Chapter 15
The interview helped me realize not everyone was still onboard with the plan. While the interview itself was a huge hit, it got me thinking. Thinking about how people didn't believe that Nedroj could be destroyed too. We all are repeating the mistakes we made in the past. Climate change is real, why can't people realize that?
Who in their right mind would lie about the destruction of the planet? I think back to when I was on earth. All those times I spent with Frank before he was taken away from me.
I understand how people might think we're saying this just to promote our products but, what about all the proofs we've given people? Can't they see the exact things that had started on earth have started here as well?
We don't force people to buy our products, but we advise them to use environmentally friendly products. Our main priority is saving Nedroj. It doesn't matter if they do it our way, or their own way.
But...that's the problem isn't it? People don't seem to believe us. They don't think it's REAL. We need people to realize the reality behind the situation. How, if we don't change now, we will have no other choice but to evacuate again. We need people who will convince people that it's real. And I know exactly who could do that.
I get out of the car and see Ash and the twins sitting on the sofa watching the highlights of the interview. The twins tackle me in a hug. "Your interview was so amazing." Zach says. I smile at them.
Ash smiles from behind and nods. "It sure was. You're born to be a leader."
I nod at her in thanks and smile. Then, I motion to my room. She understands.
I tell the twins to sit back down and put on some cartoons. The third moon is about to rise.
I enter my room and Ash follows behind me. I sit on the bed. She looks at me in concern.
"What's wrong?" she asks.
"People still don't think we are telling the truth. They are still protesting." I say softly.
She looks at me with a sad smile. "You do realize not everyone will always agree with you right? People won't just listen to them because you ask them too. You need to convince them it is real. You need to make them believe it will affect them. You need to give them reason."
I stare at her "Haven't we given enough reasons for them to believe why we need to take care? It's gonna be just like what happened on Earth. People will take action too late, and Nedroj will be gone too... " she nods with me in sad understanding. "Which is why," I continue " we need people who are going to spread awareness. And... I think it should be the twins..."
She backs up. "They are just kids! You can't expect them to go around giving speeches to convince people!"
"That's exactly the point!" I say, "People will listen to their story and since they're kids, people will find out the importance of saving Nedroj! They are going to see the negative impacts of climate change and how it is so important that even CHILDREN are rallying against it!"
"I don't know Zyla.. I mean.." she says.
"Look, I'm not saying they're going to be the only ones, but they can be a part of it. They've already spoken in school, how hard is it going to be somewhere else, not to mention we'll be with them at all times." I say trying to convince her.
She slowly nods. "I guess it won't be bad to try. But keep in mind, this shouldn't affect their studies or anything else. And only IF they are willing."
I nod. "Of course."
We go back outside and unsurprisingly, it isn't hard to convince them. They agree at once. They've always been willing to help out with the climate.
-------------------
Over the next few years we organize rallies, speeches and much more. The twins have been doing their job better than we ever expected them too, and people's protests are growing fewer by the day.
If things keep going this way, maybe all hope isn't lost. Just maybe..
