chapter 1

*splash*, just like that, water slapped me across my face.

I stood there, as all the eye's of patients, doctors, and other people, stared at me, putting a hole into my heart. I opened my eye's slowly, to see the face of my senior, whom I hate the most. But the thing which I hate the most is, the smirk which formed on her face as she threw water on me.

Other seniors and doctors gathered around us, as everyone in this vast hall of The City Hospital Of Delhi, stopped in their tracks wondering what's going on here?

"What is going on ruhi? Why did you do that to puja?", one of the senior, Dr. laksh came forward and interrogated ruhi, as he looked at puja with pity/=.

To see, a junior getting insulted in main hall of the main hospital of one of the great city of india, everyone pitied her. Not only with curiosity but also with pity, everyone looked at her. Everyone saw the formed smirk on Ruhi's face. All their coworkers who thought of Ruhi as a kind women, is now looking as a kind of evil senior. While as they saw puja, everyone couldn't find even a single bit of emotion in her eye's. Her eye's were cold as ice, looking straight at ruhi.

Instead of answering to laksh, ruhi shouted at puja, " What the fuck are you looking at?. Don't think you can scare me, after not even doing your work properly. Because of your negligence, I had to come back to hospital and check on patient, IN YOUR PLACE.".

As she accused puja about her not doing her work properly, everyone's pity for puja turned into disgust. Murmur started spreading across the whole hall. The senior laksh who tried to talk to ruhi, sided with ruhi.

Rather than answering her anything, puja started laughing, like she has gone mad. Everyone gave her weird looks, like she is some kind of a psycho. But, a chill spread through ruhi's body, as she saw puja's ice chilling eyes and that weirdly calm laugh. looking at ruhi everyone stopped talking, breaking the silence, puja started walking towards ruhi as, ruhi took steps backward. Dr. laksh came between them to stop puja.

She glanced over him, and then ruhi, as she spoke, "Dr. Ruhi , do you know when was the last time I slept?"

Her question confused everyone as it wasn't really an important question but then ruhi replied, "H..how would I..I know that?", hearing her stuttering voice, some people thought she was afraid, while those who knew her personally, wondered why she's behaving like that?

"OH really?", puja asked as she took few more steps forward gazing straight in her eyes. Wondering what's happening, Dr. laksh, backed away and let puja walk toward ruhi. Everyone looked at puja as she continued, "How wouldn't you know, since I'm the one who's treating my patients, your patients, preparing for my exam and still writing reports for you case."

At this point, ruhi felt frightened as she realised, her doing came infront of everyone. Not knowing what to answer, she stuttered as she answered, "I...I don't know, Wh..what you are talking about!", she divertade her eyes after answering.

" You of all people know very well what I'm talking about.", she stated as she forced ruhi to look into her eyes. Her seniors shocked at the way puja behaving, everyone knew her as a sweet, kind, smart and silent introverted girl. But the way, she's violantly making ruhi to look at her, is very new to them and may be to puja herself too.

Looking in ruhi's eye's, she saw something which made her smirk and that's "fear". It was as if she lost herself, but she doesn't have enough strength to stop herself, so she's enjoying the pleasure she's getting from seeing ruhi scared. Then she continued, tightning her grip on ruhi's face, " You know, I didn't slept a wink in last week. For fucking seven days. Do you think these black patches under my eyes from playing around. I was working like a donkey while you were having fun with your boyfriend, clubbing and playing games. You know what, let's just check the CCTV footage, cause, I mean you used to be here when we had to give our presenty." Then puja, took her hand back, facing other side, she took few steps away from her.

Grasping the whole situation, all seniors and senior doctors started asking ruhi, "What is it all about ruhi?" "Why did you do that?" " Are you even an human?" "She's our junior, a third year medical student only. As her senior you should help her with her job, not making her do yours"

puja closed her eyes, and stood their, silently listening to their questioning. "I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG. SHE MADE ME DO IT. SHE PROVOKED ME FIRST. HOW DARE SHE, A MERE THIRD YEAR TRY TO COMPETE WITH ME IN EVERYTHING I DO. IF THAT'S THE CASE, SHE DESERVES__", before ruhi could end her sentense, a slap hit her across her left cheeck.

Everyone gasped as they saw, puja slapping ruhi, gaining her sense back ruhi looked at puja and said, "You..you, HOW DARE YOU? Did you forget who I am? This hospital belongs to my uncle, I'll make you to lose your internship here."

To that, puja laughed, as she flipped her hairs back, and said smoothly, " YOU don't have to do that. I'LL DO IT MYSELF."

Saying that, she walked through the crowd of peoples, without looking back, without responding to her seniors's pleadging she took off out of the main gate.

As she left, everyone turned to ruhi, everyone knew that she's a egoistic person but her act of kindness covered it all up. But today even her act was shattered like some glasses. The way she acted with puja, a junior, lived disgusting look in everyones eyes for her, it was way more disgusting that they gave puja back there.
