During
30 minutes until the concert starts...
Esther was talking with Kirstie as she was getting her hair and makeup done.
"We're headed for Tampa next, right?" Kirstie asked.
"Yup." Esther replied. "So we're going to have to leave by 11:30 if we're gonna be on time."
11:30? There wouldn't be much time to meet the fans...
Kirstie was upset about the time limit. But she was still excited for tonight's show.
Kirstie nodded. "Got it. 11:30."
5 minutes until the concert starts...
Kirstie was ready to perform. She was on her way to be with the guys and do their pre-show ritual.
"Slay them, Kirstie." Esther encouraged.
Kirstie smiled. "Oh, I will."
Both chuckled and kissed each other briefly.
"Love you." Kirstie smiles.
"Love you, too." Esther smiles back.
Kirstie turns on her heel and walks away.
Esther watched Kirstie walk away and couldn't help but feel like something bad was going to happen.
She shrugged the feeling off and went out to enjoy tonight's show.
During the concert...
Esther was out in the audience, and she noticed Kirstie was... off tonight (A/N: This didn't really happen at the Atlanta show. Kirstie slayed the scene).
She was missing cues, not hitting the right notes; she looked distracted.
What is with Kirstie tonight? Esther thought. She was fine before the show started.
Esther sighed.
I'll have to talk to her later.
Sunday, March 22nd, 2015, 12:46 AM
It was raining that night.
The quintet were telling stories and talking, en route to their next show in Tampa, Florida.
Kirstie was telling the guys about a woman who told her there was a girl towards the back who wanted to meet her when she heard Esther call her name.
Kirstie turned and bit her lip. Esther looked kind of pissed. She must've noticed Kirstie wasn't giving it her best tonight.
She excused herself and walked over to Esther.
"You were off tonight." Esther stated. "Is something wrong?"
Kirstie sighed. Now was the best time to tell her. Besides, it was the reason why she was slacking tonight.
She nodded once, reassuring herself this was the right thing to do.
"I think we should break up."
The words struck Esther like a tidal wave.
"You... Want to break up?" She echoed.
Kirstie nodded, looking at anything around her but Esther.
"Why?" Esther said, trying to keep her emotions inside.
Kirstie sighed. "I just felt like you were too..." She waved her hands around, trying to find the word. "Controlling."
Esther felt a lump form in her throat. (A/N: Say Something just came up on Pandora. How serendipitous!) "Oh?"
"I'm sorry," Kirstie whispers. "But I can't help but feel like that. And it seems like all we ever talk about is Pentatonix. We never talk about each other."
Esther nodded, blinking rapidly. "I get it. I get it. I understand."
Kirstie made eye contact with Esther for a split second and immediately regretted it.
Esther's eyes were shiny with tears. Behind the gloss was pain and regret. There was desperation, too. And guilt.
Kirstie tore her gaze away, letting a tear fall.
It felt so easy, but at the same time it was hard. So freaking hard. She didn't want to break Esther's heart, but she knew she needed to. Once she said the words, it seemed like the simplest task in the world. But the aftermath made her feel like the most despicable person on Earth.
Esther suddenly felt angry. "I can't help it, okay?!" She yelled.
Kirstie jumped a bit, startled by Esther's outburst. "Esther," She began.
"I'm Avi's older sister! I'm y'all's tour manager! I have to be controlling or else everything will go wrong!"
"Yes, but you're supposed to love your partner!" Kirstie retorted. "Not tell them what to do and say you love them when you really don't!"
"I do love you, Kirstie!"
Kirstie shook her head. "How do you know?"
Esther's anger subsided, replaced by guilt.
"Kirstie, please, I'm sorry."
Kirstie took in a deep breath. "We're done, Esther."
Esther let the tears fall from her eyes.
How was it that just last night we were cuddling and kissing, falling asleep in each other's arms? Esther thought hopelessly. I should've held her tighter...
It began to rain harder, so loudly Esther could barely hear her own ragged breathing.
She stood exactly where she was when Kirstie broke up with her, watching her talk so casually with her band mates.
They never asked about her fight with Esther; it was none of their business.
Avi eventually stood to go comfort his sister.
1:03 AM
Kirstie stood to go to bed with the others.
Everyone else was already in their bunks; Kirstie was walking slowly, the weight of her actions dragging her down physically and emotionally.
The bus jerked, suddenly, sending Kirstie flying.
Her head collided with the cabinets in the front lounge, the force sending her back forward to smash through the window.
Her whole body screamed in pain. It echoed through her bones, sending her heart and mind into a panic.
Her vision became black at the edges, moving slowly but surely to where Kirstie only saw darkness.

"Is everyone all right?" Kevin asks, his voice strained.
"More or less," Came Scott's reply.
"Where's Kirstie?" Esther asks.
"Last I saw her she was still in the front lounge." Scott said.
Esther crawled out into the front lounge, but Kirstie wasn't there.
"Guys," Esther called when she saw the broken window. "We need to find Kirstie."
"Mitch isn't moving." Kevin repeats. "His left leg looks broken."
Esther sighs. "Someone stay with Mitch. Everyone who can walk help me find a way to get out of here."
"Try the other door." Avi suggests.
Esther crawls over to the door on the other side, opening it and climbing out.
"Kirstie?" She called, her head spinning as she landed on the ground. She blinked and unsteadily walked around the bus.
She found Kirstie lying prone on the ground surrounded by glass, her blood pooling beneath her.
Esther gasped, running towards her.
She dropped to her knees beside Kirstie, turning her over.
There were small scratches from the glass, but Esther didn't know where all the blood was coming from.
She put her hand behind her neck, which was wet.
Esther removed her hand and found it covered in Kirstie's blood.
Esther gasped. She called for Kevin, Avi, Scott, Mitch, anyone.
Esther collapsed into sobs as the sound of sirens grew louder.
Her nightmare had come true.
