Somehow You'll Come Home

Thalia was crouched down inside a dark cave. The air was ink black, and she could barely see a thing. What she could see though, was a pair of sea green eyes staring back at her. The eyes went lopsided, and she assumed the person they belonged to was tilting their head to the side. She knew those eyes from somewhere.

"Hey, Thals."

"Percy? Oh thank gods, you're okay!" She ran up to him, but went straight through throwing him into a coughing fit.

"I'm fine. But you, you're in a dream. Listen to me, don't look for me. You're safer without knowing where I am." His voice sounded pained, and Thalia stepped back. Why wouldn't he want them to find him? They needed him to lead them in the war. "Just keep reading the letters I send you. Look closely at them, you'll find some clues. I'll lead you to me when I'm ready. Go back and tell the others," his voice started to grow quiet and green eyes were starting to close.

"Percy, wait! What's going on with Annabeth? Why are you hiding? Why can't we come find you?" By the time all of Thalia's questions had left her lips, the eyes were gone and she was stained with a cold sweat, sat upright in her bed, a sheet of paper floating delicately through the air.

Thalia,

Please, don't look for me. Go back to camp. Keep fighting, train the younger demigods. They need you.

Percy

A bleary eyed Clarisse came up behind her, and upon seeing the note, kicked Piper. "Ow," Piper moaned. "What was that for?"

Piper got up to stand on the left side of Thalia. "That's not from Percy," she muttered.

"Of course it's from the punk," Clarisse said. "It's his handwriting and his signature."

"No," Thalia murmered. "Piper is right. It isn't from him. I had a dream. He did say don't look for him, but he would never say to train the younger demigods. He would want them as far out of the way as possible. Besides, he seemed injured. Or sick. He said to keep waiting for letters that he sends and to look closely for clues. They should lead us to him eventually."

Piper cocked her head to the side. "Why would he leave us clues if he's hiding from Annabeth? She's a genius, and if she got a hold of any of the letters she would definitely get the clues before we do."

The two girls nodded in agreement before falling into a silence. Thalia assumed that Piper and Clarisse were coming to the same conclusion: someone was trying to keep them from Percy. And if Percy were here, he would probably trick whoever, or whatever it was into thinking they were going along with it. A few years ago, he probably wouldn't have done that. But the war had changed her seaweed brained cousin. He was smart, tactical. Everything a leader should be and more. They needed him to fight. It was the only way to beat Gaea.

Sure, they did have her, Jason, and Nico. She supposed they could call on the Romans, not that that would end well for any of them, but if they had Percy they might actually be able to win this thing. Percy was the strongest out of all of them. He might try to deny it, and Thalia would never admit to even thinking this, buthe was stronger than the other children of the big three combined. He had broken some sort of seal none of them knew they had on his powers. Annabeth had told Thalia about the scene with Akhyls, and how Percy had choked her with her own poison. There's no way the little kid that had brought back the golden fleece could do that.

"Come on, let's get back to camp," Thalia announced, wiping the sleep from her eyes and slinging her bow over her shoulder. "It's going to be a long two days."

Just as she finished her sentence, a twig snapped in the forest.

Hey. This note is especially for the new campers. Counselors, if you haven't been showing my letters to the rest of the camp, please do that now. Read this note aloud to everyone.

It's time you know how this war started and what role we're playing in it now, why you haven't seen your parents, and why I'm not there explaining this all to you myself. This is going to be very confusing, but try to follow along.

I'm just going to assume you know everything up until my sixteenth birthday. I think it was about November, I'm still not really sure, but around November I went missing. Hera had kidnapped me to play a part in uniting the Greeks and Romans. I'm not going into depth on that either, but it is important. Ask Jason if you want to know more on that. So, eventually I showed up at Camp Jupiter, I went on a quest with two other Romans to free death, came back to Camp Jupiter, saved them, was raised to the position of praetor, and then the Argo 2 came.

A word about the Argo 2. Freaking awesome. Huge battleship, perfect for the quest seven of us were going to go on. The whole reason Hera had kidnapped me in the first place. To complete the prophecy of Seven.

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call, that was Annabeth, Piper, Hazel, Leo, Frank, Jason and I

To storm or fire the world must fall,we all thought the world meant the actual world, but it was really Gaea. The storm was Jason and the fire was Leo

An oath to keep with a final breath, this is pretty obvious. Someone swears an oath and they fulfill it with their final breath. Talk to Leo about that.

And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death. Again, we all thought this meant Greeks and Romans. But, when Annabeth and I escaped Tartarus, we had a little help. The titan Iapetus, and a giant named Damasen. Before any of you start yelling out that I'm a traitor, they were good. Iapetus protected us and Damasen saved my life.

Anyway, the Agro 2 had finally made it to Greece, after a long journey. We were walking to our imminent death, but that was the moment I felt most at peace. There was no way that another war could happen after this, and if I did die, at least I would be at peace now. Little did I know, that I was so far from wrong on so many levels.

Gaea was raised, I'm still a bit unclear how. None of us had spilled blood anywhere in Greece. I was using my powers to keep it off the ground. I might have gotten a bit distracted somewhere and let a drop spill. That's the more likely scenario if you weren't there. There's a few theories, and I'm not saying any one of them is true. One says that Annabeth had taken a jar of my blood and sneaked off to dump it somewhere. I don't think that's true. As bad as it is, I'm still in love with her. It doesn't really matter though. I'll do anything I need to do to protect camp.

Sorry, I got a little off track there. So, somehow, blood was spilled on the ground, Gaea rose, and the battle started. To be honest, it was a huge blur and I don't want to tell the kids the details of it anyway. We lost that battle, and we've been fighting ever since.

Her armies are getting stronger. We're getting weaker. I'm working on something right now, and I have to do it alone. I'll let you know eventually.

Stay strong,

Percy Jackson
