Facade

In 1 week, I was able to hunt and never miss a mark. I hunted as often as I wanted and felt much better overall. I was resting on the couch for an hour or so. I learned along with Tristan my powers. It wasn't anything like mind reading or teleportation. I had more emotionally manipulative powers although I felt bad for using them when we got into an argument.

Tristan immediately could tell I had influenced him but didn't make me feel bad about it as I wasn't 100% aware I was using it to ease our argument. In fact, he only seemed to love me more. I avoided his affection some days. Why that was, I wasn't sure.

I was certain I loved him and I think I'd stay with him. Was I scared?... maybe. He was royalty and I didn't know what it was to rule anything or be in charge. I couldn't help but feel imposter-ish. My body was shoved over. I opened my eyes in annoyance. Tristan's arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me back into his arms. Annoying but you couldn't not love him. I leaned back into his body and sighed, closing my eyes again.

He loved holding me which I wasn't a fan of, but it was fine with me. He kissed my ear and leaned his head into the crook of my neck. " Are you alright?" I looked to the side and I nodded. He unwrapped his arms from my waist and they wrapped around my shoulders. I held his arms there. I felt the slick warmth of his tongue against my earlobe. I didn't exactly like it, but I didn't want him to stop either.

He had definitely felt more comfortable around me because otherwise he would never do this especially without me having to say it. He harshly bit into my ear and I gasped. I ripped open the skin of his arm in frustration. He winced in shock.

" That was another level of annoying, Tristan. I'm gonna go rest, okay? And... Sorry about that, by the way. I didn't mean to dig that deep." I whispered wincing, standing up. I turned to look at him and was immediately confused. He was insanely flushed, gently biting his lip. If he wasn't already lovestruck, he definitely was now. I literally almost tore his arm to shreds and he was TURNED ON. What am I even supposed to do? If he liked it when I got slightly violent than I had no real leverage.

He loved me despite me low-key being a vicious unforgiving bitch, which was impressive. " Yeah, that was weird that I liked that, but wow." I smiled and turned around. I walked up to my room. I still wasn't sure I would move into his bedroom anytime soon. He was lovestruck and could get a tiny bit touchy.

He got under my skin. And in a good way but sometimes I wanted to hurt him because I knew he would still love me. And that bothered me deeply. I was a pretty bad person on the inside and I was wrong for feeling like this. I don't have to love him but I would feel so bad if I hurt him. Rest. I sighed and adjust the pillow under my head. For a moment there was quiet. No birds. Leaves falling or branches cracking. Just a nice and sweet silence. I don't think I liked anything more than silence. Or at least peace, maybe. THUD
I looked up, annoyed. Why? What did I- I stared wide eyes at the metal arrow with a sharp wooden tip lodged into the wall in front of me. I quickly crawled out of bed and crawled out of my room. I pushed open Tristan's door. He was... Naked, and clearly dressing.

" Now, I would ask why you crawled into my bedroom, literally, while I'm still dressing but I don't think I want to know why." He was correct. He didn't. I blushed but moved closer to him. He looked down at me, clearly concerned. " Babe, there's someone... They shot into my room with a wooden tipped arrow. I had to slide off my bed and crawl to get to you." His eyes lingered on a pair of dark jeans before he grabbed them. He walked over to his closet and took off a pastel pink sweater. He pulled it on and pulled it down. I narrowed my eyes up at him " Is that yours?" He narrowed his eyes back at me " Who else's?" I let it go. He looked good in it anyway. Hotter, even.

He ruffled his semi-wavy hair and looked at me. " That right there, dove, is an assassin. Now, I've been standing not that far from the window, so they aren't after me. They're after you." My eyes widened and a wave of instincts hit me. I was ready to fight them myself if I had to " Dove you won't get anywhere near them without you erupting in ashes. Maybe assassin sounds... Beatable. These are mercenaries. Vampire mercenaries. Call your father, as I'm certain my father sent them to kill you and you need all the protection you can get." I speed dialed my dad while curled up on the floor.

" Katelyn, what's wrong?" My father asked. " Someone shot a wood-tipped arrow at me through my bedroom window... Hello?" The line had disconnected. I looked up at Tristan, unsure and maybe a little afraid " Your father's on his way. I also should have mentioned that my father disapproved of me trying to even see anyone that wasn't hand-picked by himself. He thinks a lot of things about you that are mostly untrue but I don't care. He found me which means we now have 2 options." He looked down at me grimly.

I stayed floor level but I scooted closer to his leg and leaned into it. He was clearly unsure of how to respond to me but right now I was angry and maybe scared too. He knelt down to my level and softly kissed my face. " I'm a little uncertain too. I'm also not sure why my dad wants to kill you. Stay here. Just in case, I'm gonna pack a bag for you." My face was hot and I was clearly angry. His father clearly wasn't a fan of me. I didn't want-Brrrt-- BRRTT. I picked up my phone. " Katelyn, find Tristan and put him on the phone. NOW." I quickly crawled to my room. THUD. Shit!

I crawled into my bedroom. I gave Tristan the phone. He tossed me the bag, which wasn't really heavy but had most of my clothes in it. Tristan was silent. I couldn't make out much except " Cherry " He was still silent and he was clearly paler. I touched the tip of his fingers and pulled his hand. He nodded and ended the call. He handed me my phone and sighed. " Tristan what is it?" His eyes met my own and they were grim and much darker than they naturally were. Not mockingly cold. Scarily cold.

He hesitated " Kaity... We have to leave. Now. Follow my instructions or we could both get killed." I was absolutely shocked at how grim this had gotten. I was confused but... I trusted him with my life. I nodded. I tucked my phone into the bag.

The car moved quickly with the passenger opened. I threw the bag in and ran in, closing the door. The dark redheaded woman with honey eyes kept her eyes strictly on the road and drove. My heart raced, fear coursing through me. Watching my father and Tristan hold them off while I was hiding made me feel helpless.

Bullets and arrows alike hit the car door while Cherry drove away with me. We weren't safe but we weren't being followed. At least for now. I fixed myself in the back seat and I positioned my bag on the floor. I pushed my hair back and tied it. There were stretches and stretches of trees and Cherry drove fast so thsy were all a blur.

" Where are we going?" I asked quietly. There was a stretch of silence " I can't tell you that." I nodded. Probably for privacy reasons. It was whatever " Is Tristan coming?"

She looked at me through the mirror
" Look closely at the forest line. " I looked to the right and saw nothing. But I looked to the left and saw Tristan. He was easily faster than the car but we had about a mile head start. I smiled, almost crying. My smile dropped.

I rummaged through my bag and grabbed my phone. I waited for the call to go through, but it didn't. I set the phone down and tried to calm myself or I might make an outburst. I didn't want that. Not now. I lie back on the seat and tried to rest. Even a little would help because I was so close to just blowing a fuse. I tried a second time. " Hey, Katelyn- " " Dad, what's going on? Is everything alright? Are you okay?"

" Yes. I'm fine. Please just listen to Cherry and Tristan. They'll get you onto a plane and you must follow them." The line was silent for a moment.

I wanted to cry " Are you coming with us?" I asked, sniffing.

" No. Be safe. I love you." The line went dead.

Cherry didn't need to ask to know either.

So I felt bad because the 2nd remake was really good. There isn't much context behind this chapter but just read. Also note that I misspell Katelyn very often because other spellings look attractive:

" Go away." I whispered. My body ached in pain. Everywhere. My neck. I couldn't move. I hid under the blanket. I didn't want to see either of them.

" Kaitlyn, listen to me."

" Tristan, stop." I moaned painfully. They both stepped back, worried at what might happen. My body went slightly limp against the bed. I sighed, breathing in and out, slowly as to not hyper ventilate. I stopped and sighed.

" Kately-"

" Listen, I don't want to talk to you right now."

" Okay than, you brat. I'm tired of my brother thinking and doing insane things because of your scrawny ass. Now get up and let's talk." She growled aggressively. I gently sat up, sore everywhere, as I previously mentioned. I glared at Blaire. She glared back at me with the same icy stare. Tristan sat next to me, gently settling on his bed.

" How have things been?" I didn't answer him. I looked at the dark purple bruise on my wrist and struggled to turn it over. I felt at my neck, where my cut lie, bandaged. It hurt worse than it probably looked. Not to mention my dying thirst for any kind of blood.

" Katelyn..." He whispered. ..

" What more can you take from me?" I snapped tearfully. " My heart. My purity. My sanity. They're all gone, Tristan. You threw what we had away. You have no right to crawl back to me and beg for my love and trust back, it isn't fair at all." I whispered, crying. He wrapped his hands around my waist, as I cried, and lie his head on the good side of my neck.

I tried to push him off and hurt him. But it took everything in me not to turn and beg for him to love me again. He held me as I shed tears for someone I shouldn't even love anymore.
