Chapter Three
Evan
After I cleaned up my mess Jon grabbed me. "What?" I cracked. When I threw up I couldn't control my crying, tears just slid out. "We need to go talk to Nephthys about this." He answered, still holding onto my arm. I pulled away, "About what?" He looked hurt but he answered anyway, "This sickness, its been going on since last night." I crossed my arms and looked at him, "I'm just sick, I'm pretty sure I'll get over it." He rolled his eyes, "That's the point. If this goes on for at least three more weeks, and if you feel better all of a sudden, something is terribly wrong." "What could go wrong if I'm just sick and feel better?" Jon sucked in a deep breath and looked me in the eyes, his bright blue eyes filled with anger. "Evan! Can't you see these are obviously signs of-" "Wait, hold the fucking phone," I snapped, "you think I'm?" I started laughing and patting Jon on the arm. "Dude that's totally im-" Jon sadly looked down at his hands. Then it hit me, the fucking book! No! No! No! I let go of Jon and pushed everything off my desk, the books we borrowed falling down. I started crying and grabbing my hair. "No! Johnny, please tell me! There's no way-" "Do you wanna fucking pregnancy test?!" He snapped, "Then I suggest we go to the High Priestess." I rubbed my face in my arm and got dressed. Jon had his signature hoodie on as I grabbed my jacket. I threw on some new jeans and we walked down to Nephthys's room together.
Jon lightly knocked on the door, we both heard a muffled, "Come in!" We walked into the High Priestess's giant room. She smiled and gestured us to take a seat in front of her desk. "What's up?" Jon bit his bottom lip, looking around then back at the older vampyre. "Its kinda really personal." I nodded, agreeing with him. "What is the matter?" She asked, going from chill to serious. "I think Evan's expecting..." Jon said in a rush. Nephthys just looked at Jon, waiting for an answer. "Expecting what?" I mentally face palmed. Jon rubbed my thigh as the word left his lips, "A baby." The vampyre's eyes widened. "How silly of an idea that is!" She laughed, she stopped when she noticed we weren't laughing, or even smiling. "Oh dear... How can you tell?" "He's been nauseous and having terrible headaches, so far since last night, its only gotten worse." Nephthys nodded at Jon's explanation. "But how?" She shook her head, thinking. Then she gasped, "Oh no." Jon looked at me, then at the High Priestess, "What?" He asked. "Demeter." "What about her?" "She's got an affinity for fertility." "Yeah?" "She might have help you with the baby, all she needed to do was have you two make love." I blushed deeply at her words. "But why would she do that!? Evan might die because of that thing!" Jon lowered his shoulders when he snapped. The word "thing" shattered my heart. "I seriously would love having a baby with Evan with our exact DNA, but if it's gonna kill him I rather not." Jon said softly. Nephthys tapped her chin, "I'll call Demeter, see what her main idea was. But you boys get rest, and just live with the fact, a happy fact, that you'll have a mini me running around." She said, and an image popped into my head. I could see Jon running with a little child on his shoulders, their blue eyes shinning. I smiled at the image.
Jon grabbed my hand as we walked out. He looked at me and smiled, "So lets go relax with our upcoming mini me." I chuckled as he pulled me to the boys's dorms. As we walked up the stairs I got a little cramp in my low gut area. I ignored it and kept going, once Jon opened the door the pain got a little worse. I shouldn't have ignored it. A huge pain ripped through the lower half of my body. I let out a low scream and fell to the ground on my hands and knees, gripping my stomach. I winced as the pain got worse. "AH! J-JON G-GO GET H-HELP!" He instantly ran out of the room. I silently cried as the pain doubled. My temples started hurting and I could feel a warm liquid running out of my nose, then my mouth. I give up and lay on the floor in my own blood. I then feel blood running down my leg. I could feel how drenched my jeans were. I yelped as the pain got worse. I needed to get to the bed, I army crawled over to the bed only to throw up my own blood. After the gagging and coughing, I used the rest of my strength to get onto the bed. I lay on my back, blood running everywhere onto the bed. My vision slightly going blurry. I rest my hands where the pain was. My world goes black as I feel small movements inside of me.
Nephthys
"Demeter! Why in Nyx's name would you do that to the poor boys!" I snapped at the High Council Vampyre. She shrugged and smiled, "Oh Nephthys my dear, you don't know what the meaning of "strength" is! If their strong enough to kill Darkness, especially Evan, then I think they can carry and give birth to a baby, specifically Evan." I slightly rubbed my head, getting a small headache from this bitter situation. Why would Demeter ever do this? She wasn't suddenly going evil was she? "What if he's not strong enough?" Demeter went silent at my question. "Then he'll wait for Jonathan in the Otherside. Besides! In the book the baby survived! So Jon wouldn't kill himself if he had a little baby to take care of." "Okay. He'll be a depressed, widower!" I threw my hands into the air, showing my anger. "And what book are you talking about?" She laughed and held up a book called, "Weird Histories of Vampyres". "It should be in your library, I'll be surprised if Evan or Jon hadn't checked it out yet." "Demeter!-" My words were cut off by Jon smashing through my door. "Excuse me Demeter. Jon what is the matter?" He finished his panting, "Its Evan! He's in pain! Something snapped! goddess I don't know! He just told me to get help!" Jon started crying, for goddess sake his mate was slowly dying.
Jon and I quickly got to their room. Jon opened the door and the site, oh Nyx, how it was terrible. There was blood at the front where you first walked in. Then there was a blood trail leading its way to their bed. On the bed there was blood everywhere, the bed would probably stink because it was wooden, and all the blood on it... was like a miniature pond. And in the middle of that pond was a very still, very pale, and very sick looking Evan.
