Chapter 1
Jimin closes his eyes and takes a deep breath as he starts moving to the rhythm in his head. The homemade rhythm he spent so long adjusting to. It's the rhythm of the flowing wind, the pattern of the trees dancing, the tempo of the colorful butterflies wings beating as they take off around him. Everything Jimin grew to love about the meadow, his meadow. He dances to the rhythm of every single thing surrounding him letting his voice lead his body movements.
Something's off.
Jimin stops his singing and freezes his body in the arabesque position before gently letting his leg down and foot hit the floor. He opens his eyes and realizes he is face to face with a person.
No, not any person. A man that has been visiting almost everyday for the past month. Offering money for his meadow. But to Jimin, no amount of money would ever cover the cost of this precious place. It's much too special to be covered up by an unpleasant building. Where would all of the rabbits go? Or the frogs that live near the tiny stream in the meadow? What about Jimin himself? His cabin is on the meadow too, but it adds to the beauty of the meadow. Bees, birds, and other creatures built nests in the crooks of his house.
"Hello Jimin." The man says in a monotone voice, his voice like velvet against the sounds of the meadow. He is dressed in a suit and tie, probably dying of heat. He has a fake, gummy smile plastered on his face. If he was actually happy, his smile would show off his amazingly placed cheekbones.
Jimin knows he is being forced to walk out here and ask him the same question everyday. Yet his boss doesn't give up on him. The man holds out a piece of paper, probably with a big number on it.
Jimin's eyes go big in excitement as he remembers the present he made a little bit ago in anticipation of the man's arrival."Yoongi! I have something for you! Can you wait here? I will be riiiight back." Jimin draws out the word and gives the man a toothy smile as he turns around towards his cabin. He skips, missing the rabbit hole and random dips in the earth. He had memorized everything about his meadow in the 19 years he spent growing up in it.
When he reaches the door of his tiny wooden house, he opens it to the familiar squeaking of the hinges. Jimin quickly grabs the box on the table to his right, containing the present for the man. He doesn't bother closing the door as he skips back to where the man is still standing."I made it just for you Hyung!" Jimin hands the box over to the man with the fake smile. He at first looks suspiciously at Jimin before opening the box. He takes the lid and places it on the bottom of the container.
He starts talking but before his words start forming sentences, Jimin takes out the pink flower crown and places it on the man's head. Just as he thought, the pink goes well with his mint-green hair. A giggle forms in Jimin's mouth.
The man simply frowns and takes off the crown, placing it back in the box, giving it back to Jimin."Why do you always have to be so serious Yoongi? Won't you dance with me?"
The man holds out the piece of paper once again. Jimin simple shakes his head and pushes away the paper. He has no need to look at how large the number has grown."If you aren't going to accept the offer, I will be going then." He turns around and starts walking towards the building he came from.
"Bye Yoongi-Hyung! See you tomorrow!" Jimin furiously waves goodbye to the man. His smile never leaves his face.
Jimin is carefree. He dances and sings all day. Sometimes he takes care of the animals in his meadow. He eats from his garden and the fruit trees around his cabin. He refrains from eating meat, he couldn't possibly think of devouring an animal.
Jimin stays silent, listening to all the sounds around him, before matching his breathing to the rhythm of his surrounding reverberations. He starts humming, using the sounds of the animals, bugs, and plants as his instruments. His body almost moving on his own as he dances to the song he creates. No song is like the other, there is always a difference with sound combination, tone, and the way everything makes Jimin feel. Before he knows it, the sun is setting and the fireflies come out. The moon acts as the spotlight for Jimin as he moves across the meadow.
And he dances. He dances until drowsiness catches him and the mosquitoes become too much. He returns to his cabin and into his bed, only to dream about happiness in his dreams as well. Because for Jimin, Happiness is his meadow. He will never let anyone take his happiness away from him.
