Chapter 20
------------------After 15 years----------------
"Hey Zy!" Ash greets me as soon as we cross paths in the headquarters.
"Oh! Hey Ash!" we walk together while having a conversation.
"Remember how we bet all our money to get back to Earth? There's no place like Earth, it was all worth it."
"Oh.." I sigh. "Yeah, it's kind of great to be here, just enjoying all that this planet has to offer"
"It's better to have less people on this planet, isn't it?" she asks, looking genuinely happy.
"Yes, it really is."
Over the past 15 years, the team had started to live on Onocentaur and many such planets, but also re-inhabited Earth. Anyone willing to come to Earth would have to give 40 tests in 3 months about their lifestyle and knowledge of planet Earth, and it's science. Only few people passed these tests and then were taken back to Earth. Now, it only had even less than half of what it had earlier -- a population 50,000 people, all spread out across Earth. It kind of became a luxury planet. People, either couldn't pass the tests or were to afraid of what had happened in the past.
Surprisingly, Earth had started blooming with life again. Birds, fish and insects were easily seen. Trees sometimes grew bigger than the city buildings relying on them for support and protect everything under it from the sometimes harsh sunlight, which was great for birds and other animals that directly need trees for protection. My team was now spread across the entire galaxy, some on Onocentaur, some on Thunderous and some on Nedroj, all of them being very good at their jobs, they handled everything perfectly. The company headquarters on Earth was an abandoned building taken over by trees, it was also one of the only 20 building that had people, it was huge, a sky scraper that still stood strong, maybe because all of the support the trees provided. All of the 20 buildings had at least 8 members of my now, very big team who would make sure everything was going right and everybody followed the rules.
Water on Onocentaur led to aliens -- rather microscopic aliens, they weren't harmful at all instead they were quite helpful in curing some of the world's worst diseases and illnesses caused by radiation. They could protect you for more than 57 hours from radiation of all kinds. I believe it was luck that we found them, pure luck.
I recalled all my memories as I sat in the balcony, looking at the green trees, the blue birds and the orange sky as the the sun set. How I'd only heard stories of these green trees, free oxygen and clean water. All these to help me sleep when I couldn't thinking about all my kindergarten friends who had fallen severally ill only because they rebelled a little and drank water without filtering it first or took off their masks just for a few seconds. How I used to think I'll never get to see a scene like this. How I'd only seen pictures of what Earth looked like, all while I thought they were just well-made paintings. I was genuinely happy, for the first time, it seemed as if there was no place like Earth in the entire universe.
All of my accomplishments with all of the hard work I had done was finally paid off, it was all so worth it!
