Chapter 6
Three days into Ironhide at the hospital, Ironhide was bored, and annoyed.
"Baby, it's just for a few more days. I know you want out of here, I would too." Will stated.
"I hate being stuck in one place. It makes me feel like I'm in a mental asylum." Ironhide snorted.
"I know, baby. Just for a little while longer, okay?" Will asked.
"Fine." Ironhide huffed. He saw his grandparents walk into his room, a yellow envelope in Rose's hands.
"Ryan, how are you feeling?" Marcus asked.
"Better a bit. I just want this patch off my eye, and I wanna get out of this place." Ironhide replied. His grandparents chuckled.
"I know, Ry, just gotta stay here for a little while longer. As for the patch on your eye, you have to wear that for a few months." Marcus smiled. Ironhide frowned at that.
"And.. Dad?" Ironhide asked, still pretty upset. He had hoped his father would've come to his senses and visit, but nope.
"Police are searching for him." Rose stated. Ironhide stayed quiet, unhappy.
"Ryan, we have a question." Marcus stated.
"What is it?" Ironhide asked.
"Well, due to what's going to happen to your father, and since your mother's not in the picture, we were wondering if you'd like it if we adopted you. You'd have a home you already know, freedom, no more abuse. What do you say?" Marcus asked.
"Yes!" Ironhide replied. As he signed his name on some lines on the adoption papers, he finally felt happy. Like he belonged.
A few days later, he was discharged from the hospital, but now all he wanted to do was sleep, and he was still in some serious pain, but that was to be expected. As Ironhide laid down in his new room, he groaned as he heard someone come in. It was Will.
"Hey, baby. How ya feeling?" He asked. Ironhide glared at him, but it didn't have his usual death-like vibe to it. Ironhide groaned as Will helped him properly lay down. "You wanna stay in here by yourself, or do you want some company?" Will asked.
Ironhide pointed to Will and then the bed, implying he wanted Will to stay with him. Luckily, Will understood what he wanted, and laid down beside him. Ironhide held Will in his arms, curling up next to him. As Will laid beside him, he noticed that Ironhide was soon passed out.
"Looks like the pain meds are kicking in." He mused, softly. He placed a kiss on Ironhide's head, watching the young boy twitch a little. Will felt so happy, yet so bad for his boyfriend. As Ironhide peacefully slept, he felt relaxed, much more relaxed. He was happy to finally be out of the hospital.
Will soon fell asleep too, he had barely slept the entire time Ironhide was in the hospital. Plus, it was getting late out. He messaged his aunt and uncle, telling him he was spending a few nights with his boyfriend, just so they knew where he was.
The next morning, Will woke up, and yawned. He looked beside him and saw Ironhide, still sound asleep. Will ran his fingers through Ironhide's raven black hair, smiling gently at him. Ironhide woke up with a small whiny huff.
"Morning, 'Hide. Let's get that patch changed, and get you fed." Will stated. Ironhide snorted, but let Will change his eye patch, despite it hurting like a bitch. When it came to eating though, Ironhide just poked and prodded at his breakfast.
"Aren't you hungry, Ryan?" Marcus asked.
"Hurts..." Ironhide murmured.
"I know, darling, but you just have to at least eat or drink a little bit." Rose stated, rubbing Ironhide's shoulder. Ironhide winced, his body tensing up at the touch. Rose smiled gently at her grandson, happy to have adopted him, but not so happy about the abuse he endured. Ironhide grumbled something, but he drank a little bit of his milk.
"You can go back to bed if you want, hon. We have nothing to do today, but your friends do wanna come visit if that's okay." Rose stated. Ironhide nodded, that was fine, but he couldn't help it if he would fall asleep. A few hours later, Ironhide's and Will's friends were all at Ironhide's grandparents home.
"Hey, baby. The others are here." Will stated. Ironhide walked out, but didn't make eye contact.
"How's he holdin' up?" Jazz asked.
"He's happy to be out of the hospital, but he's ashamed. He blames himself for his father beating him and getting thrown in jail. Just got a call not long ago. He's been arrested." Will explained.
"Ironhide, may I see your face?" Ratchet asked. Ironhide kept his face away from everyone.
"Baby, if you want, you can go back to your room." Will stated, softly.
"Pain meds still in his system?" Epps asked.
"No, but he's keeping himself withdrawn. Like I said, he's ashamed." Will sighed. Ironhide stayed put, it was lunch time. He poked and prodded at his food, just like he did at breakfast.
"Please try to eat some mashed potatoes." Will stated. Ironhide looked at him, and Will's heart broke. Ironhide looked at him, pain clearly seen in his eyes. "Baby, it'll be okay." Will stated.
"You look like you wanna cry, 'Hide." Wheeljack frowned.
"I don't cry. Even if I really want or need to. I can't cry, crying equals weakness, and I'm the tough guy apparently. I'll just suck it up, like I do every other time." Ironhide stated, snappishly. That night, Ironhide laid in his bed, just thinking while his TV played in the background.
