[ 30 ] Jealous Husband 2.0

*

Jongin doesn't really know himself either, but ever since Kyungsoo said that, it has been bothering him for quite a while now.

"I think I have a crush on Chanyeol now."

"I said, I have a crush on Park Chanyeol."

Why would Kyungsoo say that to him? Does Kyungsoo want to tease him and make fun of him?

"Good morning, what can I get you for today?"

"One cup of americano, please."

Honestly, Jongin is not really a jealous-type of person to begin with, not that he has someone to get jealous of anyway. He doesn't even remember the last time he felt this kind of emotion. It's just that, hearing that his husband has taken an interest in someone that is not him, kind of flicked a switch inside his head.

Like, he becomes unnecessary and unconsciously wary of Kyungsoo's actions towards Chanyeol, which he's never done before, because those two are just close friends since high school. Chanyeol is devoted to Baekhyun he could die for him, plus Chanyeol definitely thinks of Kyungsoo as his brother. Jongin's aware of that, and he knows all too well this kind of reasoning doesn't make any sense, so why is he acting like a jealous husband now? This is very unlike him.

"Jongin! The orders are piling up!"

"Yes, yes, I'm taking them already!"

Is he becoming petty now that he's getting older? He's been with Kyungsoo for what, a decade already? So why is he getting jealous over a simple crush which might or might not be actually legit? Just because his husband said those alarming words? That Kyungsoo has a fucking crush on Chanyeol, Kyungsoo's ideal type!?

"Hey, Jongin! Take this order to table number ten. The customers are waiting!"

Shit. Why is he even having a dramatic monologue like this in the middle of work anyway?

"Yes, Sir!"

He must've gone batshit crazy. It's ridiculously stupid, but he can't help thinking this way.

What if he's not enough for Kyungsoo? What if Kyungsoo's just putting up with him because they've been together for so long, that Kyungsoo is just staying with him because of their marriage?

What if Kyungsoo eventually falls in love with Chanyeol?

They're in a poly relationship, so it can be possible, right? That Kyungsoo would want---Jongin can't even bear himself to think about it---a SECOND husband.

Fuck. What is he supposed to do if that happens? A threesome with Chanyeol? That's gonna be so fucking awkward that the imagery is making him cringe!

"Jongin! You forgot to bring the coffee!"

"Oh, I'm sorry. Coming right up!"

It's all Kyungsoo's fault. Whether his husband was just bluffing or not, Kyungsoo should've never said that. Now his thoughts are getting all messy and jumbled up that his mind can't stay focused.

"Here's your card. Thanks for your purchase. Next customer, please."

"One chai latte, two green tea crème frappuccino, three irish cream cold brew, and four iced coconut milk mocha macchiato for me."

"I'm sorry, but could you repeat your orders a little bit slower?"

That reminds Jongin, he will never forget the smug smirk on Kyungsoo's face and the airy laughs Kyungsoo throws whenever he is telling him to stay away from Chanyeol. Kyungsoo isn't even taking him seriously when he's saying he's getting jealous, and it sucks!

"You're jealous? Okay, nice. Now go to work."

"I mean it! My heart is hurting! You better not talk to Chanyeol while I'm gone!"

"Yeah, yeah. fine. I'm not gonna look at him nor talk to him anymore. Now go."

"Promise me first!"

"I promise."

But when Jongin comes home, he's finding Kyungsoo normally interacting with Chanyeol like how he normally does. It's really annoying. He thinks he's the strange one here, just because he's behaving stupidly over Kyungsoo's nonsensical crush.

That feeling of feeling something he's not supposed to feel? Yeah, that's all what he's feeling right now. Anxiety. Jealousy. Overthinking. Insecurity. Childishness. Paranoia. Overreaction. It's complicated.

"Hey, Jongin. Your shift ends now. Good work."

"Yeah. Same to you. I'll clock out later."

The reason why he's been sort of, well, kind of, spying Kyungsoo lately in the corner of his eyes, eavesdropping, and following him, wherever and whenever he goes.

Just like what happened yesterday. Baekhyun was supposed to come with Kyungsoo to the mall to buy some accessories for their new car, but Baekhyun wasn't feeling well (because of his back pain) so Chanyeol (the culprit for that back pain) volunteered to go with Kyungsoo instead.

The fuck are you creeping like an idiot for, Kyungsoo hissed at Jongin, spotting him hiding behind a tall plant in the garage.

I'll just come with you instead of Chanyeol!

I have a discount card, Chanyeol said.

The betrayal Jongin felt when Kyungsoo and Chanyeol left him coughing from the smoke of his revving Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet that was supposed to be his birthday gift. His man has abandoned him for another man. Great. He better step up his game no matter what.

"Is something the matter? You looked so stressed out today."

"Hi, babe!"

"Sehun? What are you and Luhan doing here in my workplace?"

The prominent coffee shop is packed with customers, as usual, since it's a busy Thursday morning. Thankfully, Jongin's shift has finished early, so now he has all the time to hang out with Sehun and Luhan who are now grinning at him so brightly. Those cunning smiles are screaming they only wanted free coffees. Why else would they come here if not for that anyway?

"Sehun and I wanted to see you in your hot barista uniform, of course," Luhan answers the question, and Jongin thinks it's really the reason why his boyfriend is here. But as for Sehun? He must be here to annoy the shit out of him. "Come here, sit with me."

"So, why the long face?" Sehun asks, lifting an eyebrow, "That's not your usual customer-friendly face. I'm telling the manager you're being rude to us."

"You know what else is long aside from Jongin's face today?" Luhan smirks, "His co--"

"Yeah, the list of his insecurities."

"Hey. Don't be rude to him!"

Jongin glares at Sehun cackling at him. "Fuck you." Then he plops himself on the seat beside Luhan after placing two iced white chocolate mocha on the table. "Here. It's on the house."

Like excited little kids, Sehun and Luhan grab their drinks and suck on the straw. Jongin lets out a heavy sigh, sadly prepping his chin on top of his hand as he gazes out of the window.

"You know why I'm feeling so down today?"

"Why?" the couple ask in unison.

"On the night of our birthday, Kyungsoo all of a sudden confessed to me that he had a crush on Chanyeol so I'm feeling jealous right now."

Sehun exchanges silent looks with Luhan who's only staring back at him in confusion.

Before they both break into a huge laughter.

"Pfft. HAHAHAHA!"

"You're kidding, right? Haha!"

"You're so funny, Jongin. Oh my god!"

"Jealous? Who? You?!"

"Next joke, please!"

"I don't even ship them!"

"Really? Kyungsoo has a crush on Chanyeol? Hahaha!"

"And you believed that?!"

"Wait! That's actually a cute pairing, though! Haha. ChanSoo!"

"Stop it, I'm being serious!" Jongin huffs, feeling annoyed, because even the people whom he thought would understand him are also making fun of him. Crossing his arms over his chest, he knits his eyebrows and frowns, "It's not funny, don't laugh at me! I'm having a problem here!"

Approximately three minutes have passed before Sehun finishes laughing. Luhan has tears in his eyes because of what Jongin has just said.

"Babe, what should I do if Kyungsoo actually likes Chanyeol?" Jongin faces Luhan, holds his shoulders, and sniffles like he was about to cry, "Am I gonna be a side husband now? Shit, I don't want that to happen! I'd fucking lose my mind if Kyungsoo actually makes Chanyeol his third lover!"

Luhan side-glances at Sehun knowingly. Sehun wiggles his eyebrows, communicating mentally. Luhan smirks, and then he fake-gasps.

"Oh, no! Kyungsoo told me something about it. I forgot to tell you, Jongin."

"HUH? What is it?" Jongin asks, eyes wide. "Tell me what he said to you!"

"You didn't know?" Sehun clicks his tongue, shaking his head slowly, "It's pretty obvious, Jongin. Kyungsoo has been meaning to say it but seems like you weren't getting the hint. He had to tell it to your face for you to understand his feelings."

"F-feelings!?"

"That's right. So, when Kyungsoo confessed he had a crush on Chanyeol, he really meant it," Luhan says, shocking Jongin more than he already is, "Like, it's that kind of crush where he wants to," he pauses for a dramatic effect, "get fucked in the ass by Chanyeol's cock!"

"Noooo!!! Not that!" Jongin screams, shoving his whole face on his palms, "Anything but that!"

"And do you know what else Kyungsoo said!?"

"What!?"

"He said he wanted to have a threesome in your new car with Chanyeol and Baekhyun! Yeah, he wanted to have sex without you, his own husband!" Sehun yells, exaggerating.

"OH MY GOD, NO!!!"

"Wait, Kyungsoo said that!?" Luhan blurts out. "He doesn't wanna be with me anymore?"

Sehun rolls his eyes. "I thought we were gonna tease Jongin."

"No, Kyungsoo! Not Chanyeol's schlong!"

"I'm telling Kyungsoo not to hang out with him anymore."

"Screw Park Chanyeol! That motherfucker!"

A sudden tap on Jongin's back from the manager, before he whispers to him:

"Will you guys please lower down your voices. The customers can hear your private conversation. Thank you."

Looking around, Jongin sees the people in the coffee shop oddly staring at them, whispering and gossiping. He clears his throat and hides behind the coffee tray. Slowly turning his back around, Sehun lowers his head and yanks the hood of his jacket to cover his face. I'm innocent.

"Anyway, don't be so overdramatic, baby. You know Kyungsoo won't ever replace you," Luhan tells Jongin, smiling and comforting him as he pats his boyfriend's back. His phone beeps a notification so he finally stands up and wears his bag, "Oh, I have to go! I'm late for my appointment."

"You're leaving already? What appointment?" Sehun asks, holding Luhan's wrist as he looks up to the older, "Where are you going? What time will you come back? Who are you meeting with? Why do you look so pretty today?"

"I'm going to the mall to meet up with my online friends. It won't take long. I'll probably be home by 4pm. And thanks for the compliment."

"Online friends? Are they guys or girls? Do I know those people? Where do they live?" Jongin asks next, "What's their address? Their social security number?"

"They're a couple who bought sex toys from me, and they only live closeby," Luhan explains, trying his best not to laugh at his boyfriends' cute reaction, "And please, don't give me that look. I'm not gonna hurt myself nor am I gonna get lost. I promise. Okay?"

"Okay then. Take care."

Before leaving, Luhan goes to Jongin for a hug and a goodbye kiss, so Jongin pulls him close while tying the knot on his hoodie into a ribbon. Don't stay out for too late, Jongin whispers, which Luhan replies a Yes, babe.

Of course, he doesn't forget to hug Sehun as well and give him a sweet kiss on the cheek. Mwah.

"Bye, laters!" he exclaims, waving goodbye to his lovers.

"Byeee," Jongin and Sehun both say, raising their hand and seeing Luhan off after the door chimes in the coffee shop cling.

Sehun continues sipping his free drink like a happy kid.

"Now what."

Jongin heaves another depressing sigh.

"Dude, do you really think I'm being overdramatic? I'm acting so immature right now, aren't I?"

"Yeah, you are."

"Why am I being like this anyway? It's just, no matter how hard I try not to overthink about it, I only end up thinking more about it which doesn't really make sense. Right?"

"Uh-huh."

"Like, I know for a fact that I'm the only one for Kyungsoo, that he's head over heels in love with me, that he can never live without me that's why he married me, that he cares so much for me he will never ever leave me even if the skies were falling down..."

Sehun keeps listening to Jongin's incessant rambling.

"And that he's crazy for me he will give everything I ask, that he will forgive me even if I commit a lot of mistakes, that he'll accept whatever choices I make! Yeah, that's just how much Kyungsoo loves me, to the point that he would literally take a bullet and die for me---"

"Hey, that's too much. Aren't you being a little conceited right now?"

"What, what's wrong with what I just said?"

"Now I know where your problem lies. You're being too complacent just because Kyungsoo's been with you all this time."

Jongin stares in confusion.

"Complexment? The hell does that mean?"

"What I'm saying is, you may not realize it, but you've been taking Kyungsoo for granted and that's not nice. So now, when he suddenly mentioned another man's name out of the blue."

Sehun leans closer to the table, before he whispers:

"You feel threatened."

Jongin has to swallow the uncomfortable lump forming in his throat.

"You're scared that Kyungsoo, who loves you the most, would abandon you if ever he lost taste in you. And you know what kind of behavior is that, Jongin?"

"What?"

"That's not just jealousy."

"Then, then what is it?"

"That's obsession."

Sehun straightens up on his seat, leans back, grabs his coffee, and sips on it like nothing happened.

"Oh, aside from that, you're also being a huge jerk."

I want you, I want you, want you, I want you, I want you, want you, coincidentally plays as the background music in the whole shop. Meanwhile, Jongin can just blankly stare at Sehun calmly taking his time consuming his beverage.

"Ew, this coffee tastes too sweet for my liking. Ugh, my cavities... Hey, excuse me. Can I get a glass of water?"

The urge of wanting to punch Sehun on the face lingers at the back of Jongin's mind, but he deems to keep composed as he clenches his fists on top of the table.

"Hey. Aren't you being a bit too harsh with me?"

"I'm not that kind of friend to sugarcoat things for you. Heck, I'm not even your friend to begin with."

"I hate you so much."

"I love you too, so I hope that knocks some sense into you."

Although it kind of hurts, what Sehun said seems to make sense to Jongin. Maybe he actually feels threatened; that he fucking hates the thought of Kyungsoo having any interest on anything that is not him. If he's Kyungsoo's king, then he must remain his king no matter what. He doesn't want to lose this position.

"Yeah, I think you're right..." Jongin mumbles, "Chanyeol's not the problem here, nor does Kyungsoo." He leans his cheek sideways on the table, facing Sehun who's looking at him judgmentally. "It's me who has the problem. I think I'll get obsessed with my husband if I keep thinking this way and it's not healthy..."

"Glad you realized it faster than I expected."

"You know, I even thought of locking Kyungsoo up in our room so his tiny crush on Chanyeol won't ever develop any further."

"No shit, that's bad."

"And I also thought about quitting all of my jobs so that I could guard Kyungsoo 24/7 and make sure he won't hang out with Chanyeol anymore."

"Damn. That's definitely not normal."

"And I was this close to telling Baekhyun to put Chanyeol on a leash so he won't come near Kyungsoo anymore, not on my watch--"

Sehun flashes a horrified look.

"You're crazy."

"Then what should I do!? Help me!"

"How about this. Go back to square one. Impress Kyungsoo like the first time, and gain back your confidence. That's it."

Jongin's eyes sparkle.

"Wait, that's a brilliant idea! You're a genius!"

Sehun coughs into his fist to cover up his flustered reaction.

"You know what, I don't even know why I'm saying this to you... I have like, a year and a half year of dating experience, and you have like, sixty-nine years of marriage experience. You're the expert in this field."

Jongin chuckles, rubbing is nape awkwardly.

"Actually, I already forgot how to impress someone... I was already Kyungsoo's boyfriend the time I hit puberty. Dating him was as natural as breathing."

"Wow."

"Plus, Luhan just came to me without me doing anything. Ah, now that I think about it, Baekhyun's also got a crush on me before. I was basically existing and all of them were coming to me effortlessly," Jongin says, lowkey bragging, "Now I'm having troubles going back to square one. Oh no, I'm such a terrible human being!"

Sehun crumples a tissue and throws it at Jongin's annoying face.

"I badly wanna smack you on the face right now but I realize it'll only make me look like a jealous loser so I won't do that."

That just causes a tiny smile on Jongin's mouth.

"But kidding aside, Sehun. You know I'm only saying this to make myself feel better. Just like what you said, the list of my insecurities is long."

"Yeah, probably longer than your dick."

"...right."

"Anyway. That's not the point."

Sehun rises from his chair and sits next to Jongin. He holds Jongin's shoulders and intently stares at him with all seriousness.

"Look. What you need to do to overcome your insecurities is to work on it. Get it out of your system by wooing Kyungsoo all over again. It'll surely rekindle his love for you."

"You think so? But how?"

"Take Kyungsoo out on a romantic date, buy him flowers, have dinner in a fancy restaurant, do some shopping together, get him pretty clothes, and pay for everything. After the mall, watch a really boring movie so that you'd end up making out in the cinema. Then right after that, go on a drive towards the sunset while holding-hands in the car until you reach home."

"Sehun, are you sure all of that will work?"

"Of course. I mean, that's how I made your boyfriend mine."

Jongin chokes on his saliva.

"So, what are you waiting for? Go get your ass out of here and date your husband as you should! Make him feel special like you were seventeen again."

Sehun is grinning so wide and it's really annoying. But Jongin admits what this guy has just suggested were certainly all romantic. Since when did Sehun have this manly side of him? And since when did he become so mature? For all he knows, Sehun was just freaking out how to use a condom before.

"What," Sehun backs away when Jongin is only smiling at him with a soft, dreamy, fond, and mesmerized gaze in his eyes, "Why are you looking at me like that? Do I have something on my face..."

"When you get married to Luhan, I'll be the happiest man alive."

"T-that's," Sehun blushes at that unexpected remark, "Vivi has to finish college first before that thing happens."

"Yeah, sure."

He waits until Jongin decides to get going, thanking the heavens when the man finally stops whining and being a dramatic ass. Jongin pauses on the exit when he remembers something.

"Hey, Sehun."

"What?"

"Thank you."

Sehun smiles.

"No biggie. See you at home."

Now that he is alone, he finishes his coffee by also taking Luhan's unfinished drink, making sure he's also drinking on the same spot his boyfriend has drunk for an indirect kiss.

"Mm. This tastes actually pretty good."

A light-tap on his back from the barista causes him to turn his head around.

"Excuse me. The coffees Jongin brought to this table aren't paid yet. Do you wanna pay in card or in cash?"

Sehun's surely gonna castrate Jongin when he gets home.

*

Okay, so here's the plan--was the plan, rather.

Since plans are not supposed to work one hundred percent of the time, some inevitable circumstances happened which Jongin confesses he hasn't seen coming. He strictly followed Sehun's advice in their free consultation at the coffee shop, and he actually even made a mental list of the date with Kyungsoo, but things didn't seem to go his way. In short, it was a complete disaster.

The flow of their date was supposed to go like this:

1. Pick Kyungsoo up from work with my new car.

Jongin drove his sexy car like he was a famous celebrity, parking it in front of the restaurant where Kyungsoo works at, once again attracting the attention of their dining customers. Kyungsoo was pretty much delighted by his overwhelming presence, since he was already waiting for him, ready to leave as soon as he received his text.

"Hi, babe-"

But when Jongin was about to hug his cute squishy chef husband, he accidentally tripped over on his own foot in the middle of the lobby, stumbling down with a loud thud.

Every soul in the restaurant saw his demise, the CCTV's also caught it, and Jongin was pretty sure some customers even took a video of him landing with his face first on the floor to upload it on Tiktok.

The fall didn't hurt at all, but his ego ached so bad, so he lost the courage to get up from that position on the ground as the waiters passed beside him. Yeah. He stayed there, slumped and frozen, for sixteen seconds long, cursing nails and uneven floorings.

Kyungsoo had to run towards him and help him stand like Jongin was a two-year-old toddler.

"My husband has a poor eyesight," Kyungsoo reasoned out to the manager as he and Jongin left the restaurant through the backdoor.

2. Buy Kyungsoo a bouquet of his favorite flowers.

After that humiliating encounter, Jongin swore not to step foot on Kyungsoo's restaurant again, well, not unless his husband drags him inside with a paper bag covering his head.

So this time, Jongin should make up for that, as he successfully made it to the flower shop. This place was safe and it was perfect. Kyungsoo was waiting in the car while he bought the surprise flowers that will sweep his husband off his feet.

But when Jongin got to the counter, he forgot what Kyungsoo's favorite flowers were--wait, does his husband even have one? So he ended up taking some random pretty flowers in the display with the name of Baby's breath.

He gave it to Kyungsoo like it was their first year anniversary, smiling ear-to-ear, and even brighter than the sun. His expectation of a big smile and an I love you from Kyungsoo turned out to be a frantic:

"Achoo!!!"

Kyungsoo was, after all, allergic to pollen, and Jongin totally forgot about that. He's such a terrible husband!

"Please just get me medicine..."

Jongin threw the flowers away as they drove to a nearby pharmacy, getting a tablet of Claritin, nasal spray, and disinfectant to relieve itching, as well as to clean the car until Kyungsoo stopped coughing and sneezing. Jongin cursed himself to death but his kind husband said it was okay, and that he'd forgive him if they ate somewhere nice.

Jongin gained back his confidence.

"Leave everything to me."

"Where are we going?"

"You'll see when we get there."

3. Have dinner in a fancy restaurant with Kyungsoo.

Jongin remembered this Italian restaurant Sehun suggested to him which served the best Italian cuisine in Seoul. He planned to go there with Kyungsoo before, and now was probably the best time for it. By the time they arrived, it was already the peak of lunchtime and both of them were starving as hell. Perfect. Nice ambiance, high-quality food, expensive wine, and a relaxing five-star experience of fine dining. Kyungsoo would love that, right?

"What!? It's closed?!"

The large Under Renovation signage on the front of the Italian restaurant made Jongin want to question his decision-making skills. His confidence level went from 100 to zero real quick. The disappointment in Kyungsoo's eyes, plus the hunger, all the more caused Jongin a broken heart. He should've called the restaurant beforehand! Fuck this.

"I'm sorry, babe... I didn't know."

"Let's just go back to the restaurant."

"You mean, your restaurant--"

"Yeah. It's the closest, and I'm already starving."

No matter how Jongin wanted to cover his face with a paper bag to save himself from another humiliation, he had no choice but to go back to that place thick-faced. Thank god, the customers were all different now, but the staff and waiters, they were still the same, of course. He had to bear with the uncertain and scrutinizing stare from the manager when he was asked:

"Are you really Chef Kyungsoo's husband?"

The only good thing that happened during the dinner was the employee discount on the meals they ate. Plus, Kyungsoo looked happy and comfortable, and they also both had their tummies filled with good food so Jongin guessed this went pretty well. Kind of.

4. Go shopping with Kyungsoo, buy him pretty clothes, and pay for everything.

"Are you sure I can get what I want, babe?"

"Yeah! Don't worry, it's on me."

"Really?"

"Of course! Today, I'll be your rich sugar daddy."

The bright and radiant expression on Kyungsoo's face as he hauled clothes after clothes, putting them on the shopping cart, was so precious. The mall was not cramped today, so it was convenient to shop without having too many people crowding around.

Look at him being so excited, so cute. Jongin had this gentle look in his eyes, admiring his husband rounding the shelves for some real branded and expensive hoodies, sweaters, beanies, shirts, pants, and coats, which basically looked identical---all of them were black.

"Oh, how about this, baby? This looks cute on you." Jongin grabbed some random black shirt, pulled Kyungsoo to face him, and placed it across Kyungsoo's chest. "Why don't you try it on?"

Realizing how close Jongin was he could literally feel him breathe through his nose, Kyungsoo stared at his husband who was gazing down at him invitingly. It was like Jongin was about to pin him against the nearest wall and devour his lips, kissing him deeply.

Shoving him away and clearing his throat, Kyungsoo hides the blush surfacing on his cheeks.

"D-don't stick too close. We're in public."

Kyungsoo walked off like a penguin, and Jongin couldn't help cooing at that cute sight.

"Oh my god, he's so adorable~"

It was all wholesome and domestic not until they had to pay for all the stuff Kyungsoo got. Everything was already packed in more than fifteen shopping bags lined on the counter, but it seemed like they were having a bit of a problem.

"Excuse me?"

"I need another card, Sir."

Jongin's sweat doubled its size when the third credit card he gave to the cashier was still being declined. It was either it maxed out the credit limit, or it was cut off by the bank.

"I'm sorry, but your credit card was declined again. Do you have another card?"

"O-oh, then how about this one?"

"Please wait a moment..."

Kyungsoo was just quietly staring at the side and it was unbearably painful. His eyes were big like how they usually were, but worry was obvious in them, as if he was on the brink of returning all the stuff he got before leaving the store empty-handed.

"This card is not working either. Do you want to pay in cash instead, Sir?"

"How much... was it again?"

"₩2.2 million in total." (*approx. $2,000)

Jongin sighed, calming himself down as he stared at his wallet. They were stalling in the counter for fifteen minutes now; few customers were waiting in line behind them, while the cashier also seemed to be feeling sorry for him.

"Can you try this card for the last time?"

Jongin had no cash of that huge amount to be honest. He barely had ₩900k inside his wallet today, so he had no other choice but to use Chanyeol's card instead. Chanyeol provided each of them supplementary cards that Jongin kept with him for emergency purposes.

"Your payment went through. Please sign here."

Shit. That hurt so bad. It's like his pride was repeatedly trampled on and he couldn't do anything about the situation. It must be also mortifying for Kyungsoo to watch him struggling, that Jongin just wished to disappear right then and there. It was still embarrassing even after feeling relieved when the payment was successful and leaving the department store. Jongin felt traumatized and ashamed at the same time.

But then, he didn't know if Kyungsoo being all quiet as they returned in the car after putting all the shopping bags in the trunk, was a good thing or not. Was Kyungsoo feeling guilty about buying things outside of their budget? Maybe, but he shouldn't be, since it was Jongin who told him to pick whatever he wanted anyway.

"Kyungsoo, I'm really sor-"

"Don't apologize. It's okay."

"Uhm, I used Chanyeol's card..."

"Yeah, I know."

"I guess I'll have to thank your crush..."

That made Kyungsoo finally laugh; Jongin saw hope flashing into him once again.

"Yeah. You better pay him back with your kidneys later."

5. Watch a movie with Kyungsoo.

After that shameful incident at the mall, Jongin was definitely sure he wouldn't mess this up. What worse could happen to them in a cinema with the most boring movie he could ever find, on that note? Popcorns, drinks, and ticket already bought, they were set on the climax of their date, as they chose the seats in the farthest back of the movie theater.

As expected, there were only less than twenty people here, and it was absolutely the perfect opportunity for Jongin to make his move.

The film started rolling. It was an American movie about politics set in the 80's which Jongin didn't really give a damn, because the only thing that mattered right now, was how he could get Kyungsoo to make out with him and suck his cock (or the other way around). That would be so fucking hot, having Kyungsoo's mouth stuffed with popcorn and dick at the same time

Jongin began crawling his hand on top of Kyungsoo's knee.

Easy.

Easy.

Kyungsoo flinched.

Jongin kept going until he reached the front of Kyungsoo's pants.

Kyungsoo swatted his hand away.

"No, not here."

Jongin frowned.

"What, why not?"

"Please have some decency and wait until we get home."

"I had to wait for two hours!?"

"Shh. The movie you picked is so interesting. Let me watch in peace."

Jongin couldn't believe he just got blue-balled by his husband. This was such a bad idea, screw Sehun.

"Tch. Fine!"

Kyungsoo seemed to feel a bit guilty about it anyway, so at the 25-minute mark of the movie while the film was playing a helicopter scene, he grabbed Jongin by the collar and crashed his lips against his husband's for a mouth-bruising, torrid kiss. They ended up making out heatedly in the dark for ten minutes, until a guy selling snacks interrupted them to ask if they wanted to buy nachos.

"Kyungsoo, I got a problem down here," Jongin whispered to his husband as he endured the angry tent inside his pants. He tried covering it with the popcorn box but it wouldn't do. His boner was still evident that it looked like it would explode anytime, "Babe. I said, I'm hard!"

"Well, I'm not," Kyungsoo simply said, watching the stupid movie nonchalantly.

"Can't we just get out of here already?"

"What did I tell you? I asked you to wait until we get home, didn't I?"

"Yeah, but... Can't I get a blowjob at least? It hurts so much I think I'm gonna die..." Jongin begged, looking at Kyungsoo with big sparkling eyes. "Please?"

"Nope."

"Then how about a handjob? I promise, I'll be a good boy! If you could just touch it a little, even the tip will do--"

Kyungsoo sighed.

"Listen, Kim Jongin. If you keep on pestering me, I won't really do it with you."

As much as Jongin wanted to fuck his husband in the cinema's bathroom, he respected Kyungsoo's wishes to wait until they got home, and so he calmed his dick down by actually trying to focus his eyes on the big screen. It was as if he was hearing alien language and it made him super sleepy.

So in the end, his erection went down as he eventually fell asleep on Kyungsoo's shoulder.

It was such a pity he didn't see Kyungsoo smiling and stroking his hair until the movie was finished.

6. Drive towards the sunset while holding Kyungsoo's hand.

In conclusion, Jongin can say that everything he did was a horrible failure. Every aspect of their date didn't go according to plan. From the incident of him stumbling down in front of many people, the allergy-inducing flowers he gave Kyungsoo, the closed restaurant they were supposed to have dinner at, the maxed-out credit cards, and lastly, up to him suffering from blue balls and falling asleep in the movies; this date turned into a complete fiasco.

Jongin only wanted to woo his husband and win his heart once again so Kyungsoo wouldn't look at Chanyeol anymore, but guess what? He only made a fool out of himself because of his catastrophic dating skills. It was all messy and embarrassing. Probably, Kyungsoo is already regretting he married a dumb man like him, and maybe Kyungsoo is also planning to sign the divorce papers when they got home after this.

So, his last straw is not to screw this one up. The sun is starting to set now, and all he needs to do is drive and hold Kyungsoo's hand.

As they cruise down the highway, Jongin helps Kyungsoo buckle the seatbelt before he pushes the button to open the foldable roof, rolling the windows up, and letting the crisp air ruffle their hairs. This way, they get to have a clear glimpse of the pink skies and the orange sunset while driving with the top down at a steady speed.

"Wow. So this is how it looks like..."

"Yeah, what a nice feature."

Kyungsoo's lips slowly turn into a big smile as he puts his arms up to feel more of the cool breeze, and Jongin thinks it's the best view he's having for today.

It's like in the movies; he's driving a luxurious convertible car, he's with the person he loves, and the sunset is so beautiful it matches the mood. Plus, the innocence reflected in Kyungsoo's eyes, the blissful chuckle Kyungsoo is letting out as they take this course together, and the warmth of Kyungsoo's hand slipping on his fingers.

"Jongin! Haha. Drive faster!"

They all remind Jongin of the reasons why he fell in love with his husband.

"Your hair looks like a bird's nest!"

Ah. He wants to cry right now.

"Kyungsoo?"

"Hm?"

Because suddenly, all of those negative emotions he had been feeling these days.

"Did you have fun today?"

Anxiety. Jealousy. Overthinking. Insecurity. Childishness. Paranoia. Overreaction.

"Yeah, I did."

Are now disappearing with the wind.

Kyungsoo is smiling reassuringly, and Jongin instantly forgets why he even had doubts in the first place.

"So, don't act jealous anymore," Kyungsoo says, as if he has already read his mind, "Because you're the only person I'll be loving at ninety years old whom I'll be telling," he kisses the back of his hand, "Finally, we made it."

"Me, too. Thank you for telling me that."

Now Jongin realizes that no matter how long he's been in a relationship with Kyungsoo, he still needs to have assurance from time to time.

"And Chanyeol is just a friend whom I'm always super grateful to. He's like a brother I never had and I don't see him in a romantic way."

Because actions speak louder than words, but words speak through the soul, and this...

"So, from now on, you don't have to try hard to impress me. I'm already smitten with you since the day I decided to be yours. I'm sorry for not taking your feelings seriously. I promise not to say things that'll confuse you again."

This is all what Jongin needed to hear.

Kyungsoo tilts his head sideways and peeks at Jongin's face, before he says:

"You're always gonna be the most perfect husband for me. I love you, babe."

Jongin smiles because of that, and probably, maybe, he's crying, too. Why are there tears falling from his eyes in this exact moment? It's so unmanly.

"Hey. Didn't you hear me?" Kyungsoo reaches for his cheek, wiping away his tears with his thumb, "I just said that I love you."

Ah. Fuck. Jongin's such an idiot, he can't stop smiling right now. He has to slow down his driving and cover half of his face.

"Yeah. I love you, too..."

Kyungsoo leans closer and yells into his ear:

"I LOVE YOU, KIM JONGIN!!!"

Jongin laughs, shaking his head. Damn. How did it turn out like this? It's all Kyungsoo's fault. One moment he was self-pitying, and then next he's feeling over the moon. Is he allowed to be this happy?

"Fine, I heard you already..."

"YOU ARE MY KING!"

"Oh my god, shut up..."

"Yeah? Are you cringing yet?"

"Nope."

The teasing laughs Jongin adores from Kyungsoo are back and somehow, he doesn't feel offended anymore.

"Tch. What a dumb husband, getting jealous for no reason..."

"But you like how honest I am anyway."

When Jongin assumes that their date has already a perfect ending, that is where he goes wrong.

"Oh, shit."

Because it's now starting to rain, here on the highway, out of all places.

"Hurry up! Close the roof!"

"I'm doing it already!"

"Press the button--oh my god, we're getting drenched!"

"Fuck, why is this taking so long!"

Really? The weather just had to ruin this day completely? And if Jongin thought he's already unfortunate enough being soaked by the pouring rain until the top's convertible is completely up, the car just need to suddenly stop just about the time they pulled over beside the street.

"Wait, what happened?"

They ran out of gas.

Both of them sitting inside their uncomfortable car covered in their wet clothes, Jongin looks at his husband beside him.

Kyungsoo stares back.

"Pfft."

And they share a laugh.

"Hahaha."

The gasoline station is still a mile away, so Jongin decides to call for a towing service and book a taxi going home. It's already getting late and the guys are probably waiting for them by now. But before he can even press a number on his phone, Kyungsoo stops him by grabbing his hand.

"Do you wanna go there instead..."

Jongin looks at the there Kyungsoo is pertaining to, and his eyes practically bulge out when he sees the strikingly bright neon sign of the establishment in the distance.

"So, you wanna check in or not?"

It's a love hotel.

"Of course. I want to," Jongin answers, giving his husband a flashy horny smile, "I mean, since it's pretty cold here inside the car, it's just right that we go to that hotel and start a fire-"

Kyungsoo throws him a cringing look.

"Oh my god."

"And I'll bring you the wood-"

"Shut up. You're embarrassing."

Everything that has happened and every emotion that Jongin felt today, they might be hard to take in and quite strange to the feeling, but nothing of them was brand new.

"Babe, listen to this. Roses are red, violets are blue-"

Jongin knows Kyungsoo understood his dedication to impress him to the best that he could. So, even if he's not like Chanyeol and Sehun, who are always close to being perfect.

"...I love your ass and I want to fuck you!"

"Nope, I'm not listening. Hurry up, let's go."

He'd still rather be that clumsy yet hardworking husband who struggles, worries, and makes a lot of mistakes, because in the end, the fruit of his efforts would be the silver of Kyungsoo's smile.

"Let's use Chanyeol's card to book the most expensive suite?"

"Sure."

Because after all, it's the thought that always counts. Jongin can just try again next time, nevertheless.
