"Sit on the empty chair behind Naomi" she said to him already getting pissed off.
I do pity her sha!
Frederick groaned, mumbled some words under his breathe and slumped on the seat, causing his shoe to touch my white socks below.
I swallowed my anger because I hate to have my socks dirty. It makes it seem like I am dirty.
I peeped to see that it was still clean.
I left out a breathe when I heard my name. The teacher looked at me and nodded.
"Your seat is okay!" She added.
"Peggy! I said you should sit beside Naomi" she yelled.
"But that guy is still sitting there," she pointed to a boy who sat at the chair beside me.
He quickly stood up freeing the seat for Peggy. Yeah! Ijeoma was lucky to sit beside Nonso. I could see her blush hard.
Peggy was by my right and a strange guy. I mean the new guy sat at my left.
Civic Education class started and ended well. I was preparing for the next class when boom! I felt a leg hit me hard. I am sure that left a pattern on my socks.
I turned to the culprit. However, he was stretching and yawning all at once.
I cleared my throat which drew his attention.
"Hey!" he smirked. "Deskmate!" this time his tone was lifeless.
With a sour tone, I replied "Yeah! Nice to see you!"
He nodded and stared at me.
"Can you explain to me why your legs are stretched to my direction?" I asked.
"They aren't!" he looked under the desk. He rose his gaze to me and nodded. "They just aren't!"
When, right there! His legs were stretched to my direction.
"I won't stand having you dirty my socks" I snapped.
"Don't blame me! Just complain to Mrs Bridget. I hate this seat. It sucks" he growled.
"Why are you sitting like that. You are in a class, you know. You are not in your father's house," I stared him down.
"How will I grow tall if my legs aren't given the space it deserves," he whined.
"What kind of excuse is that?"I retorted.
"See, just complain to Mrs Bridget and get her to change me. It's quite simple" he shrugged lazily as he relaxed on the chair.
"I won't! I don't want wahala ( 'wahala' means problem) " I replied.
"Oh, I have got a lot of trouble in me. A lot of wahala! Just trash me now or prepare to spend the whole term with me behind you" his eyes drilled through mine and I just shrugged.
"Okay! " I mean it can't be that bad! Right?
