Chapter 3
It's been a long while since Lily and I took the exam.
We are still waiting on the results.
"Maybe they forgot about you guys." My big sister, Tanya suggested.
"Or they might not have accepted you." Said my younger sister Tilly.
"That's not nice." Mom chipped in.
"It's okay," I said. "They could just be taking their time."
"Or maybe they were an evil organisation who just wanted to gather information about you and your family so they invited everyone there so that they can collect blood samples and to put trackers on you so that they can sell your info to the government and make evil robots to take over the world!" Tilly explained and then she did an evil laugh.
Lily and I looked at her with a deadpan expression. At which point, Mom simply grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the room.
“I’ll go check the mail. Maybe both your letters finally came.” My big brother Riley said.
He went out while the rest of us waited for a few minutes. Then the door burst open and Riley came running in.
“Lily, Oji, they came! Your letters came!” he exclaimed.
He put them on the table and my step dad yelled throughout the house: “EVERYONE GET TO THE LIVING ROOM OJI AND LILY’S LETTERS HAVE ARRIVED!!!!!!”
In less than 2 minutes everyone had come down to see what the letter had said.
"Why didn't they just send one letter for both of them?" Aunty Marie asked.
"Because they are individual people. It would have been easier to send one, but what if one of them gets accepted and the other doesn't?" My cousin Ant said.
"That would be sad." May, Tay and Kay said simultaneously.
Lily asked, “May I go first?”
“By all means. Go ahead.” I responded.
Lily opened her letter and a small metal disk came sliding out and it then lit up causing Deku to appear on the projection.
“DEKU?!?!?” Everyone screamed in shock.
“Hello there! It’s nice to see you, Lily Poison. You may be wondering why I’m speaking to you right now instead of the principal. Truth is that I have heard of how powerful this year’s students will be so I wished to learn about you all myself.” He stated.
“Wow. Imagine how powerful everyone else must have been if Deku himself said that.” Aunty Tamia said.
“Let’s just hope Lily gets in.” Aunt Marie said, hopefully.
“Now,” Deku continued, “Let's talk. So for your written exam you got a decent score. Though you did miss many parts you still tried your hardest. The paper contained in the envelope contains what you should work on. That includes both the written and practical test."
“Lily did you even study at all before the entrance exam?” Mum asked.
“Hey don’t blame me! The questions were really hard! And for your information I did study!” Lily shot back.
“As for the practical part of the exam we had to raise the bars to pass this year’s exam as there were around 5 people who were able to get over 100 points. That means that in order to pass you would have had to have gotten a minimum of 60 points. Thankfully you were able to make that cut and you were given a few extra points for your damage control and only using your quirk when nobody else was around to minimize injuries. In total you ended up with 65 rescue points!”
“Yes!” Lily exclaimed.
“You did great!” I yelled enthusiastically.
“Just barely made it.” Tilly said, bored.
“You are so damn lucky Lily!" Anya yelled.
“Be honest, you didn’t even try to minimize injuries to others did you? You just tried to get robots that were on their own didn’t you?”
“You are correct!” Lily stated.
“With all that in mind, I would like to personally welcome you,” Deku stuck his hand out like Lily could grab on through the screen. “To our Hero Academia.”
It was silent for a few moments at which point everyone yelled out “YOU DID IT LILY!!!!!!!!”
Lily was crying a bit and was just repeating “I did it.” Over and over in between sobs.
“Alright Oji it’s your turn!” Papa cheered.
“POP IT OPEN!!!!!” Quinn shouted.
I picked up the envelope off the table and stared at it for a few moments. I was a bit nervous. What if I had failed? What if I didn't get in? What if-
"Uh, Oji? Are you going to have a heart attack or are you going to open it?" Anya asked, sarcastically.
"Right. Sorry." I then opened the envelope and put the metal disk projector onto the table and a Deku popped out again.
“Hello! Pleasure to meet you Oji Poison!"
"PLEASURE TO MEET YOU TOO!" May yelled.
Everyone shushed her and continued to listen.
"So you may be wondering why you're seeing me and not the principal-"
"Can we skip this part?" Papa asked.
"Yeah, we heard all this already." Tanya continued.
"Just listen to it." Mom said.
"For the written exam you actually did quite well. You got just above average score, more than cementing yourself a passing grade on it. You did a really great job!”
“And that is why you should study Lily.” Mom said.
“Ok I get it, I'll study next time!” Lily screamed .
“No you won’t.” I said in a monotone voice.
“Yeah you’re probably right” Lily replied
“As for the practical exam, you got 50 points! However, that was not enough to pass."
I felt a sudden rush of disappointment. Did I fail?
Everyone gave me a look of pity.
"I'm so sorry Oji." Lily said, making me feel like I was about to cry.
"BUT!" everyone looked up at the recorded message with a bit of hope
"THAT'S WHY WE HAVE RESCUE POINTS!!! Adding your rescue points to your villain points you have in total 75 points!”
Everyone in the room yelled out variations of “OJI YOU DID IT!!!! YOU GOT IT!!!!!! YOU WON!!!!!!”
“But how did I get any rescue points?!” I exclaimed both in shock and confusion.
“If you wish to know how you got 25 rescue points just look at these 2 videos!” One shows Oji using radiation to shield everyone else from debris and also grabbing the girl up from the ground. “You saved that girl even though you could have been slowed down and continued to block everyone but yourself from the giant piece of debris guaranteeing death. But you did it anyway! For your bravery you were given 10 and 15 rescue points! With this we have decided to welcome you to the hero course.”
“I… I did it.” I whispered to myself.
“Before I sign off, there is something you should see."
A video flashes on screen of a boy around Oji’s height. He was talking to Deku about something.
“Huh? Who is that?” Tilly asked.
“What’s going on?” Lily continued.
“He looks cute.” Hana said, earning a look of disapproval from Quinn.
"This is Benjamin. He took the exam at the same time as you. Please hear what he has to say."
"So," the boy began. "I was the one who destroyed the zero pointer robot, and I may have caused a bit of trouble with that."
"Okay, so why are you coming to me?"
"I'd like to apologize to a few of the others who were taking the exam. Mainly, the one guy I almost didn't get to in time, the guy who actually did get hit by some of the debris and that one girl who was scared out of her wits."
"Well, thank you for telling me."
"Is there a way for them to see this video? Or should I approach them myself?"
"I'll show them the video and you can still approach them yourself if you'd like."
"Well how do we know he isn't lying?" Tilly asked.
"You may think this is fake, but believe me, he really did do it and although he was very messy whilst doing it, he still managed to save your life and the lives of the others taking that exam."
I thought about it for a moment and made a mental note to thank him if he got in.
I hope he did. Along with that girl I helped and the guy who was keeping an eye on Lily for me. I almost forgot about him.
"Oji Poison, I wish to welcome you to Our Hero Academia!" He outstretched his hand as if I would take his hand, which I would have done if the projection didn't cut off.
Everyone was silent, just soaking in the information.
“So,” mom started, breaking the silence. “Who wants dinner?”
So, all of Oji and Lily's family members are only based off our real family. Our family is smaller than theirs, I just decided to exaggerate it. Also, please keep in mind the characters are mostly based off us and not actually us.
Just thought I'd remind everyone.
Thanks a bunch for reading! Love you all!
Toodles! X3
