Max's POV

"I'M DONE! I'M HEADING OUT FOR A WHILE!"

"YOU SHOULD GO OUT TO COOL DOWN! HOTHEAD!"

I angrily shut the front door after grabbing my keys, jacket and wallet.

I turn around to see a small child, wrapped up in a yellow blanket in a chocolate brown glazed basket. My expression softened as I walked over to the tiny infant.

"WHY DON'T YOU JUST STOP! I AM PRETTY SURE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD ENOUGH!" A muffled voice yelled, it was so muffled I couldn't tell if it was Ross or Tim's voice.

This is not a place for a child...

I picked up the basket and sped walked over to my car, placing the basket in the back seat and strapping it in the best I could with the seat belt.

I got into the drivers seat and started to drive off.

I get to a small, quiet area. I love it here, it's always comforting and has a kind aura surrounding it.

The park.

I park my car beside the beaten up playground and shut my door. I walk over to the other side of the car and take out the basket with the small infant in it. I carry the basket over to a bench under a tree. It's night right now, the moons glimmer on the various playground areas and small puddles in the grass.

I walk over to the bench and set the basket next to it. I sit on the bench and rub my eyes. Stress of the channel and just, everything in general is getting to me. I then notice, the infant hasn't made a single noise this entire time I've had it.

I carefully pick up the small infant and hold it the way Alesa taught me to hold Mason. I smile down and the small child. I wrap the blanket around it more as a paper falls out of the blanket and onto the ground. Questioningly, I carefully lean over and pick up the paper. It's an envelope with some items inside. I put the child, that I don't know the name of, back into the basket and open the envelope. The contents are,

Two pairs of earrings, one gold flower with a small diamond in the middle and one silver plain pair of cross earring.

One necklace, it has a gold heart with a seven carved into it on a silver chain.

And a letter.

I put the necklace and earrings in my pocket and open the letter,

To whom has found my daughter,

In your care, sight or doorstep is my precious little angel. Her name is Alexis Elizabeth. She is only one month old and I can not give her the future she deserves. I have enjoyed the one month I have had with her and I love her so, so much already. Sadly I am too young and incapable to care for her and she will only break down and not be what I want her to grow and become. I'm begging you please, please, please take my little Alexis under your wing and help her thrive to be the person I can only dream of her becoming under my own, broken, leaking roof. I ask with the necklace, give it to her for her fifth birthday. With the earrings you can get her ears pierced at three months, no longer than eight months. Those pieces of jewelry have been passed down for generations, Alexis is next on the list. Alexis may develop the problems I did as an infant so just a warning. Also please, if you are not capable of taking care of my child DO NOT send her to an orphanage. That will only make matters worse. If you cannot take care of Alexis then please find someone who can. This is for her sake and her future. Please take care of my little Alexis.

Regards The Parent Of This Child.

...

Wow...

I look down at Alexis only to find her smiling at me, her grey eyes met mine and she smiled brighter. Yet I haven't heard a single peep out of her.

I flip the letter over only to find a small list.

Until you have the things you need to take care of Alexis, here are some things to help you out,

Six diapers,

Two baby bottles,

Her stuffed bear,

Another blanket,

Two pacifiers,

One other set of pjs

And a box of formula that you mix with water, instructions on the box.

Where?

I put the letter back in my pocket and pick Alexis up. She had little mitts on small her hands. I lift up the second blanket to find all the things Alexis' mother listed.

As well as ten missed calls.

Alexis smiled up at me and yawns, still making no noise. I put everything back into the basket and tuck Alexis in the basket right after. I carry the basket over to the car and wedge it in between the passenger seat and the back seat. After making sure it won't move as I drive, I go over to the drivers seat and start the car.

~~~~~~~~~
I set Alexis' basket down as I take my keys out of my pocket. My keys clanging together making a clinking sound. As I twist the door knob I'm tackled into a hug by my roommates after it swings open.
"Max! Are you okay?" Ross asked.
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"You were gone for almost four hours! It's midnight, Max," Tim said.
I look down at my phone as I click the home button.
12:03AM
"Let's go inside," Ross said as he grabbed my arm and dragged me inside the house.
"WAIT! I'll meet you in the kitchen," I shake out of Ross' grip and open the front door again. I grab Alexis' basket and bring her inside, shutting the door with my foot and quickly locking it.
"What is it Max?" Tim asked. (No joke I was about to leave Alexis outside and when they leave to go get breakfast or something, have them find her but... I'm not that cruel hue hue hue)
"I want you to meet someone," I walked up the stairs and up to the little living room area. I set the basket down on the carpet and sat cross legged in front of it.
"Who? Why do you have a basket Max?" Tim asked as I began to take the note out of my pocket and gave it to them.
Ross looks over Tims shoulder and tries to read it. Tim folds the letter as Ross quickly takes it from him.
"I wasn't finished reading it yet," Ross mutters quietly reopening the letter.
"So... where's Alexis?" Tim asked as Ross looked up at me.
"Right here," I pick up Alexis out of the basket and cradle her in my arms. Ross and Tim started cooing over the infant in my arms as she smiled up at them. Tim tried to take her from me but she ended up frowning as Tim reached towards her.
"Why didn't you come in when you found her?" Ross asked as he glided his finger on Alexis' check, caressing it lightly.
"I was just really mad and wanted to just, clear my mind for a bit." I rest my forehead in on Alexis' gently as she reached up and tapped my face with her yellow mitt. (FALCON PUNCH)
"I'm sorry Max, I shouldn't of said those things. You were right." The guys continued apologizing as Alexis stayed wide awake.
Don't newborn babies sleep 18 hours a day?
"I forgive you guys, I'm going to have Alexis stay the night in my room so I'll see you guys in the morning." They nodded and left as I started making Alexis a bottle of formula.
I warmed up some water and rinsed the bottle out. Alexis just laid on the blanket I set on the kitchen island. I read the box and it said to put two table spoons of powder to make a full bottle. I tested the water to make sure it's not too hot and not too cold. After it was perfect I poured the powder in and filled the bottle with water. After shaking the bottle I went and started feeding Alexis.
~~~~~~~~~~

After I changed Alexis and put on her other onesie, I carried her up to my room. I had the stuffed bear under my arm as well as both of her blankets. I set Alexis on the bed as I grabbed my bacon and eggs pj pants and quickly went to the bathroom and changed.

After I finished changing I took the necklace and the set of earrings out of my jean pockets with the letter and put them on the top of my dresser. I looked over at Alexis only to find her sleeping figure, peacefully resting on my mattress. I put a pillow, on the side of the bed that she was on, as a barrier so she wouldn't fall and hurt herself. I got in next to her and kissed her cheek.

I'm going to the court house to officially adopt her tomorrow...

~~~~~~~~~~
I wake up because of the light shining through my window onto my face and onto the bed sheets. Alexis is wide awake beside me with her arms raised, moving it in a beam of the sunlight. I smile to myself and sit up. Alexis looks me in the eyes and smiles up at me almost brighter than the rays of the sun. She has one mitt in her mouth and she's kicking her feet every now and again.
"Good morning Alexis," I kiss her forehead as she kicks her blankets. "Let's go downstairs." I pick her up and cradle her in my arms, wrapping her yellow blanket tightly around her. I grab my phone and start to look up the number for the court house.
I reach the living room and grab another bottle as well as another packet of formula out of the box. I start descending the staircase making my way to the kitchen, passing KP, or Kitty Purry, along the way.(Galileo hasn't been rescued yet)
"Morning Max, Hi Awexis," Ross greeted us, ending in a baby voice.
"Morning Ross," I said as I threw the packet of formula on the kitchen island as well as the other bottle.
"What are we going to do with Alexis?" Ross asked me as I laid Alexis down on the kitchen island in front of me, leaning against the island.
"I'm looking for a court house number so I can sign papers to be her legal guardian," I found the number and called it. "Where's Tim?" I asked as the phone kept ringing.
"He went the offices early today," Ross said as I nodded. (Tim still works at the offices but Ross and Max left recently in the story)
"Hello?"
~~~~~~~~~~

(I'm probably going to be very inaccurate so I'm sorry 'bout that)

"Do you, Maxwell Clayton LaPlume, promise to take care for Alexis' health, education and medical needs? Do you promise to guard this child and help them with anything and everything?" The judge in front of me said.

"I promise."

"Great, just sign here and here." Smiling like an idiot I obliged, signing the paperwork.

"Done." I placed the pen on the paper and slid it over to the judge.

"Great, you now have adopted Alexis Elizabeth LaPlume who is now in your care."

"Thank you."

"It's my job. Take good care of her," the judge said as I grabbed Alexis' make shift baby bag, which was an old book bag, as well as Alexis cradling her in my arms.

"I will."

"Good luck."

"Thanks." And with that I exit the court house with my new and legal daughter in my arms, my care and my protection.

I told Alesa about Alexis and asked her to go with me to get a bunch of baby stuff for her. Eagerly, Alesa said she'll meet us at the mall with Mason later today. Ross will also be joining us to help carry things as well as learn somethings to help better the care of Alexis. I can't always be home so Ross, and sometimes Tim, will have to be temporarily babysitters until I get back.

Ross took the car to quickly go get Alexis a car seat and said to call him when I finished. (Ross is 19 in this because I'm time traveling :P)

"Hello?" Ross answered the phone that was obviously far away from his face. I pushed the phone against my face with my shoulder as I carried Alexis with both hands.

"Hey we just finished up here so could you pick us up now?"

"Of course, DAD MAX!" I signed into the phone and chuckled slightly at my childish best friend.

"Whatever you say Ross."

"I got the car seat and I'm a minute away."

"Great, see you."

"See yeah." I hung up the phone and smiled down at my baby girl.

"Hey princess," I kiss her forehead lightly as she stays swaddled up in the yellow blanket. She still didn't make a noise but she gave me her familiar smile that made my heart melt every time I saw it.

"Hey Max." Ross pulled up next to us and opened his door. I opened the back seat to see a baby car seat that looked extremely confusing.

"Uhhhhhh... Ross how does this work?"

"Oh it's a three in one pretty much. It's a car seat," he took the little seat out turning it into a little carrier "A little carry seat and there's a stroller attachment in the trunk."

"Wow thanks Ross."

"No problem man." He reattached the carrier back to the car seat and I set Alexis in it, moving some of the blanket over to adjust the belt to her size. She was quite small, probably about 7.4lbs at the least. After strapping Alexis in firmly I took off the backpack filled with Alexis' things.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I put the backpack on the little fabric holder underneath of Alexis' seat. I push the stroller into the mall which is, as always, loud, crowded and busy. Ross was behind me on the phone with Alesa as we made our way to where Ross said to meet her.
We ended up at the food court not only to eat lunch but also to meet Alesa there. We scouted the area only to get a text from Alesa saying she hasn't gotten here yet. We sat at a table and waited for her. I let Alexis play with my hand, trying her hardest with the little mitts on. I don't think I should take them off, that is unless Alesa says it's okay to. I reach down and pull out a bottle for Alexis and making sure it's not cold before I start feeding her. She moves her head away from the bottle every time I try to feed her.
"Aww Awexis you hafe to eat," I say in my baby voice gaining a chuckle from Ross.
"Hey guys!" Alesa came over to us with Mason in a puffy jacket and a baby blue bag slung over her shoulder.
"Hey Alesa."
"ITS ALESA!" Ross shouts.
"And Mason," she adds kissing his forehead making him giggle.
"AND MASON!"
"Ross shut up."
"But I'm-"
"Zip it, later." Ross shuts up and turns towards Alesa.
"Where is she?" Alesa asked as I turn to her holding Alexis' sides so she stays upright on my lap.
"Alesa meet Alexis, Alexis meet Alesa."
"She's adorable!"
"I agree!" I pick up the bottle and try feeding Alexis again, which this time she cooperates with me.
"Your a natural Max but support her back a little bit more." I do as told and readjust my grip on her. "Also don't have her eat it all at once, she might suffocate because she's to busy eating to breath and too little to know better." I take the bottle out of her mouth as Alesa sits on the chair to my left. "Can I feed her?" I nod as she sets Mason on the table, I give her Alexis and grab Mason off the table while giving Alesa Alexis' bottle.
"Hi Mason." I say in my baby voice getting stares from people around us from saying it too loud. He babbles baby talk back to me making me smile at him. "Mason is getting so big."
"I know, it feels like yesterday I was holding Mason the way I'm holding Alexis right now." Alesa gushed over Alexis as she put her mitt covered hands on the baby bottle.
"Uhh Alesa?"
"Yeah?"
"Why is Alexis wearing little mitts?"
"Oh it's so she doesn't scratch her sensitive skin, ripping it easily. Baby's have to wear mitts for a while, about two-three months." (I'm not sure how long but I can't check right know... no WiFi :/ aaaaaaaand I'm lazy af)
"Okay, good to know." Ross' stomach growled loudly as Mason started poking my face. Ross had an embarrassed blush covering his checks as Alesa and I burst out laughing making Mason join in. Alexis smiled at us with a mitt in her mouth.
"I'll watch the kids, you guys can grab something to eat." Alesa offered as we nodded.
"Thanks be right back."
"Tank chu I'm starving."
"It's fine just hurry up! I'm hungry too." Alesa put Alexis in her stroller and picked up Mason from my lap. I got up from my seat and went around to the various food sellers.
What do I want to eat?
~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Okay now that we finished eating... LETS GET SHOPPING!!!!" Alesa cheered as we walked towards a clothing store.

It's going to be a LONG day...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"This one will look adorable on her!" Alesa grabbed five onesies off the rack and layed them one at a time on Alexis' small figure.
Ross and I were pushing a cart each we followed Alesa around the store. It had been three hours and we collected a lot of things. I'm pretty sure Alesa is going to have to take some stuff in her car and drop it off at the house. We had a cradle, crib, boxes of formula, baby bottles that are BPA free as Alesa suggested, diapers, wipes, baby powder, a whole load of baby clothes and two stuffed animals. Alesa had Mason in her arms, who fell asleep five minutes ago.
"Is that all?" My legs were burning and I was exhausted from walking for so long. Alexis was awake and smiling the entire time while I pushed her around in the stroller.
"Almost, we need some winter clothes. It's just around the corner ya know." I nodded as we went around again and picked out some adorable winter clothes.
We got one coat with dark purple snowflakes on a light purple background. White tuffs was on the rim of the hood and sleeves.
A different coat we got was a bright yellow with neon blue strips of reflective tape on it. Little ducks were scattered along the jacket in a cute design.
The last one we got was a child's drawing of a princess with a pink background.
Time to check out... yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Sarcasm.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Thanks Alesa! We'll see you and Mason later."

"Bye guys! And Alexis!" We waved after Alesa drove off. She had to have some baby stuff in her car since we didn't have enough room in ours with three people and a half full trunk before hand.

"SIR TIMOTHY! Help us with stuffs!"

"Dude I haven't been called that in a while."

"I called you that yesterday morning bro."

"Ohhh yeah." I shake my head at my forgetful friend and chuckle lightly.

"Help us being in the baby stuffs."

"Okay fine." I had Alexis on my back in a newly bought sling baby carrier... thing.

We carried all the boxes and things upstairs to a guest room that is going to be transformed into Alexis' new room.

"How do we put this together? This is... confusing," We had emptied the crib box and started assembling it. Tim was holding the instructions looking at the pile of parts.

"Tim."

"Yeah? Dude this is SUPER confusing!"

"Your holding it upside down man."

"Whoops." Tim flipped the instructions right side up and looked over them.

"So...?"

"I still have no idea how to do this."

"Why don't you go and watch Alexis while Ross and I assemble the crib?" I took the sling off, putting it on Tim as I quickly kissed Alexis on the head.

"Cmon Alexis! Let's play with your new toys!" Tims voice raises a couple octaves as he cooed over my little girl.

"Alexis, give Tim a bad time." I smirked as I looked at the instructions and started sorting parts.

"HEY!"

Ross and I started laughing as Tim walked out of the room with Alexis.

"You'll be good for Uncle Tim right?"

Alexis looked him in the eyes and hit him over the head with her tiny baby hands.

"I'm going to take that as a no."
