Prolouge part 2
Sherlene decided to show the boys the garden as she loved reading.
"This place is amazing. I can't believe you spend your summers here." Louis said.
"I know, but I mainly like visiting to see Adelphia. We always have a good time." Sherlene said as she carried some books to a porch swing. William looked at them.
"Oliver Twist, Pamela, books by Edgar Allen Poe, huh?"
"Yeah, I love these kinds of books, especially about mystery. My father is a detective with Scotland Yard. Though other girls my age think I'm weird for reading these books rather than fairy tales. Like they think I should let a man take care of me. But Adelphia never married and she became a successful actress. I want to prove I can be as successful as her by being the first female detective, even if I have to take over my family title one day.....Ah! Sorry if I rambled there..." Sherlene blushed in embarrassment.
"Not at all. I believe it is impressive, and you said you have a passion for mysteries." Louis said.
"Huh?"
"Like Louis said, mysteries are something you like, so you should pursue it." Albert adds.
"And you said Adelphia accomplished a lot without getting married. If she had the will to do it, we think you do as well." William nodded.
Sherlene was amazed. Most people thought she was being silly or crazy when she said she wanted to be a detective, but these boys believed her and did not make fun of her dream.
"Thank you guys." She smiled brightly, unknown to her the boys all had a blush on their faces.
As they chatted, the boys learned more about Sherlene.
She loved the color blue, liked irises, her favorite tea was citrus and honey. Her favorite dessert was macarons, her favorite scent was peaches and vanilla, and she liked to play the violin.
Since the boys would only be in France for a week, they would be around her all the time.
---------------
The next day, Sherlene was in the garden with her instructor who was giving her fencing and sword lessons.
Sherlene ducked and avoided attacks and disarmed her opponent.
"Great job Lady Sherlene. Quite an improvement." Her teacher said.
"Thanks."
"That was impressive." She heard William's voice.
He, Albert, and Louis arrived 10 minutes ago, and they did not know Sherlene practiced sword fencing.
And she was graceful with a sword.
Whether the boys knew it or not, they were becoming infatuated with Sherlene.
