Krista and Alexis both sat on the swing set, rocking back and forth with the wind.

Krista scrolled through her phone, trying to find the nearest bus route that went to her college. She started wondering if she could call one of her college friends to pick her up.

Quiet creaking could be heard as the slightly rusted chains of the swing swayed on their old, rickety hinges at the top of the small swing set.

Alexis stared at the sand beneath her feet as she moved back and forth on the small swing.

Alexis' jean jacket did an amazing job at keeping her warm, but she still felt cold, in her heart, that is.

Her heart was left shattered after hearing the closest people to her fight and yell at each other with so much hatred in their voices.

It left Alexis cold and lost.

Now she quietly sat on an old swing set with one of the people she despised the most.

Alexis never liked any of Max's girlfriends. She always thought they were just using her father because of his money and fame.

They played with Max's feelings like they were toys, and, being the grubby little toddlers they acted like, would throw them away like they meant absolutely nothing.

To Alexis, all of Max's girlfriends thought of him as expendable; as if there were multiple people in the world just as loving and caring as he was.

In Alexis' eyes, that wasn't possible. To Alexis, Max was the most caring, loving, supportive, funny, trusting, honest, and kindest guy in the world. Besides Tim and Ross, that is.

Alexis was brought out of her thoughts by Krista speaking rather loudly into her phone.

"Yeah, can you pick me up? I'm at Children Memorial Park," Krista spoke into her phone. (As far as I know, I made that up.)

Alexis looked back down at the ground and wiped her tear stained cheeks with the back of her hand. She sniffled and swung her legs, making the swing gain momentum.

(Idk wtf I'm doing anymore ._.)

"Hey, Alexis!" Alexis heard an unfamiliar voice call out. She looked up from the sand and scanned the area, looking for the source of the voice.

"Who's there?" Alexis spoke softly. Krista was too caught up in her conversation to notice Alexis talking.

"Guardian angel Bubba," Alexis heard Bubba say. She giggled. "Talk to me in your head so you don't gain any unwanted attention."

Alexis nodded and balled her hands into fists, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. (¯\_()_/¯ )

"What did you wanna talk about that's so important you couldn't wait 'till I fell asleep?" Alexis asked the honorable angel speaking to her.

"I come bearing GREAT news!" the angel replied, his voice full of enthusiasm.

"And what's that?" Alexis asked, peering over at Krista; Krista returned the gaze, a small reassuring smile rested on Krista's face.

"Drum roll, please!" Bubba laughed at his own quirkiness before revealing the news. "You are tethered to all three of them!"

"Max and who else?" Alexis asked, becoming more confused, looking back down at the sand.

"Ross and Tim, of course!" Bubba exclaimed, making Alexis flinch slightly. "What's wrong, dear?"

"I'm here because they're fighting right now..." Alexis said softly, a tear rolling down her cheek and landing on the sand below her feet.

"Alexis, I want you to listen to me, okay? I need to explain the new set of rules that come with looking after Ross and Tim," Bubba said.

Alexis nodded, wiping the tears from her cheeks once more.

"Alexis, let's get going, my roommate is coming to pick us up," Krista told her as she approached Alexis. She took Alexis off of the swing.

The sun had fully set and the sky was pitch black. Alexis walked next to Krista, holding her hand as they ventured down the sidewalk.

"If you lose one, you lose the privilege of looking over the other two. Do not blow your cover, you are on thin ice because of your background. This is an experiment to test your capability to save; you have the ability to stop any mishap from happening to people you don't know in the surrounding area. It's something most full angels do on their missions," Bubba explained as a bright light shined on Alexis' face. She looked up to see a car pulling up beside them.

"Alexis, this is my roommate, Kennedy," Krista informed her. Alexis didn't respond.

Krista picked Alexis up and sat her in the back seat, pulling the seat belt across her chest. Krista closed the door and hopped into the passenger's seat.

"Is that all?" Alexis asked Bubba, rubbing her eyes.

"Yes, child. I will see you soon. Good luck out there!" Bubba bid Alexis farewell as he faded from her subconscious.

"Alexis, honey, how are you holding up?" Krista asked in a soothing voice.

Alexis looked up at her, tears welling in her eyes again. Krista sighed and turned back to face the windshield. "Let's hope they've stopped fighting."

"Who is she to you, anyway?" Kennedy asked Krista, as if Alexis wasn't in the car.

"My boyfriend's daughter," Krista answered. Kennedy shot her a confused look.

"I thought your boyfriend's daughter hated you! You complain about it all the time!" Krista shrugged.

"Can we not talk about this right now?" Krista asked kindly.

"Since when did you care about what a four year old thinks? She won't even understand! She's FOUR!" Kennedy said somewhat rudely.

"She's a smart four year old, let's put it that way."

Yelling could be heard as they pulled into the driveway.

Alexis shut her eyes tight and covered her ears.

Krista got out of the car and went up to the front door. She rang the doorbell a couple times before Tim's head popped out.

He wore a flustered expression on his face as he shook his head at Krista. He then looked over at the car.

Alexis sat on her legs, looking out the window at Tim. Tim gave Alexis the best smile he could muster up and waved kindly. Before Alexis could wave back, the front door closed and Tim disappeared inside.

Alexis sighed, closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep; the roar of the car's engine was the last thing she heard.
