Narrator pov
It was a pretty normal day at Hope Zion Hospital. But something big was about to happen. Something that would change the lives of the staff of Hope Zion forever.

Just as things were settling down a little girl walked in. She looked around then walked up to Charlie, who was looking at charts. She tugged on his pant leg. He looked and bent down.
" Hi sweetie. What's your name?" She kept quiet. Charlie frowned.
" Is there something you need?" The girl nodded.
" Is Dr. Joel Goran here?"
" Yes. Do you want him?" She nodded her head.
" Okay. I'll go get him. In the meantime can you stay with Dr. Lin here?" The child nodded her head. Maggie took her away while Charlie went to get Joel.

Joel was shocked at what Charlie was telling him.
" You're saying there is a little girl downstairs and the only thing you could get out of her was she wanted me?"
" Yes Joel. Now would you please just come with me?"
" Fine. Where is she?"
" I'll show you."

When they entered the room they found the girl drinking some juice. Maggie went over and spoke.
" I couldn't get anything out of her. Except when I asked her where her parents were she said that her foster family hated her. But that's it. Nothing else." Joel spoke.
" Okay. Thanks Maggie." He went over and bent down.
" Hi sweetie. I hear you're asking for me."
" You're Dr. Joel Goran?"
" Yes. What is your name?"
" Annalee Kylie. I think I'm you're daughter." Joel froze. Maggie looked shocked and Charlie tensed.
" I'm sorry what? You're his daughter?" The child nodded her head. She looked at Joel.
"Seven years ago you and Alex Reed gave up a little girl. That's me." Joel was very shocked but he got out of it.
" How did you find me?" Annalee held out a piece of paper.
" I took this. I wanted to know who my real parents were." Joel took the paper and saw it was her birth certificate. He sighed then looked at her. Annalee spoke.
" Please don't send me back. They hate me. They only keep me for the money. Please don't make me go." Joel spoke.
" I won't. Relax sweetie. Okay? You're safe." Annalee nodded her head then hugged his neck.
" I want to stay with you daddy."
" I promise you will."

Joel got Anna settled in his office then talked to the others. Charlie was furious.
"You and Alex had a baby and gave her up? Why wouldn't you say anything?"
" Because Charles we didn't think this would happen. We were giving her her best chance. That's what we thought." Maggie spoke.
" You have a daughter Joel. A daughter who needs you now."
" I know. And I'm going to get custody of her. It's just with Alex the way she is it's going to be hard." Gavin spoke.
" No it won't. You said that Annalee told you that her foster parents hated her and kept her for the money?" Maggie answered.
" That's what she said to us."
" Then you can prove child abuse. She's showing classic symptoms. Prove child abuse and you can get custody. Besides you're her biological father. You have final say over her because even if you gave her up originally you still didn't waive your parental rights." Joel sighed. Gavin was right. He and Alex had never waived their parental rights. Just then Alex appeared in spirit form to Charlie. He excused himself then left.

Charlie spoke first.
" So it's true? She's your kid with Joel?"
" Yeah. And she's so beautiful." Charlie looked away.
" Look Charlie. I need you to do something. You have to help Joel get her back. He has to get custody of her. I want her safe."
" Fine. For you." Alex smiled and spoke.
" Thank you Charlie." Just then Alex froze.
" I have to go. She's there with my body." Alex disappeared.

Meanwhile Joel had taken Anna down to see Alex. Anna stayed by her father's side before she pulled on his lab coat.
" Can I go to her?"
" Of course sweetie." Anna went over and climbed on the bed. She put a hand on Alex's cheek.
" Mama. Please wake up soon." Joel went over and kissed her head.
" It's alright princess. She'll wake up soon." Alex, in spirit form, smiled watching Joel interact with their daughter.
" Promise?"
" Promise. Why don't we go get some food?"
" Okay. Can we get some candy?"
" Well I'll see what we can find." Anna kissed Alex's cheek then hopped off the bed. Joel took her hand and they went to the break room.

Anna enjoyed spending time with her dad. After a bit Anna fell asleep against Joel. He smiled and then got up holding her. Joel walked around for a bit before he decided to lay her down. Then he got to work.
