Chapter 7
Being cramped in a truck of four people was worse than that time Marco and Jean had given him a ride back to their place. While he was practically being squished by Reiner and Bertholdt, having to basically sit on Levi and Farlan's lap was a nightmare.
Levi was driving (and at an alarming rate at that), and Isabel sat by the window with Farlan next to her, leaving poor Eren himself to sit between the two alphas. There wasn't enough room and unless Eren wanted to suffocate between two built men he had to sit on both of their legs. Key word: on.
And it seemed like neither alpha minded either.
So it was difficult to keep himself from squirming around so much with how the warmth of Levi's thigh felt underneath his own bare one and the musky, cool scent the alpha gave off, forcing Eren to inhale it. He could feel the tense muscles in both of the alphas legs, no doubt because of how close he was pressed against them. Heck, Eren himself was fighting his inner omega in order not to out right purr.
That would be very embarrassing.
Hoping it would distract him, Eren chose to stare straight ahead, out the front, cracked window, watching as they passed by dilapidated buildings and tubledown homes. The ruined, ghost town they were in was small and quiet. A bit too quiet for him.
He narrowed his eyes, watching as glowing yellow eyes stared back at him from the darkness inside the abandoned buildings before disappearing back in again.
He was caught off guard when Levi decided to sharply swerve the truck at a turn, suddenly causing the three others to nearly topple over one another in the process. Eren had lost his balance from his spot, having had nothing to hang onto, and with a shocked gasp, unexpectedly fell into Levi's lap.
Once Levi was back on the road, speeding, he heard Levi speak above him. "Oi."
Eren looked up, catching Levi's glaring, cold gaze. Then the alpha motioned downward and said nonchalantly, "Now is not the time, I'm driving."
Perplexed, Eren furrowed his brows and looked down from where he had been sitting sideways on Levi's warm lap. Immediately his eyes widened and a bright red blush spread along his cheeks and down his neck as he yanked his hand away from Levi's crotch with an embarrassed, high-pitched squeak.
He quickly scrambled off of him and back onto his spot, ignoring Farlan's amused chuckle. He shot a deadly glare at the blonde causing the alpha to raise his hands in mock surrender, a grin on his face.
"Sorry, firefly," He apologized though it was evident in his voice he was anything but sorry. Eren wanted to bash his handsome face in.
Eren looked away from him, cheeks still burning from embarrassment. Fucking alphas, He growled internally, gritting his teeth.
A few minutes later they arrived at an old, and very large, vine-covered building with metal fencing surrounding the area.
There was broken windows and parts of the building had fallen off, crumbling to the ground. There was a large red, faded plus sign at the top and it clicked then to him that this used to be a hospital back before virus killed off the majority of the human race.
Hospital. . . . why does it look like I've been here before?
Eren hadn't realized Levi stopped the truck until a cold, rough hand snaked between his thighs.
His stiffened and a threatening growl began to form in the back of his throat as he slowly turned to look at the culprit, green eyes blazing with murderous intent and warning.
Levi only stared back at him with a raised brow as if he was doing nothing wrong. His knuckles began to move closer up Eren's smooth thighs, a click following along as his hand stopped moving but was dangerously close to the higher part of his inner thighs.
Wait, click?
After registering that, Eren glanced down between his thighs where Levi's hand was still lingering on the gear shift. In between Eren's spread legs.
He felt his cheeks heat up as he turned away and swiftly exited out the truck after Farlan and Isabel.
Once everyone was out the truck, Isabel stretched with a big, tired yawn while Farlan fetched their weapons from the back of truck.
"Wooh! That was a really long ride, wasn't it, Eren? Did you like riding with Levi? Or should I say . . . . on Levi?" Isabel smirked in his direction, wiggling her brows suggestively at him.
Eren turned away from her and grit his teeth. He hoped his face had calmed down and wasn't as red as before. God, he was acting like a high school girl. Ew, gross.
At least he was finally out of the truck. Thank fuck for that. He didn't think he could handle anymore embarrassment today. Or be around Levi's alluring, musky scent that drew him in.
He took a glance around at the area and raised his brows. Empty. The building-- or what used to be one--- was a five story. It had dead vines and cracks running up the sides and windows. The roof had collapsed at some point completely cutting off the fifth floor for them.
He was still surprised the building itself was still intact and hadn't full on collapsed during the downfall, and bombs like most other places.
The parking lot was unoccupied, save for several old rusty cars here and there. Trash and leaves littered the cracked and uneven ground around them. And from what Eren could see, the fences were still standing albeit with gaps and missing poles.
A nudge to his arm made him look over his shoulder at Farlan who smiled, offering his two, twin katanas. Eren nodded and accepted them with a small "thank you" leaving his lips before he turned his attention to Levi who had just finished loading his gun.
"So how do we do this, big bro?" Isabel asked, her machete sheathed in it's holster by her dark leather clad thigh. Eren could see her backup handgun in it's own little holster behind her pants.
Levi looked up from his gun and stared at her for several seconds before eyeing the building behind them. "Like we always do. Stick together and don't wander off."
Eren piped up from his spot, and crossed his arms, tilting his head at Levi's orders. "Why not pair up? There's four of us, wouldn't it be easier and faster to loot the place that way?"
Levi shot him a cold glare as if Eren had offended him. "And risk losing someone? No." He shook his head in disagreement.
Eren glared back with as much venom. Stubbornly, he shot back. "What's the matter? Don't trust your friends enough to look out for their own selves?"
Levi slowly stepped forward, a dangerous glint in his eyes as he gave off warning pheromones. It was obvious he was pissed off as he maliciously glowered at the defiant omega. "Are you blind? This building could collapse on top of us at any minute while we are in there and you want us to be separated?"
Levi then whirled away from him and reached into the back of the trunk to pull out a black duffel bag, tossing it carelessly in Eren's direction who caught it with ease. "Erwin told me there's a possibility this place is infested with damn titans. He's also confident there is supplies we could manage to scavenge before this whole place comes crashing down." He stated before handing another bag to Farlan.
The raven then looked up to meet Eren's green eyes as he continued, "But if you want to go wandering off and get your foolish ass killed, fine by me. Go ahead. No one is gonna stop you."
Eren raised a brow. He wasn't the least bit affected by Levi's abrasive attitude towards him. He was used to harsher treatment in the past. He sighed. "Alright, fine." He muttered before slinging the bag over his shoulder and before he could stomp away, Farlan's voice stopped him.
"Eren, wait."
He froze and looked over at him expectantly.
Farlan turned towards Levi and furrowed his brows at his friend. "Levi, Firefly has got a point. If we pair up in two's then we can get this done faster. Plus we'll attract less attention that way. We got this okay? Just this once." Farlan patted Levi's shoulder in assurance.
Levi shot him a betrayed look before glancing at Isabel who had been watching the whole situation with attentive eyes. She nodded in encouragement, red hair bouncing with her movement. Levi then sighed, rubbing his temples before reluctantly nodding in confirmation. "Fine." He grit out between clenched teeth.
Farlan grinned in triumph before looking at Eren. "Don't worry about us. Like I said, we got this!"
Eren nodded, and although it didn't show on his face, his eyes held a hint of triumph and appreciation.
Levi shot them both a scathing, sharp glare that meant harm. "But if you run into any trouble, you get out of there and meet us back here, got it?" There was a hint of worry in his tone though no one commented on it. Eren didn't blame him for not wanting to let his friend go. Levi didn't want to be separated from Farlan because he was worried for his safety. Eren could only guess that up until this point Levi had been so used to having Farlan and Isabel in his sights were he could protect them, that the thought of losing either of them made him panic and strict more so than usual.
Eren internally groaned. "I'll look out for him, okay? There is nothing to worry about." He reassured him. He knew Farlan could protect his own self but if it helped Levi calm down some, he would keep an eye on him and ensure no harm came to the blonde.
Levi seemed to relax at that though he was still reluctant. Finally, he nodded. "Alright. Let's go."
~◈~
Eren and Farlan took the third and fourth floor while Isabel and Levi took the first two.
While cautiously walking down the halls of the silent hospital with Farlan by his side, Eren caught sight of multiple skeletons strewn about the dusty floor along with decaying mutated rats that emitted a foul smell. He scrunched his nose in disgust while Farlan glanced in every room they passed for any sight of useful resources to bring back. But so far they have found none.
The halls were silent save for the occasional echoing drips and creaky sounds coming from above and ahead of them. It was slightly dark due to the dark tinted glass windows but the few broken ones aided them in light to avoid tripping over chairs and furniture that littered the narrow hall in their path.
Eren eyed the dark brown, stains splattered against the peeling, walls and floor then casted his eyes forward.
Next to him, Farlan sighed and shook his head. "It was like someone already beat us to this place." He muttered in disappointment at the lack of resources in the place.
Eren glanced at him briefly before looking away, eyes focused and senses on guard as he scanned the quiet area around him. "I'm sure there's something, otherwise Levi wouldn't have brought us here." He assured him.
Farlan gave a grunt of agreement before furrowing his brows in confusion as his eyes darted around. "I thought he said this place was infested? So where exactly are those damn titans?"
Eren wondered the same thing. If this place was infested with titans like Levi said, then where exactly could they be hiding?
A whistle caught his attention. "Yo, firefly."
Eren turned his head to see Farlan standing by a large, steel door. It was rusty and had several large dents. Before the virus, it would have been difficult to pry that door open but now, it was no big deal considering it looked weak due to the years of having no one around to repair it.
"You think it's in here?" Farlan looked at him.
Eren gave a careless shrug before nodding at the door. "It's worth checking, yeah?"
Farlan murmured in silent agreement with him before turning towards the door and kicking it several times, the sound of his boots banging against the steel echoed throughout the hall. They waited for a couple of seconds before Farlan deemed it safe and kicked down the door with rough force. It fell to the floor with a loud clang.
Insouciantly, the blonde marched in before calling out a few seconds later. "We hit the jackbot! There's a whole lot of supplies in here!" He shouted, even though Eren was only several feet away from him.
Eren sighed and replied back, "I'm right here, Sandman. No need for yelling."
There was a few muttered words and the sound of things crashing to the floor inside the room. Eren was tempted to help but movement from the right side of his eye caused him to freeze and tense in alert. He whipped his head towards the right and slowly but silently drew both his swords.
There was nothing. No sign of anything alive or moving. Then again, it could've been a small animal. But that did nothing to deter the chill of trepidation racing up his spine, and the narrow of his glowing eyes.
Farlan finally emerged from the dark room with a deep sigh, the once empty duffel bag now stuffed to the point the zipper wouldn't reach all the way completely. He was oblivious to the tense posture of Eren as he adjusted the bag over his shoulder. "I couldn't really see anything so I just threw whatever bottle I laid my eyes on into the bag." He said and glanced up at Eren who still hadn't acknowledged his presence. "Eren . . .?"
Eren broke from his state and his gaze locked with Farlan's worried ones. He shook his head and cleared his throat, the cold façade of his back on again. He dusted himself off before turning to Farlan completely and adressing him. "Was that all?" He asked him, eyeing the full bag.
Farlan nodded and grinned, white teeth flashing. "Yup, ready to go firefly?"
Eren hummed and gave a curt nod before stepping forward. "We should----"
Suddenly there was the sound of a loud clang! startling both of them and Eren didn't get enough time to react before he was knocked to the ground by a heavy force, yelping as the glass shards from the broken windows dug into the skin of his back.
"Eren---!!"
He glanced up in time to see a fist being swung his way, and he quickly dodged it, using his own to block it before swinging an arm around his attacker's neck and using his feet to push against their stomach and chest with all his strength. The sound of their neck snapping had him shoving their dark, clothed body off and he was on his feet in an instant.
Fucking hell, he growled and clenched his teeth when he saw a horde of snarling titans heading their way in both directions blocking off their only escape routes.
Grabbing both swords he was just about a second away from charging forward when Farlan's yell had him freezing. Immediately he turned to see two clothed attackers on the blonde, one trying to restrain the arm wielding a gun.
Without thinking, Eren dashed forward and thrust his blade into the one on top of Farlan, blood seeping from around the wound as it dripped to the floor. He pulled the attacker back with him before raising them and tossing them effortlessly towards the horde of titans, ignoring the screams of agony and pain as they were torn apart by the hungry dead.
Farlan managed to fight off the other attacker, kicking them away before shooting at them. Both Farlan and Eren stood back to back, fighting off any titan that came near them. Rotting, bodies began to drop one by one as Farlan's gunshots rang through the air mixed with the growls of titans trying to nab a bite of their flesh.
"Fucking hell! There's too many of them!!" Farlan shouted in irritation as his gun clicked repeatedly. He ran out of bullets.
Eren glanced at him briefly just in time to see titan's lunge at Farlan who had been trying to reload his empty, silver gun. His eyes widened in panic and Eren shouted in a fear-filled voice, "Farlan!"
His body moved on his own and the next thing he new, an immense pain shot through his entire right arm, shoulder and leg as he felt the flesh on his body being torn off by teeth. He bit back a scream as blood spurted and leaked across his entire body, staining his clothes a dark red.
Under him, Farlan was staring up in absolute horror as he watched, frozen in place, teeth sink into the smooth, and beautiful, golden skin of Eren's shoulder, pulling and stretching it before chunks of his flesh was in titans mouth. The flannel shirt he wore now being shredded.
What hurt him most to see was Eren's beautiful face twisted in pure, painful agony as he fought back screams. He looked on the verge of passing out any second due to the blood loss and Farlan knew that if he didn't act quick then they'd both be over.
He snapped his head to the side and there lied his gun between two kneeling titans that were feasting off Eren's unconscious body, too distracted to see Farlan snatching the gun. He raised the gun and shot the titans surrounding him down before forcing himself up with Eren's limp form in one arm, duffel bag still over his shoulder. He made sure to quickly nab Eren's katanas before shooting his way out the fourth floor.

Bright.
Why was everything so bright?
It was so blinding and he couldn't see a single thing. Where was he? How did he get here? Then---
". . .ren . . ."
What? This voice . . .
He recognizes it . . . but. . . .
His . . . . head. . . . the voices . . .
Screams . . . . .
"EREN!!!"
Blood splattered across his vision and he watched his father's body slump forward then down against the crystal encasing the tank he was contained in. There was a wound on the back of his head and blood was seeping out. Dead, lifeless green eyes stared back at him. His last thought, last sight----
Was of him.
He couldn't move.
He couldn't speak.
He couldn't think.
He let his eyes fall shut.
He let the darkness in.
Because for now . . . .
"Eren, promise me----!!!"
He is gone.
I can't be alone again.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Eesh. I apologize for the long delay! ū v ū Family problems have gotten to me and the only time I get to work on my stories is late at night. Sometimes I end up falling asleep due to all the stress and stuff going on. *sigh* Ugh, sometimes I just wish I'd sleep my life away. Never wake up.
As for my other stories, I feel like focusing on one story for a while because switching back and forth is tiring me out. I try to make them long and to where you guys can enjoy it but then all the editing errors and rewriting it over to make sure it's perfect makes me stay up till like 4-5 in the morning. So I'm sorry if any of my stories have been seeming rushed lately.
Also I wanted to make a new book but this time it won't exactly be a Riren book? For Levi x Eren will be a side ship (Levi will also, probably, be a bad guy). Would you guys like to pick out the pairings? For example. JeanMarcoEre, JeanEre, MarcoEre, ReiEre, BerEre, ReiBerEre (I think that's what it's called ? XD), Eruren, MikeEre, and whatnot.
Uhhhhh. . . . . what else to say. . . . . . . . . . . . . .hm. . . . . .
Welp! Byee!! ♥
