Good Memories and Nightmares

~{Y/N}'s POV~

I chuckled as I walked away from the blonde-haired guy known as Mihael Keehl. He was handsome, charming, funny, the works.

This man... He seems too familiar.

I thought about it but shook my head, trying to think of something else.

You're so sweet, you put Hershey's outta business.

I giggled as I approached a familiar grey car. I opened the front passengers door before sitting down and smiling at the driver.

"Hey, Lawliet, what's up?"

The black haired male look at with with amusement. "Someone seems happy. What happened?"

"Someone just pulled a pick up line on me. He was cute, so I gave him my number." I explained, and Lawliet chuckled.

"I don't blame him. My little sister is all promiscuous, huh?"

"Hey, shut it! I'm still a virgin, L!" I argued back, and he rolled his eyes.

"So you say." He replied. "Anyways, what was the guy's name?"

"Mihael Keehl."

~Lawliet's POV~

"Anyways," I said to {Y/N}, "What was the guy's name?"

"Mihael Keehl."

My eyes widened. Mihael Keehl. It was a name I'd know anywhere.

Mello...

"Lawliet? What's wrong?" {Y/N} asked, and I shook my head.

"N-nothing. I'm fine. Let's go home." I lied, pulling out onto the street and driving home.

So if {Y/N} was reborn, and Mello was reborn...

There's no doubt in my mind. Something's going on.

"Hey, {Y/N}?" I began. "This may sound weird, but when you saw this guy, did he seem... Familiar to you?"

"Yeah, but I didn't know him. He was really cute. He had this badass blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. You should've seen him. Even his friend was cute."

"...friend?"

"Oh, yeah, he had a friend with him. Mail Jeevas, I think. He was a red headed guy. But damn they were hot."

Mail Jeevas.

Matt.

Matt was reborn as well, huh?

What the fuck is going on?

We arrived at our house, and {Y/N} dashed to the front door, unlocked it, and ran inside. "Nate! We're home!" She called out, and I rolled my eyes.

"Welcome home." The albino responded as I walked into the door, closing and locking it behind me.

"Hey, Nate. What're you up to?" I asked.

"Doing some research." He explained, and I hummed in approval.

"That's my little brother." I joked, and he scoffed.

"Hey, Nate, what kinda research are you doing?" {Y/N} asked, putting her head on top of Nate's.

"{Y/N}, you're making my head hurt. Stop that. And it's nothing important. I'm just examining some old history stuff."

"Oh, okay. I'll leave you to it, then. Lawliet, I'll make us some food, alright?"

I nodded and {Y/N} left the room and headed towards the kitchen, leaving Nate and I alone.

"What happened?" Nate asked, and I gave him a confused look.

"What do you mean, 'what happened'?"

"When you came in you seemed... Distracted. Something happened. Tell me."

Might as well...

"{Y/N} found Mello earlier today." I muttered, and Nate's eyes went wide.

"M-Mello? Her Mello?"

"What other Mello do we know?" I said. "Of course, she didn't remember him, but she said he seemed familiar. Also, he was with a friend. A red head named Mail Jeevas."

Nate gasped and covered his mouth in shock. "So, both Matt and Mello were there. Did they remember her?"

"I don't know, I wasn't there. But I have a feeling that even if they don't remember each other, that they recognize each other."

"Yes, that would make a lot of sense. But why would we remember all of this, and they wouldn't? We barely played a part in their last love life."

"Precisely. They wanted a normal love life. And for them to be supported by not only Matt, but us, too."

I sighed and sat down beside Nate, and glanced at his computer. It wasn't history that was on the screen, but rather, the information from the Kira case.

"Why're you looking at the Kira case?" I inquired.

"I'm checking to see if there's something we missed that lead to {Y/N} and Mello's rebirth. And also because I was wondering about my past."

We were both silent for a moment before Nate spoke up again. "Do you think they'll make it work this time?"

~{Y/N}'s POV~

As I was cooking, my cell phone rang. Immediately, I answered, hoping it was Mihael. I was right.

"Hey, is this {Y/N}?" A voice asked, and I giggled.

"Yeah, the girl that's so sweet she puts Hershey's outta business."

"Okay it's you. This is Mihael. I wanted to ask you... Are you free tomorrow night? We could hang out for a bit."

I blushed and checked my calendar for any important appointments. When I didn't see any, I smiled.

"I'm completely free. I'll meet you at the park. What time?"

"Around 7:30 sounds good. You?"

"7:30 PM it is. See you soon."

"I'll text you later, {Y/N}. Bye."

"Bye." I mumbled before ending the call. Squealing, I ran to tell Lawliet about the date.

He and Nate were talking about something, so I stood just outside the living room to listen.

"Do you think they'll make it work this time?" Nate asked.

"I honestly can't say, Nate. Who knows, maybe {Y/N} will remember her past with Mihael-..."

I spaced out I confusion. A past with Mihael? I only just met him!

Something's not right.

I stepped into the living room and gave Lawliet a glare. "What about my past?!"

~Lawliet's POV~

"I honestly can't say, Nate. Who knows, maybe {Y/N} will remember her past with Mihael and-!"

"What about my past?" She interrupted, causing both Nate and I to look over at her in shock.

Shit, she heard.

"Uh, n-nothing." I lied, and her eyes narrowed.

"Don't lie to me, Lawliet. What fucking past with Mihael?"

Nate looked at me in desperation, and turned back to {Y/N}. "Listen, {Y/N}, it's nothing."

"Stay out of this, Nate! Or do you wanna answer for him?!"

"{Y/N}, I don't know how to explain this, but... You and Mihael had a relationship in the past."

"Bullshit. I only just met him!"

"I'm not talking about that. Just... Be open-minded. Listen, {Y/N}, in your past life, you and Mello were a couple. You had a kid, you got married, but then you both got into an... Accident. You died. He died. Everyone died."

{Y/N} was silent for a moment, but then she bursted out laughing.

"Haha, Law, you kill me. If you didn't want me to date, you could've just said so. Making up such an elaborate story... You're so crazy!"

Nate glanced at me in worry, knowing full-well she was kinda losing it. "Uh, {Y/N}, he's not joking." He said.

"You too, Nate? Oh, man, you two are hopeless... I just organized a date with Mihael, though. I'll call him and cancel it if you two are so against it."

Nate, who was annoyed at this point, turned to his laptop and clicked on a few things before looking at {Y/N} again. "If you find it so hard to believe, look. We're not lying, {Y/N}."

{Y/N} walked over to where Nate was sitting and looked at his laptop. "{Y/N} {L/N}... Died of a heart attack and third degree burns after being involved in the kidnapping of Kiyomi Takada. Her husband, Mihael Keehl, also died of a heart attack and third degree burns. Their remains were recovered in a church, burnt to nothing but ashes." She read aloud, and then covered her mouth in shock.

"You see? And this," Nate said, clicking on something, "Is Mihael's page."

"Mihael Keehl, AKA Mello, died of a heart attack and third degree burns. He was married to {Y/N} {L/N}, and they had a child by the name of Lawliet Keehl. Both husband and wife were discovered in Nagano, in a burning church. They had been involved in the kidnapping of Kiyomi Takada." She read again, and Nate showed her two pictures.

"These were you two. You look exactly the same. Does Mihael look like this?"

{Y/N} gasped and nodded, then looked at me in alarm. "What do I do? I just scheduled a date with him for tomorrow night!"

I sighed and walked to her, embracing her. "Listen, {Y/N}, this may be a lot to take in, but he's practically your soulmate. Just... Don't screw up and say anything that'll make him feel uncomfortable. Okay?"

{Y/N} buried her head in my neck and started to cry. I glanced nervously at Nate, who got up and started to run her back to comfort her.

"It's gonna be okay. That was years ago, that you guys were together. Near, er, Nate attended your wedding."

"Yes, I did. I even remember thinking to myself that you two were literally a power couple. The Jay-Z and Beyoncé of the whole Kira case. You went down with a bang."

"What happened to our kid? A-after we died."

"He was taken to an orphanage in Winchester. Wammy's House. We had all grown up there. He was trained under Near. Which was me. He took over for me after I passed away. He was a smart kid."

"So, you're telling me that the reason he came up to me today was because he remembers me?"

"Not exactly." I said. "He may remember you. He definitely recognized you. But remembered? I don't have the slightest clue."

"Oh, and his friend, Mail, was it? Yeah, he was part of your past, too." Nate added.

"Oh, my. Okay. So what am I supposed to do? I don't remember any of this. But it's still true. What am I gonna do?"

I shrugged. "Whatever you want. We're just giving you a heads up. You were the one that demanded to know what we were talking about."

"I know, but... Don't you think that this is a bit... Odd? I mean, paranormal things like this... Do they actually happen?"

"I assume so. The fact that we all look like people from years ago, and that Nate and I have memories of that... It can't be a coincidence."

Nate nodded and went to sit in front of his laptop again, focusing on the screen. "{Y/N}, if you want, I'll go with you-!"

"Ugh, Nate, no. That's embarrassing! Plus, what if he doesn't want that? He'll be all 'what the hell' and confused and shit. No. It's fine."

"So what're you gonna do then, {Y/N}?" I asked, and she sighed.

"Go on the date." She replied. "I mean, what's the worst that can happen?"

~MEANWHILE, MATT'S POV~

Mihael hung up with {Y/N} and sighed dreamily, as if he were some schoolgirl. "She said yes, Mail."

"Great." I said sarcastically, "Another breakup I'm gonna have to deal with after. Awesome."

"Hey!" He yelled. "Don't jinx it, asshole. Plus, I really like her."

"You barely know her!"

"So?! She's really hot."

Yeah. Why the hell do you always get the good ones, huh? Fuck.

What am I thinking?! No, she was hot, but Mihael's my best friend. You can't do that. He called dibs.

Okay. Not 'dibs'. But he asked her out already.

...she's so hot, though.

"Yeah, well, you can't just show up and be like, 'yeah, let's get married'. You've gotta get to know her."

"Wow, Jeevas, thanks for the most obvious fucking advice ever!"

"You're welcome." I said, extra sarcastically.

Then I left the room and went to my bedroom, plopping down on my bed. I sighed and glanced out the window.

I want that girl.

Even if she is Mihael's girl.

I'm gonna get her, too.

Prepare yourself, Keehl. One-on-one for {Y/N}.
