(Y/N's POV)

I finally reached 100 percent on the translator program and right away, I could read the signs, posters, screens, and stuff like that. I'll have to see the writing part soon if I can find some paper and a pen or something, but the main thing I wanted to see is if I can talk to anyone who could understand me. I went to see if I could go to a convenience store or a fast food chain and pretend to order something and once I could understand them, I could tell them that I am broke and can't pay for it and quickly excuse myself. Thats sounds like a plan and after that...I don't know what's next for me, I don't know anyone here in this world nor do I belong here and even if I did, I am super broke.

Y/N's mind- Maybe if I can, I'll find a way back to Mementos and follow up on Jose's opportunity he said earlier. I wonder what he meant by that?

I continued to walk down the street heading toward a place called Big Bang Burger, a strange name for sure, and wondered if it took the place of a burger king back home. Maybe...who knows? But then, all of a sudden...

"STOP!! THIEF!!!"

I heard shouting and it came from behind me, I quickly turned around to see a man running like hell, holding on to some bookbag or whatever and looked crazy. He was running through a crowd who quickly got out of the way, I was right in the middle of his path and had to make a quick decision, I got out of the way too but since I knew it was a thief running with someone's stuff, I think I should do something about it so when the man got close to me, I quickly extended my leg to trip him and he didn't even see it coming too. 

"AHH!!"

He fell face first on the ground and the bag fell to his side which I grabbed to give it to its rightful owner. The crowd around us clapped and cheered at me which felt nice not gonna lie but the man was another story, he looked at me with anger but I didn't give a shit, he deserved it for stealing in the first place and if tries to lay hands, I know a good spot in the body to hit to defend myself. The man was about to say something but then a woman showed up and punched him in the back of the head.

*POW!*

*Pant Pant*

"That's what you get, get out of here!"

The man got up and ran off without a second look or word, and the crowd was back to normal and it was just me and the woman.

"Hey young man, did you do that? Cause him to trip?"

Y/N- Yeah, I did. I couldn't let him get away with crime and whatnot, anyway here's your bag.

I gave her the bag, looked inside to see if anything was taken, and she looked at me with a warm smile.

"Thank you so much for your help, not many would do what you did so I truly appreciate that."

Y/N- It's no trouble at all, well have a nice day, and stay safe.

I turned around to head on my way thinking about what just happened but also I realized that when I talked to that woman, she understood me clearly so that meant I could talk to other people with no worry, maybe no need to go to that burger place.

Y/N's mind- But I'm so hungry and have no money to buy anything food, this sucks.

"Wait! Hold on there!"

I faced her again to see what she wanted.

Y/N-Hmm?

"I can't just let you go without being rewarded for your help, it's the least I can do."

Well, this is an all of a sudden offer of hers but now that I think about it, this came at the right time.

*Stomach rumbling*

I am starving and have no way to buy anything right now so...

Y/N- Actually, there's one thing that comes to mind.

"Yes?"

Y/N- I was heading to that burger place to eat something before that situation happened so I was hoping you could hook me up with some grub.

Y/N's mind- Please say yes. Please say yes.

"Oh, yes I can treat you to lunch, it would be my pleasure. Let's go."

Y/N- Sweet. Thank you miss...umm

"Kawakami. Sadayo Kawakami."

Y/N- Nice to meet you, Y/N L/N.

Sadayo- Nice to meet you too.

We entered the restaurant and I took a look at the menu, all of the options sounded good but I chose a double bacon burger with extra bacon, mayo, and cheese with a combo meal. Sadayo ordered a small regular burger with no meal and we found a seat right by the windows.

Sadayo- Again Y/N, thank you for your help, I would've been devastated if that was lost forever so I am grateful.

Y/N- Ahh, it was no trouble I'm just glad you're alright and your stuff is in your hands again. 

She smiled and nodded at me, it was kind of cute, to be honest, god sometimes the things I say in my mind. The employee got to our table with our meals and mine looked delicious and I was gonna rip this good shit into shreds.

Sadayo- Enjoy yourself Y/N. Also, I would like to get to know you a little if that's alright.

Y/N- Sure, no problem. And thank you for the food.

Sadayo- No problem.~

(No POV)

Y/N and Sadayo spent the next hour talking to one another, getting to know each other a little more. He learned that she was a high school teacher and that bag was her paperwork, supplies, and other important teacher stuff that would've been lost if not for Y/N so there was that. She also noticed that Y/N was not from this country and asked what he was doing in Japan, he had to come up with a quick story, and the one he came up with was that he was on vacation and chose Japan as his main destination. When asked why he went alone, he said that his parents permitted him to go and gave him "enough" money to cover his expenses which was a lie. Sadayo was skeptical but chose not to question him further cause she didn't want to scare him away, he had caught her attention and already enjoyed his company. 

Sadayo's mind- I think we may get along just fine Y/N.

Some more time passed and the two decided to leave the restaurant, Y/N said bye to her one last time before making his way. Sadayo didn't have the chance to tell him if they wanted to meet again soon but he was far away from her. She watched him walk from a long distance and with a smile on her face, she said to herself quietly

Sadayo- We'll see each other again Y/N, I know we will.

Then she walked away with him in her mind...and remembered she had to do grade homework as well when she got home.

Y/N had wandered for two hours just looking around this new environment he was now stuck in for the time being, thinking about where he was going to sleep for the night, his money trouble, and most importantly what he was going to do to fix the ship as he remembered that it was damaged before he left. 

Y/N's mind- Could this situation get any more stressful?

Just then, he heard a notification on the switch and wondered what was being downloaded. He took the device out and turned it on to see a strange app with a red eye and a black star in the middle.

Y/N's mind- Thats strange, I don't remember downloading this at all, I never knew this was even in the switch.

He decided not to click on it and deleted the app, but when it was gone from the main screen, it downloaded itself again and fast.

Y/N- What the hell? Why won't it go away?

He tried many times to delete it but it showed up seconds later every time, eventually, he got frustrated and decided to see what this app was for.

Y/N- Well, let's see what this does.

He clicked on the app and when he did, he saw a bright flash on the screen, taking him away from the normal world. He was back to where he started but this time, he was going to meet an interesting figure that would change the course of his adventure in this universe.

(Y/N's POV)

I don't know what the hell that flash was when I clicked the app, but it happened so suddenly I had no time to react and now it looks like it took me away from where I was, Mementos. 

Y/N- Just great.

I felt my backpack move a lot, and knew it was Gardevoir wanting to be out of her Pokeball which I needed her right about now so I took the Pokeball and released her.

Gardevoir- Master! 

Y/N- Gardevoir, it looks like we're back here again. This strange app on my Switch just took me here when I clicked on it.

Gardevoir- It's going to be ok master, we'll get out of here together again and with me to protect you.

Y/N- Thanks Gardevoir, now let's go and try to find another portal-like exit.

But as soon as we were going to do that, a blue-like aura appeared out of nowhere and it looked like a cell door, a jail cell door I might add. I was cautious about who might appear from behind the door, with Gardevoir looking like she was ready for combat, which I don't blame her at all, this was getting freaky. The door opened on its own with no one exiting it, without thinking twice I slowly went closer to the door to see what was behind it.

Gardevoir- Y/N, what are you doing?

Y/N- I'm trying to see if anything is there, maybe we're meant to go through the door but who knows?

Gardevoir- I don't think it's wise to do this, please come back closer to me.

Y/N- I don't think anything will change if I stay still longer so it's better than nothing.

Gardevoir signed but heard her come closer to me as well, I felt more odd as I got closer and I swore I thought I heard a voice say...

"Come in."

I eventually got so close to the door, that I stood still for a minute having some second thoughts about this.

Y/N- You know what, maybe this wasn't a good idea after all, we should probably just...

But I felt a force behind me push me toward the entrance and I felt my body was going through a high-speed rail and all I saw was blue and other doors.

Y/N- Ahhh!!

I heard Gardevoir's voice behind me and then I heard nothing else.

Gardevoir- Y/N!!!

(Minor Timeskip)

I woke up feeling a little motion sick from that experience, I saw I was lying in a small bed with a stone wall in front of me. I got up to see that I was in a prison-like cell but when I looked at myself, I was in my clothes as normal not in a prisoner outfit or anything. 

Y/N- Where am I? Am I in trouble with someone for trespassing or something?

I looked behind me and saw a huge, nice-looking room with shiny floors, two big fancy couches with blue cushions, and a wooden desk in the middle. No one was there and was quiet for being a prison I saw around the place multiple cell doors with no one in them.

Y/N- Hello? Anyone here? Hello?

No response from that, and I don't have my backpack, or my switch with me, which is bad cause I need both to make it. 

Y/N's mind- This fucking sucks, looks like I'm stuck here for a while.

I was sitting on the bed when I heard the gate next to me open and heard a voice say...

"Welcome mysterious stranger, come to me."

Having no other option, I did what the deep yet calm voice said and exited the cell, and once out I saw a man sitting at the desk who looked creepy to me.

He was bald, grey-haired, with a long nose, wearing gloves on his hands and wearing a suit something a Victorian-era man would wear. Also, that look in his eyes and smile, creeped me out the most. 

Y/N- Uhh...Hi.

"So, you're the mysterious young boy that arrived here in a rather...flashy way"

Y/N- How do you know that?

"I happen to see everything that happens in this world and it's impossible to not see a giant hat flying in the sky and disappearing causing some chaos in its wake. I must say, I was already intrigued when I saw all of it."

Y/N- Look, If you are some kind of god or something, I didn't mean to invade your space or anything of the sort, my ship just happened to take me here and I don't know what kind of chaos you say my ship did. What happened?

"Well, It's best I show you this."

He snapped his finger and a glass mirror showed up, it showed me a playback of my ship from that day, I remembered seeing the city, not knowing what to do. While I watched, the strange man talked some more...

"While I'm not a god, I am a watcher of this world and all of its people, when your ship arrived I felt a strange power within it, a feeling I haven't felt in a very long time. In no short time, your ship began to glow and when it disappeared, it caused the city's power to go out, and let's say it was madness."

Well, he wasn't wrong about that, people were causing trouble, panicking like crazy, and some doing crimes taking advantage of no cameras and alarms. I saw enough and put the mirror down.

"It didn't last long for the power to be restored and order was back but now the people have been referring to your ship as the UFH or unidentified flying hat."

OK, I didn't expect to meet someone like him so soon but I guess here am I.

Y/N- W-who are you and what do you want with me?

"Oh, my apologies for not introducing myself so soon, you may call me Igor."

Y/N- I'm Y/N, Mr Igor.

Igor- I already know what your name is based on what your strange Persona referred to you as.

Persona? What the hell is a Persona? And the only one with me was...wait. Gardevoir!!

Y/N- Where is she?

Igor- Hmm?

Y/N- Gardevoir, she was with me before something pushed me to the door, and I lost her.

Igor- So, that's its name, you named your persona?

Y/N- I don't have any fucking clue what a persona is and whatever it is, she is not that.

Igor- Then what is she then?

Y/N- She is...

Just when I was about to tell him, I heard a portal open and came out Gardevoir, which I was glad to see again.

Gardevoir- Master Y/N, we're together again!!

She ran towards me and hugged me so hard, that I fell on the floor with her rubbing her head on my chest.

Y/N- Gardevoir I'm so glad to see you, I thought I wouldn't see you again!

Gardevoir- That won't happen, I wouldn't let it happen. 

Y/N- ...I hope to god it doesn't happen.

Igor- So, Gardevoir is it. Please to meet you.

Gardevoir- Was it you?! Was it you that caused my master and I to separate?

Igor- That wasn't my true intention, I meant for you to show up here sooner but...

Gardevoir- So it was you that caused this, for that, you must suffer.

She summed a dark energy ball and aimed it at Igor, who didn't seem to be fazed at all by what was about to happen. I don't trust Igor at all but if she does this, it may cause us more trouble than we can handle so I had to in between the two and talk Gardevoir out of this.

Y/N- Wait Gardevoir, you shouldn't do this.

Gardevoir- Why master? He is the one who caused us to separate and he most likely caused you to be back in that other world again so he must pay for causing so much trouble for you.

Y/N- I understand but this isn't the way to go, we don't much about this world, and as much as I don't like this, he may be the best source of info on the world and who knows...maybe can help.

Y/N's mind- Big maybe.

Her energy ball got smaller and looked at me with a calm yet upset look on her.

Gardevoir- Are you sure....master?

Y/N- I have no choice but violence won't get us anywhere right now, just trust me on this. Please?

She ceased her attack and stood right behind me, looking at Igor with an intense stare.

Gardevoir- I don't trust you at all, but my master wishes to know more about the world and such, I suggest you do so.

Igor only stared and smiled, this was starting to become scary for me, making me question just who he was and what he was capable of. 

Igor- I see that your "Persona" is very loyal to you Y/N, a bond that I must admit is rarely seen.

Y/N- Well, FYI Igor, she is a Pokemon, not a persona.

Igor- Pokemon?

Y/N- Yes, she is my companion who helps me battle other Pokemon and Pokemon trainers and helps me grow into the best I can be. Yes, she is not from this world but it doesn't matter, she is a pal to me and whatever happens, won't change that.

Igor looked like he was in his thoughts, while Gardevoir looked at me with a loving look on her face which made me feel more at ease since I still didn't know what Igor wanted with me.

Igor- Hmm...I think I see potential in you Y/N, yes.

Y/N- What do you mean by that?

Igor- All I can say right now is that your "Pokemon" can lead you where you want to be, you wish to go back home right?

Y/N- I do, but my ship is damaged, and have no clue where to look or do.

Igor- I may have a clue for you that may help, there have been these moons of some kind appearing in Mementos, and have no clue what they are, maybe they have something to do with your ship?

Moons. Maybe he's talking about the power moons that power the Odyssey, Pauline showed me one before we went flying, I think a drawing of one was inside the ship I have seen a couple of times during my travels.

Y/N- Something like that, where do I look?

Igor- That will be up to you to find them but I will give you a tool to at least help you in some capacity soon enough.

Great, he claims to be a watcher of this world or whatever and won't even tell me where they are in pinpoint terms.

Igor- I think I have learned a lot from this interaction and would love to learn more about you and your Pokemon, but I think it's time for you to return and get yourself settled in. Don't worry, this won't be the last time we meet, I'll let you know when that time will come. 

Y/N's mind- I won't be happy to see you but if you help me like you say you would then oh well, I have to deal with you.

Y/N- Ok, well. Bye for now I guess and, wait a minute where's my stuff?

Igor- Oh yes, I have them safely secure with me here, here you go.

My backpack and switch appeared on one of the couches, I went to retrieve them back and felt prepared again, sort of.

Y/N- Thanks, and also what is the app thing on my switch, did you do this?

Igor- This? Oh yes, it allows you to come and go to the real world and Mementos too. Over time, it can do additional things but I also leave that for you to discover.

Y/N- Ok, well let's get out of here Gardevoir.

Gardevoir- I agree master.

I turned the switch to click on the app again and the blue door from before showed up and it opened. 

Igor- Farewell for now Y/N.

I only waved back and entered inside before the door closed behind me, and sure enough, I was back in the normal world in some kind of back alleyway.

Y/N- Well we're back again and it's nighttime, which is just great. I don't have a place to stay for the night, it looks like I need to look for cardboard. Help me find some, and maybe find some large ones while you're at it.

Gardevoir- Hold on Y/N I won't have you sleep in the street like a dirty Rattata.

Y/N- Well, I don't have any money to rent a motel since my currency is from the Galar region and I know they won't accept this. Unless I get some miracle that is.

Then, Out of nowhere, I heard some commotion from my left side and went to see what that was about, as I made my way closer to the source I heard talking and some yelling.

"Oh *Hicup* come on. I wasn't causing  a r-ruckus!"

"Ma'am, you were asking our patrons if they wanted more drinks, and when they refused you got too close. I'm going to ask you to never come back again. Or the police will be called. Good night"

"Well, *Hicup* Fine! I-I'll find...somewhere else too....drink.

I peeked trying to see what happened and couldn't see all that well in the darkness of where I was but I could tell it was a woman carrying a bottle of beer of some kind. I didn't want to get involved in this so I snuck away from the scene.

*CRUNCH!!*

Y/N's mind- SHIT!!

"H-hey! Who's there?

I held my breath and stood very still and hoped the woman wouldn't come in my direction but then I looked over to Gardevoir and realized she was out in the open I tried to get her Pokevball out to hide her but then I felt a hand grabbed my back shirt collar.

Y/N- Wahh!

"W-what are you doing over there kid? *Hicup*"

I turned my head around to see the woman closer.

She had short hair, a black graphic shirt, glasses by her head, and looked drunk as hell.

Y/N- Uhh... no reason?

"Really? Are you sure?

I also realized that she hadn't seen Gardevoir yet and when I went to see if she was there, she was gone. Ok, thank god she hid before this woman saw her, that wouldn't go well. 

Y/N- OK, I was walking over there to take a shortcut. I didn't hear anything at all, promise.

She looked at me with eyes that were kinda red and looking all over the place.

"OK, I believe you. Say, wanna get a *Hicup* drink with me"

Y/N- No, I'm not old enough to drink.

"Oh, a young minor, shit well I got nothing going tonight it looks like."

Y/N- Maybe you don't, well can you let me go? I need to go before it gets super late.

"Late. I-I need to get home, but I'm so....*Hicup* drunk right now."

She didn't need to say that twice, she was barely standing straight and looked like she was about to fall at any moment. I was thinking about what to do now, on the one hand, this isn't my issue to deal with but I couldn't in my conscience leave her like this by herself, she could get hurt or be taken advantage of and I would see extremely guilty if that were to happen cause I left her alone. I signed and lent her my hand.

Y/N- Do you...want me to take you home? I can't just leave you here like this, you know.

She gave me a wide smile and nodded cheerfully.

"That...*Hicup* would be very kind of you young man. Thank you."

Y/N- Don't mention it, come on let's go.

She took my hand and I began to lead her into the main streets, she kept whispering slurred words and her head going side to side slowly. Random people were giving us strange looks, I felt embarrassed but continued, giving nervous smiles to those who saw us.

"Master Y/N? Master?"

I heard Gardevoir's voice, I turned to see that she was beside me but to my surprise, no one walking by us saw her or even turned their heads.

Y/N- Gardevoir? How are you doing this?

Gardevoir- I'm not entirely sure but when that human woman grabbed you, I may have accidentally activated an ability to make myself invisible but I can change who can see me and I chose you to see me. 

Is Gardevoir also gaining new abilities not part of Pokemon? I wonder what else is changing about her?

Gardevoir- Speaking of which, do you want me to get rid of this human woman for having the audacity to touch you the way she did?

The fact she said that in a causally dark tone but with a cold look on her is something I'm worried about.

Y/N- W-What?! No, there's no need for that, she's drunk and doesn't know what she's doing at the moment which is why I'm taking her home. 

Gardevoir- But Y/N...

"W-who are you talking to?"

Shit, I must've been talking aloud and forgot she was there for a split second.

Y/N- N-no one, just talking to myself and whatnot, a force of habit of mine.

"Al *Hicup* right then. What's your name, kind boy?

Y/N- Y/N.

"Ohya...Ichiko"

Y/N- Nice to meet you, now where's your home Ohya?

Ohya- Keep heading *Hicup* in this direction.

Y/N's mind- This may take a while.

(Timeskip)

After many direction missteps, more drunken whispers, and many looks later, we made it to an apartment complex that she lived in, we took the elevator to the fourth floor and headed towards the middle of the hallway to room 405. 

Y/N- We made it.

Ohya- Hoorah! Let me get my keys here.

She got her door keys but dropped them as soon she got closer to the lock.

Ohya- Whoops, excuse me.

She picked them up and unlocked the door, we went inside and the place didn't look half-bad, except for the handful of empty alcohol bottles and a strange smell of perfume and beer, a strangely weird but lowkey calm vibe.

Ohya- Thanks for this Y/N, I owe you one.

Y/N- No problem, have a nice...

She crashed down her couch and fell asleep fast.

Y/N- Night.

  I went to leave the place but then I remembered that I still didn't have a place to sleep for the night and I may have to cash in a favor from Ohya already. I closed the door, locked it, and went up to Ohya and see if she would let me crash here.

Y/N- Hey...Ohya.

She didn't say any words, only grunts.

Y/N- I sorta of don't have any place to go for now, and I was hoping you could let me crash here, at least for tonight, I'll be gone by morning.

She only nodded which was good for me cause I would've been fucked otherwise.

Y/N- Thank you so much, do you have any place I can sleep?

Ohya- Corner over there, there is a mat and... pillow. Goodnight.~

She went into a deep sleep and I was left to see what she meant by the corner of the apartment, I walked over to where some laundry room was and saw by the left side, there was a white puffy mat and a pillow.

Y/N- Oh, that's what she meant. Ok, that works for me.

I took both of them and laid the mat down by the living room, put the pillow down, and laid my back on it. Then, out of nowhere, Gardevoir appeared in front of me, looking down. 

Gardevoir- I hope you don't intend on interacting with this woman any more than you have to Y/N.

Y/N- I don't know, yeah I can tell she has some problems but I don't know about going that far. Who knows if we'll even see her again, maybe we will or we won't.

Gardevoir- I find it possible with both options but be careful around her still, I have an awful feeling of her corrupting you with her unpure soul. I won't allow her to do so.

Y/N- Gardevoir, I have been through some shit in other worlds before we met and that hasn't broken me, so I am not worried about her for the most, now her drunkness though. Yeah, I can already tell I won't drink when I grow up.

Gardevoir- OK master, I trust you are a strong and kind soul who won't ever change, staying the way you are.

Y/N- You bet. Now....*yawn* goodnight, see you in the morning.

Gardevoir- Have a good night Master, sweet dreams.~

She then laid down next to me with her arms surrounding me, pulling me closer to her.

Y/N's mind- This is a strange first day here in this new world. I wonder what else is next for me here?
