Each teenager got ready for the night of their lives. To them, it was just a regular Halloween party, but they had no idea.

Miyo finished her costume with a creepy hockey mask. The mask resembled the character Jason from her father’s favorite movie Friday the 13th.

Gwin finished off her costume with a mask just like her friend, but her mask was from one of her favorite musicals; Phantom of the Opera.

Clive just throws on a funky mask.

Ethan goes all out with a costume of the 10th doctor from Doctor Who.

Lillie is dressed up as a witch.

And Jake slips on the mask of Brandon James from the Scream MTV Series.

Loud music fills the ears of each of the children as they grow closer to the asylum. None of them can discern the difference between the music and the kids screaming.

Gwin is the first one there, standing outside of the scary real doors to the asylum. How are these kids not the least bit freaked out? Who in student council came up with the idea to have a Halloween party at an actual asylum? Gwin’s thoughts stop when she notices Miyo walking towards her.

“Hey!” She laughs as she rips off the hockey mask.

Gwin only smiles and shakes her head, “Ooo, so scary.”

“Have you ever even seen the movie?”

“Sorta.”

“I’ll take that as a no. We can find a day to then.” Did I just ask her out? Miyo’s thoughts swirl.

Did she just ask me out? Gwin’s face turns red, “Sure!”

An awkward but exciting silence consumes them.

“So, you wanna go inside of this asylum?”

“No, not really.”

“Oh, come on! How bad can it be? It hasn’t been running since like forever.”

“Miyo, it can still be haunted.”

“My dad played tons of games with asylums in it! I’ll protect you. I’mma pro.” Miyo wasn’t as nervous as she was when she first talked to Gwin. Was this how her dads felt?

Further inside stood Clive and all of his football friends. They all had on masks and their football jerseys. Typical. Across the main entrance of the asylum stood Ethan just looking around, waiting for some dirtbag to pull a prank on everyone. Instead of a dirtbag, he got a football player. “Hey, Ethan.” Why the hell was he talking to me? “What do you want Clive?” Ethan’s snappy reply made Clive wince. Ethan notices this, “Sorry. I’m just not used to talking to one of my bullies.” Clive’s face softens, “I’m sorry about all of that. I just…” He trails off, leaving the Doctor confused. “I like your costume. My mom used to be obsessed with Doctor Who.”

“Really? Which doctor was her favorite?”

“9. She loved him so much.” Clive sounds a little sad.

“I hated his regeneration.”

“Me too.” Clive smiles again. Ethan looks down and smiles.

“What?”

“I’ve just never imagined a football player liking the same TV show as me.”

What Ethan didn’t know was that Clive’s mother was killed when he was in 7th grade, but how is what scares the poor jock every time.  

Lillie senses a weird feeling as soon as she wanders into the asylum. It’s been closed down for a long time, but it’s still really creepy… As if the people there decades ago were still wandering, trying to get out, or trying to get the help they were sent here for.

“Boo!” Jake grabs onto her shoulders. Lillie almost screams, but only a gasp is released. She wants to punch him right in the face, but that wasn’t like her. It’s the asylum messing with her.

“This place gives me the creeps,” she shivers from the sudden coldness.

“Isn’t that the best part?” Jake smiles, hoping to calm her nerves. What doesn’t help is the lights going out in the asylum.

“How could anyone get to the power? That part is blocked off to the the public isn’t it?” Lillie tries to hide her fear with her knowledge. Jake notices this; he suddenly doesn’t want to be such a prankster anymore.

People scream and start running out of the asylum. Gwin and Miyo are nowhere near an exit; none of the kids are, but somehow all the other kids make it out.

“Miyo… remember how I asked you if you ever watch Phantom of the Opera?”

“Yeah?”

“Well… I think you’ll get a 3D preview.” A chill shivers down Gwin’s spin. She grabs Miyo as the chandelier in the main lobby crashes down.

Lillie passes out from the amount of fear, and Jake gets hit by a piece of debri from the crash. Clive trips, stumbling with Ethan by his side. Gwin and Miyo also lay unconscious.

The eerie quietness roams in the asylum; no other students are seen, except for the six unconscious ones.
