After my rather unpleasant meeting with Mr.Snow I was brought back to my apartment in the tributes building to get ready for the Victors party. After locking myself in my room because I didn't want to see anyone on my floor my stylist came knocking on the door and told me I needed to get ready. I may or may not have told her to bite me.
So after this kicking and screaming match, which consisted of me doing the kicking and screaming, I finally struck a deal with the Capitolian woman to allow me to prep in the tribute prep room, which is where I am now.
"One final touch and were done!" Shrills the woman with unnaturally pink hair. She has given my face a more sculpted and sultry look, probably on the request of Snow might I add, and I am wearing a royal blue long gown where the bodice makes a deep-v and is made of a material shaped to look like a bunch of little flowers are forming it. My hair was done up in knot with some lose strands left to hang in front of my face.
"Yay." I say unenthusiastically.
"Now quick you don't want to miss your limo, if you arrive after 7, you'll miss the Victors arrival, which is a must see!" Says my stylist.
"I know," I say dryly. "I was the one entering last year remember?"
"Was it really only last year? You look so much older now! I just though because of the worry lines and the wrinkles-" With that I get up to leave and go find my limo.
"Ms. Jones you may enter limo number two to take you to the ceremony." Says one of the bellhops dressed in a suit. I nod. I make my way into limo two and sit in silence for the whole ride over.
As I exit the limo, I can't see anything, I'm being blinded by the flashing of cameras and all I can hear is people shouting my name. As I step out onto the red carpet I can see that there is a few other Victors that have yet to make their way inside talking to some of the people and reporters on the other side of the rope, so I decide to follow their lead.
"Octavia! Octavia!" I hear coming from a group of reporters that I make my way over to.
"Hello boys." I say nonchalantly.
"Ms. Jones is it true that your dating a person from the Capitol?" Says another.
"No, where did you hear that? Can't go believing everything you hear now can you?" And with that the reporter walks away as another aggressively moves to the front to take his spot.
"How do you feel about the statements that you made about your tribute before the games? Do you feel that it effected his game?" The reporter says.
"No." I say sharply.
"Can you confirm that you had sexual relations with your tribute?" At this my eyes widen and my mouth gapes, where on earth are they getting this stuff from.
I'm silent for a few seconds before my reputation is saved by a voice. "I think the real question should be whether or not she had sexual relations with me." I look up to see Finnick behind me who has placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Which the answer to is no." I add.
"Yeah she's a sweet girl, but I think she's a bit young for questions like that don't you think?" Finnick says to the reporter as he raises an eyebrow at him.
"Just smile and wave." Finnick whispers in my ear, so I begin to do as he says. We both end up walking all the way into the banquet hall, which is almost silent with the exception of classical music playing and the faint noise of people talking.
As we get far enough into the hall Finnick turns in-front of me grinning like an idiot. "I totally saved your butt out there."
"My butt was doing perfectly fine out there thank you very much." I say as-a-matter-of-factly.
"Oh really? Then how about I ask you if you has sexual re-"
"Okay fine thank you for your help Mr. Odair." I laugh as I cut him off. "But 'sweet' and 'young'? are they gonna buy that?"
"Why I happen to think you're both, not in a bad way of course." He replies looking down at the floor.
"Fin, I'm a week older than you." I state, to which he looks up to me with his goofy grin.
"But I'm taller." He interjects playfully. "And wait did you just call me Fin?"
"Yeah do you like it? Actually don't answer that because I'm gonna start calling you that anyways." I say.
"I don't care what you call me, as long as it means I get to talk to you." He says looking up at me with his sad blue eyes like mine.
"Awww getting a little sentimental are we?" I joke.
"No." He whines.
At that moment the front doors swing open fully and none other than Johanna Mason steps through them.
She is immediately ushered towards the line of Victors, which she walks by with out even glimpsing at them. I can feel my face form a mischievous grin that I know Finnick sees.
"Octavia...." He says in a cautioned tone. "What are you-"
I begin to walk towards the newly crowned Victor, who has made her way to the food table. As I approach the table where she is sitting she looks up at me and raises an eyebrow.
"If you're going to tell me that I'm a bitch for killing your wimpy little girl tribute, I'm not sorry." She said without even looking up from her plate.
"No, I'm here to say thanks for saving me the trip home with the bitch bragging about winning the whole time, saves me a headache really."
She looks up at my comment and smirks. She then looks past me to Finnick. "And you are?"
"Finnick O-"
"Don't be an idiot of course I know who you are, both of you, but my question is why are the two of you friends and why are you talking to me?" She asks almost inquisitively.
"Because I think you're like us, not like the rest of them." I say gesturing to the other Victors.
"Look what the cat dragged in." I hear an irritable voice say. Cashmere.
"Look what the dog shit out." I whisper so only Finnick and Johanna can hear.
"Hello Octavia, Finnick." Cashmere says drawling you Finnicks name."Johanna dear I know you might think that these two are a good idea to hang around, but theres a much better group of Victors I think you should join instead of turning it down like these two misfits did."
"And hang out with you and the other careers until I look like a hooker no thank you." Replies Johanna with a fake sweetness in her voice. Glimmer scoffs loudly and walks away.
"I think were all going to get along just fine." Finnick says.

After the dinner I meet with Finnick on the balcony before we have to leave. We both sit on the ledge top staring out at the city, just like we did the year before.
"Is this going to be our thing?" He asks as I place my head on his shoulder.
"It can be if you want." I reply.
"I would like that." He says softly.
After about a minute I break the silence with a question that has been pressing on me since this morning. "Finnick what did Snow mean when he said those close to you get hurt?"
He grimaces and shifts to face me. "It means that he killed my family."
"Finnick I'm so sorry."
"No its alright you need to know. He killed them because I wouldn't do his dirty work for him. And thats why I didn't tell you about all that stuff because I don't want you to get hurt too."
"Finnick promise me if Snow threatens me you won't take it, I don't want you to suffer because of me."
"I'm sorry I can't."He says. "If he hurt you in anyway it would kill me if it was because of my actions, I'd rather go through the games again than see Snow touch a single hair on your beautiful face."
"Finn I-"
"Its time to go Octavia." I hear my stylist call to me. I bid good bye to Finnick and make my way to the door. I look back at him one more time and smile. He called me beautiful.
