Chapter 1

The mop hits the ground and my hands grip the handle furiously, scrubbing every last piece of chucked up food off the ground.

I know I asked for this job but honestly, did these children have to vomit all over the floor? It's absolutely disgusting! Ick, the mop can't clean it up fast enough and I'm having trouble not adding to the pile of muck on the floor.
But hey, I need money and this job was open so I got what I wished for!

Trying not to gag, the last of the vomit is successfully gone.
''Phew! Time to take a break!'' I'm situated in the children's ward and I basically just clean up. I'm allowed to talk to the kids but sadly I can't tell them anything about their health or answer questions about the equipment. I'm dissapointed because if someone asked me what was dripping into their arm I would probably tell them it's lemonade. Sorry, but I would find that hilarious...
''Cleanup in room 5 in the children's ward.''

Guess it's not time for a break...

The chilly air bites at me and I fold my arms around me for wamrth. A bell chimes when the coffee shop door opens, announcing everyone inside to my presence.

''Can I get a latte please?'' The woman behind the counter gives me a nod and clicks a few buttons on the cash register.
''That would be $4.98 thanks.'' The money is handed to her and the cash register pops open with a bing.
Lisa is her name, according to her name tag. What a boring name! Well, it's not unique whatsoever, what is wrong with her parents? She smiles at me once she has the money and she suddenly turns her head, yelling into the kitchen.

''Martyn make the coffee!''
My ears almost pop at her yelling and I cringe. She turns back to me and let's out a flirty smile. Leaning her elbows on the bench, she rests her chin on her hands.
''So, got a girlfriend?''

Here we go again. I put my wonderful practice into work and give her a glare.
''Yes, and I don't plan on getting a new one. I just want my coffee, Nothing, else.''
She hastily stands up and rushes into the kitchen to get away. So glad that worked, one of these days I should actually get myself a girlfriend so I don't have to keep lying.
A small, thin framed guy comes out of the kitchen with coffee in hand. His round wire glasses almost fall off his nose and he pushed them back up with a long, pointy finger.
''Here's your coffee sir, enjoy.''
I give him a nod and move over to a vintage style wooden table. The drink warms me instantly as I take a sip and I sigh in content. The doorbell chimes and a young girl walks in. She glances around and I look away quickly so she doesn't see me staring. After hastily ordering, she takes a seat in the corner to wait. I can't stop staring at her, I've never really seen anyone quiet like her. She has a small face but it's absolutely gorgeous. She has a soft round jaw and soft lips to match. I don't quiet catch her stare but her eyes look brown, absolutely beautiful. I should really stop staring but there's one other significant thing about her... She has barely any hair. Someone might say it wrecks her good looks but it actually suits her. If it were longer I have a feeling it would be a darker brown than it is now but due to lack of length you can't really see.
Someone coughs and exits the coffee shop, pulling me back to reality.
I quietly sip at my coffee and glance at the girl again. She stands up to collect her order from the counter and she leaves through the door.
Agh, I need to pull myself together, I see attractive girls all the time, it's not like she was any different was she? Sighing, I pick myself off the seat and exit the coffee shop, time to get back to work.

The walk back to the hospital is brisk and cold, and my cheeks are all flushed from the cold wind. My coffee cup now empty, I drop it in one of the bins and head to the staff changing room. My locker opens and I shrug my jacket off, placing it inside.
What's her name?
Snap out of it Dylan, she's just a girl.

I let out a sigh and shake my head, what's wrong with me?
''Hey Dylan, come help me collect all the lunch dishes.''
My work mate's head disappears from the doorway and I groan.
The work life.

Just to let everyone know, we'll try and update as much as possible but it may be slow due to some personal issues.
