The Bright Light

Ansera's pov

As I followed the Al Thamen members, I kept questioning why the rukh was not like how it was before.

The members just went with their day like any other day. They had just met up with Gyoken and then left to rest.

This confused me.

I stood in the hallways trying to figure out what I had scene.

Was it my imagination?

Kouha's pov

I was walking around the palace with my servants when I saw Ansera. It looks like she's thinking about something.

Despite how close we may have seem, that was before the war. Now, she barely could talk to me. It felt like she was distancing from me.

My heart really ached. It's been a year and she still won't talk to me or smile the way she used to.

I decided to walk up to her.

"Hey, Ansera!" I waved at her.

She just simply glanced my way. She kept a pokerface before nodding and leaving.

I sighed.

How will we ever go back to how we used to be?

Ansera's pov

I feel guilty honestly from not talking to Kouha.

Though I was upset with him for a while, I don't have any grudges against him.  I just can't hate him.

I just feel it would be best if we don't get too close. It's just a feeling inside my gut but I don't want any mishaps.

As I continue to walk, the rukh has suddenly gone heavy again.

Suddenly, a bright light blinded me as I continued to walk forward.

I closed my eyes for a little bit, only to open my eyes again to see nothing changed.

That's bizarre. You don't just see bright magical lights to have nothing happen.

I continued walking on the hallways. I noticed the decor seemed to be a little different.

I walked outside where I heard children laughing.

Can this be a parrallel universe? When do we ever hear children laughing these days?

Suspicious of the slightly different environment, I hid behind a nearby pillar. My eyes couldn't help but widen at the sight.

There stood a family of six, a father, a mother, three sons, and one daughter. It may have seem normal to others. However, the youngest son and daughter looked awfully familiar.

The mother turned around my way. I quickly hid again, covering my mouth to conceal my gasp.

"Hakuryuu, Hakuei," she said using that familiar voice.  Was that Gyoken?

I couldn't believe my eyes.

In the field of yellow flowers, the royal family was peacefully enjoying their time.

I was confused. This reminded me of the stories Hakuryuu would tell of his family before the massacre.

Have I travelled to to the past?

That was impossible for Al Thamen. In fact, it was impossible even for a god.

Perhaps, it was all an illusion. Or maybe I should've checked my surroundings better since I hardly out in these hall ways for a while.

I felt the wall and looked at the rukh flying around.

I heard footsteps approaching and quickly hid.

However, I failed to realize the difference in architecture and the stairs underneath my foot when I had decided to hide myself behind the pillars.

The next few moments weren't so pleasant.

I slipped and somehow with the hills, I managed to become a rolling human ball, covered in grass, petals, and anything else you'd find in a field.

And yes, I mean bugs, too.

At least, I got to wash it all off
.
.
.
in the pond I splashed into.

Who in the world landscaped this area?!

I looked in front of me and there was tiny Hakuryuu staring at me.

Shoot, I've been spotted.

Before I could interefere, Hakuei came in.

Not another one!

"Hmm, what are you looking at, Hakuryuu?" his sister kindly asks.

As tiny Hakuryuu's hand went up, I held my breath.

"The fish seems happy," Hakuryuu replied, looking up towards his sister.

"Is that so?" Hakuei softly laughed. "Let's go back to mother, shall we?"

Hakuei held out her hand for Hakuryuu to grab as they walked away.

It came to a realization to me that perhaps that I was invisible or in some way transparent as I notice how my clothes are not in the least wet.

Wow, I was literally worried about dirt and grass being stuck on me for nothing.

Knowing nothing else to do, I got up and looked around the palace.

So, this was how it was before the fire incident I had heard of.

From the seems of it, this seemed to be about 5 years ago. Hakuryuu looked about 3 years old.

Following the siblings, I carefully observed Gyoken.

Activating the crescent necklace, I checked to see the rukh around me.

Looking around, the lighting on the scenery was changed. Everything had suddenly became filtered in a darker color.

It was then I felt some form of chains binding my arms. Looking down, I saw nothing but the slight movement made had left my head feeling heavier. I decided to use magoi manipulation to remove the chains.

However, it had merely led my arm in pain. I saw a few black rukh nearby.

"I'm guessing this is supposed to refrain me from using magoi," I mumbled to myself.

Deactivating my ability, everything seemed to looked normal. The pain and heavy feeling had left as well.

Knowing it was indeed Al Thamens doing, I decided to head back to where I had originally saw the bright light.

I started walking around the palace, wondering on the mystery that had suddenly occurred.
